Chapter 24 - Voices from the Old Well (2/3)

The Full Moon Night and Dita's Choice

POV 1 – Dita

This full moon night feels different. I stand before the old well. A cold breeze blows gently, carrying a stronger scent of kenanga flowers.

I want to know who "my friend" is. I feel there's something she wants to tell me.

"If I climb down, will you come?" I whisper.

The voice returns, soft, almost like the wind's whisper:

"Yes... but you must be brave enough to accept what you find."

My heart pounds. I know I have to choose: remain silent, or dive into a mystery long buried.

I step forward, holding the bamboo rope hanging at the well's edge.

POV 2 – Bu Mirah

Last night, I saw Dita near the well. Her face was pale, but her eyes were bright.

I know this isn't ordinary. I'm afraid something might happen. But I also remember my grandmother's words:

"If a child hears a voice, don't forbid them. It might be a bridge between the lost world and the living."

I stayed quiet, praying God protects that child.

POV 3 – Pak RT

Tonight, I'm at the night watch post. I hear a faint sound coming from the well.

I'm curious but afraid. I know the villagers have begun doubting what I said before.

Then I remember the elders' words:

"That well only keeps secrets not everyone is ready to know."

I grab my flashlight and walk slowly toward the well, hoping to see nothing but darkness and water.

---

POV 4 – Niko

I'm recording all this. The atmosphere grows eerie. When Dita descends a little into the well, a thin mist rises from within.

I hear a song I've never heard before—a language whose meaning I don't know.

But more than that, I feel something... an energy science can't explain.

I realize I'm no longer just investigating folklore. I'm part of the mystery now.

---

POV 5 – Dukun Tarip

I wait with a small offering, beneath the moonlight.

Dita has a strong heart. But this isn't just about physical courage.

I know there are two paths for those souls:

— Rest in peace, or

— Be trapped forever.

I hope Dita's choice will bring goodness.
