Chapter 59 - Chapter 59: A destined encounter

After speaking with the two Solan was quick to learn why Esori was staying at the manor. She had been training with his master wanting to learn further about what she was lacking. Sarah had been living with the Kritanta since she was young, personally trained by Joseph. In other words Sarah witnessed both Esori and Samira birth and grow before she became an admiral.

Though the most surprising part still had shocked Solan. Apparently the space-full manor didn't have enough rooms for Esoir's servants which resulted in Esori herself sleeping in Solan's room. They had gone inside again to eat breakfast which the servant's had prepared but Solan couldn't even enter his room since Esori needed time to change her clothes.

At the dining hall Sarah and Solan sat across from each other, Infront of them stood a long line of delicacies and food's displayed before them. It was a bit quiet due to the awkwardness but Sarah had finally decided to speak after grabbing omelets from the displays. Now that Esori would temporarily be gone Sarah could address the more serious matters.

"I heard about the situation from admiral Benedict... regarding what happened in Komod". The way she spoke hinted that she was specifically speaking about Solan. "...Are you alright?"

The servants of the manor was quick to realize that the conversation would be on the more private matter and had left before the two could speak without Sarah even gesturing to it.

"...Yes, I'm fine... You don't need to worry master". Solan said, speaking whilst cutting into the tendering steak before him. Lowering his fork he pierced into the juices before taking a subtle bite. "...There's no way you feel alright... A vessel resorting to cannibalism is unheard of...".

Solan stayed a bit silent. She was right the incident had impacted his mind slightly. He could remember the taste of iron on his tongue and just thinking about it made the senses come back. "It shocked me a bit too". Solan said still gazing at his steak.

Sarah's eyes gleamed of worry, enough for Solan to see at least. "Ever since you were young that vessel of yours have been nothing but a headache to deal with... Though I'm glad that it's become calmer in the recent years I'm still worried... who knows what the resurgence vessel will make you do in the future you'll lose your sanity at some point".

Sarah was technically right, the resurgence vessel had a special exchanging method. By using it's power Solan would have to sacrifice his own humanity though it was just in the slightest of level and hadn't turned him into a emotionless monster, yet. "There's nothing I can do about, the resurgence is fully part of me now.. All I can do is continue progressing it".

Now that Solan apparently had connected with the third user of the resurgence it had opened a new paths for him to continue learning about his own powers. It worried him still, but he couldn't help but feel a slight tinge of excitement.

Sarah's expression still remained worrying but let the thought's slide knowing Solan could handle and take care of himself. "I see... Just try not to be reckless again Solan, I didn't take care of you all these years only for you to die before me... I'd feel disappointed in myself if that was to happen".

Solan understood her worries and only smiled back accepting the way she cared for him. "...Hah, Knowing the path I will take in the future it wont be guaranteed" Solan remarked with a teasing smirk on his face. His early death was as clear as the lone birds flying through the sky.

Sarah smiled too at his confident smile before huffing to herself. "Alright then, enough of that... How did you like the sky-division? was it fun hunting down criminals? is it something you'd like to do in the future?". Solan wasn't completely sure if she spoke without intentions behind it but answered honestly. "Well It was definitely good for experience, but I don't think I'd ever want to put my life to work with criminals, I have dedicated my own life to pursue to leviathans". Solan spoke honestly.

"So you'll continue work with the lighting division?".

"That's the plan yeah" Solan answered simply.

Sarah huffed before turning to her food with a smile, happy to hear him. As the two continued eating the exit of the dining room started rustling, hinting to someone was entering. Solan was quick to catch onto his mask lying to his side about to get it on. "You don't need to Solan... It's Esori. She'll keep it a secret about your face".

Despite her remark he tightened his grip on the mask hesitating still. It was now or never if he wanted to reveal his face before her. His identity still had to be hidden.

"Solan" Sarah's tone dropped into a serious tone, telling him not to put on the mask. "...You can trust her...". Solan saw the look in her eyes, it was a look that he could trust hopefully. huffing to himself he put the mask aside again and the doors opened fully revealing Esori shifted into a white sun dress that complimented her form. "I hope I didn't take too long, the breakfeast must be cold-"

Esori had stopped in the middle of her sentence once she glanced at Solan's way. Her eyes widened, gasping just slightly that told she was surprised. She glanced over his features, emerald colored eyes that shone beautifully, he had natural tanned skin that told his long work under the sun, a sharp jawline and toned neck that didn't go unnoticed.

"Are you surprised Esori?" Sarah had asked, crossing her arms awaiting her answer with a light smirk on her face, almost like she intended for her to react. Solan himself was a bit unsure if her reaction was a good thing or a bad thing — She could obviously tell it was him without the mask since he was still wearing the same uniform.

"I-.... You look surprisingly handsome" she said chuckling to herself. "Huh? What do you mean by that?" Solan interfered, slightly offended by the answer for some unknown reason. She must've thought Solan looked horrifying beneath the mask was Solan's thought.

"I did expect you to look good...". She regained her composure and stopped giggling to herself before she looked Solan deeply in the eye, her own azure eyes meeting his in a electrifying feeling. "I just didn't expect you to look so young".

Solan felt his body turn a bit warm at her remark before sliding it off like it was nothing. He regained his composure and let off a teasing remark "You must've thought my repeating work at the sea made me grow old?".

"I did". She replied, following her reply by another one. "But knowing sister Sarah still looks like she's in her early twenties despite her work too I'm not really surprised at all the more i think about it". Esori said before deciding to seat herself one chair away from Sarah on the soft cushion beneath. "I was really on edge revealing my face to another person knowing already many have seen my face... I hope you can keep it a secret". Solan explained, looking serious. She nodded with a simple smile before telling him softly "I wont, you can trust me Solan".

As the breakfast continued Solan and Sarah conversed regarding the upcoming meeting soon. Esori did ask questions about it every now and Sarah explained everything yet not, keeping a few details hidden from an ordinary civilian. Solan hadn't noticed it but Esori had glanced his way a few times during the conversation. She had found his distinct green eyes abnormally beautiful. "Is there anything Esori... Or Kritanta?" Solan asked, unsure of how to say her name not wanting to sound disrespectful.

"You can just call me Eso, that's a nickname that my family oftenly use". Sarah who sat beside seemed to almost spit her water but was luckily not noticed by the two. Knowing the girl beside her she wouldn't just let anyone call her by that nickname. Sarah had intended to make the two too get closer as she felt like the two would make a good pair but she wasn't expecting it to escalate that quick. "I was just admiring your eyes, that's it" Esori said again before Sarah had subtly spat her water beneath the table a bit, stunned again.

"are you alright master?" Solan had asked, confused by her weird act. "It's nothing really...". She replied, clearing her throat and raised her glass towards her mouth to soothe her throat with water.

Shortly after the breakfast was finished Esori servants' had already packed her things. Solan had coincidently arrived the day she was leaving as she'd return to her own family estate in Soldat. Standing outside the manor with a navy-blue carriage decorated in gold engravings across it she stood there, giving her goodbyes to the owner and her student of the manor.

"It was good training with you sister Sarah, I'm hoping we can meet soon again as I won't be staying for too long". Esori had said, seemingly a bit disappointed but managed her usual smile. "Yes, give my greetings to your mother and father". "Will do".

As she had turned her attention back at the boy the same age as her she approached him closer. Their height difference very noticeable as he stood more than 5 cm taller than her. "...As I said, I'll only be staying here for a few more days, in case you were free Solan I hope you could show me some good spots around Soldat...". She told him, genuinely smiling.

"Your not familiar with this place?" Solan had asked, a bit surprised. Esori giggled to herself again before telling him "I've lived in Daimon all my life and I've only visited Soldat four times all my life, most of them being my father or sister attending for political matters... I was hoping you could show me around to some beautiful places around here as I feel like your someone who'd know". Solan felt goosebumps crawling up his skin, Eso was definitely sharp as it was the truth. "Sure, I'll show you around soon, just let me know" Solan had smirked, not thinking too much about.

Once Esori had left with her carriage rolling down the uneven trail back to the city Sarah glanced at Solan as he seemed to be in awe for a moment.

"What do you think of her?" she smirked knowingly. Solan was in his own thoughts, from his first impression she was strong, legit. She was beautiful too and the voices in his head were more quiet whenever he had spoken to hear. "...I like her". he revealed. It wasn't the 'like like type', but a genuine one that made him feel intrigued and attracted to her presence.

"That's good... Why don't we head inside and talk a bit more... regarding the upcoming meeting tomorrow". Sarah said as the two made their way back into the manor.
