It was Monday morning, and I buttoned up my blouse slowly, my mind still foggy from the dream that had jolted me awake in the middle of the night. Ian had held me until I drifted back to sleep, whispering quiet reassurances while brushing his fingers through my hair.
Now, I was determined to show up and not let the weight of the unknown crush me. Ian had asked Keila to teach me some of the Luna ethics little things, like posture, grace, and how to speak when the council's watching. I didn't mind. He had enough troubles. If learning how to be a Luna helped, then I will do it quietly.
Not because he forced me but because of the bond we share.
"Emma, my competition is near. Don't forget you promised to go with me when it's time." Olivia's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
She walked down the stairs in her school uniform, twirling a strand of hair between her fingers.
I smiled at her. "I promised you, remember? I am not changing my mind."
