Chapter 104: A New World, A New Virus!

[Would you like to spend one billion genetic points to traverse worlds?]

"Yes."

Chang Wei was relieved that while running around searching for myths, he hadn't been idle. He had created a batch of Divine Light Virus organisms for devouring, or else he wouldn't have accumulated so many genetic points. Just supporting the evolution of the Blacklight Virus G into the Divine Light Virus had nearly drained his stockpile.

Thankfully, Divine Light Virus organisms yielded a lot of genetic points, or he wouldn't have been able to recoup his investment so quickly.

[One billion genetic points consumed. Traversing worlds…]

[World traversal successful. Would you like to anchor to the Hellsing universe (Hellsing/Imperial Protestant Knights)?]

"Yes!"

[Anchoring to the Hellsing universe requires twenty billion genetic points. Once anchored, you can spend twenty billion genetic points to return.]

???

Chang Wei's eyes widened at the staggering number.

What the hell? Twenty billion genetic points?!

System, are you insane? It's just a world with a bit of a supernatural side, yet it costs way more than something as vast as Aliens vs. Predator?

But then again, this also implied that this world might truly have beings that could be called "gods." Otherwise, how could it possibly be on par with a universe teeming with top-tier alien civilizations?

Even the Aliens, Predators, and Creators (Engineers) combined only cost ten billion genetic points—yet Hellsing was twenty billion!

Either the beings here had incredibly tricky abilities, or they were godlike entities strong enough to rival entire extraterrestrial civilizations.

"Damn, good thing I stored some genetic points as insurance, or I wouldn't have enough to cover this."

Chang Wei was incredibly tempted. A world with such powerful targets would make excellent enhancement materials for himself. Giving up on it now would be a waste.

But… he really was running low on funds. After all, Africa didn't have that many people or creatures.

"Screw it—yes!"

[Anchoring successful!]

In the next moment, Chang Wei felt the world spinning. Unlike his first traversal, where he blinked and suddenly arrived, this time he distinctly felt the turbulence of the process. Then, as he entered the new world, he instantly lost consciousness.

By the time he opened his eyes, he was already in an unfamiliar place.

The first thing he did was activate his telepathic abilities for a global scan.

Countless pieces of information flooded his mind, which his superhuman brain rapidly processed and analyzed. Within moments, he extracted the key terms.

By cross-referencing these keywords with his memory, he could determine whether this was a world he knew or a completely foreign one.

"Hamon users, Pillar Men, vampires…? Interesting. So, it's this world?"

Chang Wei's eyes snapped open, and he immediately burst into laughter.

You've got to be kidding me—it's JOJO?!

As a fake but somewhat dedicated JOJO fan, he had at least watched the anime, though he never found the time to read the manga or play the games. But that didn't matter—everyone knew that the most important thing in JOJO was… Stands!

Ever since Hirohiko Araki introduced Stand Users, concepts like Hamon, Ripple Energy, the Ultimate Life Form, and the Pillar Men had all been thrown to the wayside.

Everyone just wanted to see Stands—at least, most people did.

As for the origin of Stand Users? It actually stemmed from an extraterrestrial virus carried by a meteorite.

The Stand Evolution Theory: Viral Mutation

In Greenland, at a place called Cape York—where only the Inuit lived—there existed a very famous meteorite crater.

This meteorite was said to have crashed to Earth tens of thousands of years ago.

In 1978, during a mineral survey in the crater, two investigators mysteriously fell ill and died. One of them even emitted sparks from his fingers before dying—like a built-in electric baton.

Further research revealed that a virus had been dormant on this meteorite for thousands of years.

In the original JOJO storyline, the arrows that granted Stand abilities were made from the same material as this meteorite.

Centuries ago, those seeking godlike powers learned of the meteorite's existence and forged these arrows.

This virus functioned as a form of evolutionary selection—survival of the fittest.

Most infected individuals would die, but those who survived would receive a "reward" from the virus—gaining supernatural abilities.

That's what Stands were!

A virus?!

Chang Wei didn't care how mystical it sounded—as long as it was a virus, that meant it could become his.

Hell, he might even be able to evolve Requiem Stands or develop a virus that could induce Stand evolution!

The special property of the Requiem Arrow likely stemmed from a unique strain of the virus. As for Kira Yoshikage's unique arrow, which could selectively grant Stand abilities, it was probably a variant of the virus as well.

If he could get his hands on all the Stand Arrows and devour the viruses within them, he might be able to gain every Stand ability, unlock Requiem transformations, and even push Stand evolution beyond its limits!

Of course, aside from the Stand Arrow method, there were actually seven known ways to acquire a Stand.

1. Born with a Stand

Some people naturally inherit a Stand through genetics or personal awakening—like a Bloodline Limit (e.g., Sharingan or Byakugan). Those without this potential typically cannot develop a Stand.

(Example: Muhammad Avdol, Noriaki Kakyoin)

2. Inheriting a Stand from a Stand-User Relative

A person might develop a Stand due to a direct bloodline connection to another Stand user. Even if they're separated by great distances, they can still awaken a Stand.

(Example: Joseph Joestar, Jotaro Kujo—both awakened theirs due to DIO taking Jonathan Joestar's body)

(Example: Weather Report—awakened due to his brother, Enrico Pucci)

3. Achieving Mastery in a Craft

By mastering a particular skill, one might unknowingly develop a Stand that complements it.

(Example: Antonio Trussardi's "Pearl Jam," Aya Tsuji's "Cinderella")

Chang Wei personally believed this method should also fall under the "born with a Stand" category—if you lacked the potential, you simply wouldn't develop one.

4. Being Struck by a Stand Arrow

The most common and widely known method—people pierced by an Arrow might awaken a Stand… or die.

This was the primary Stand acquisition method throughout the first five parts of JOJO.
