(Three days later)
Cael was trying to look over his stocks portfolio when McAllister and Jonathan walked into his office, both of them looking grim and sober.
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as he dropped his tablet on his table. "The look on your faces just makes me know this will not be pleasant visit."
"We got a call from guy at the city police," Jonathan said as he and McAllister took their seats. "They pulled a body from the river two towns away last night "
Cael's eyes snapped to him. " Is it anyone we know?"
McAllister nodded soberly, "Unfortunately yes. It is Rowan."
Cael exhaled slowly, leaning back in his chair. "Well fuck. Are they certain it is him and not someone that looks like him?"
"He wasn't identified by face... half of his body had already been eaten up by fishes and decay. They identified him by fingerprints."
"Dear goddess, his parents will be devastated. How did he die?" Cael asked.
