Vivi sighed softly, then glanced at Lance. "So, you mean we are not in New York?"
Lance shook his head. "No, at least for now, we are still in New York," Lance said, then examined the strange patterns adorning the walls of the ancient temple. There was something unsettling Lance felt, something that felt... foreign.
"This smell..." Lance murmured quietly. "It comes from ancient times, from a reality that has not fully formed as it is now."
Lance's gaze sharpened. "I have a general idea of where this place is. In ancient times, there were three Sorcerers who pursued demons and ultimately fell into this wretched place. It is said that this temple is dedicated to an evil god. So, it should indeed be here."
Christine felt a chill run down her neck. "Don't tell me those three monsters are the three Sorcerers?"
Lance nodded slowly, his voice a bit lower. "That's right. They are known as the 'Three Arts Sorcerers.' Once, they were legendary figures in their era—masters of magic who opposed darkness. However, time has never favored anyone. After thousands of years, their magical powers eventually waned... and that was when the demons seized the opportunity, possessing them and turning them into monsters."
As Lance spoke, suddenly, his expression changed sharply. Calmly, Lance murmured, "Now, it's your turn to free them."
"What?"
Christine and Vivi barely had time to react when three pairs of red eyes shone from within the thick darkness before them. A terrifying aura crept through the air, making their breaths feel as if they were frozen in their throats.
Lance stood tall, showing no fear whatsoever. "I have temporarily spread magical power through their bodies, enough to weaken them. However, the environment here is special. They will soon awaken again."
As Lance glanced at the two girls, a faint yet dangerous smile appeared on his face. "This is a great opportunity to train you. With only one-hundredth of their original power, they are perfect training opponents."
Christine swallowed hard, her body trembling slightly. Her expression reflected deep shock and anxiety.
After all, before all this happened, Christine was just an ordinary person. It was hard for her to remain calm after witnessing such a horrifying sight—undead sorcerers moving like humans, with a dark aura enveloping their bodies.
But it didn't matter. Christine just needed more training!
On the other hand, Vivi seemed much more excited. As a CIA commander, Vivi rarely fought directly, but her abilities were on par with any elite agent. After obtaining the White Lantern Ring, Vivi wanted to test it out. Now was the perfect time to practice in a real battlefield.
"I'll give you additional protection," Lance said with a thin smile. Lance's hand moved quickly, and in an instant, several talismans shot toward Christine and Vivi, sticking to their bodies one by one. A soft blue light enveloped them, signaling the effect of the supportive magic just granted.
As usual, the talismans enhanced attacks, increased speed, strengthened defense, boosted endurance, and reduced damage taken. In fact, there was even a talisman that provided a counterattack effect against enemies.
Feeling the wave of energy flowing into her body, Christine slowly took a deep breath, feeling a bit calmer than before. Meanwhile, Vivi clenched her fists eagerly, almost impatient to charge at the enemy.
Of course, Vivi was not a reckless person.
They were now facing three undead sorcerers, each with different powers. Ranged attacks were the best option at the moment.
Suddenly, a chilling voice echoed in the air.
"Hohohoho!!"
The skeletons of the sorcerers moved, their intact robes billowing, and a swirl of thick black air circled around them. The sounds coming from their throats were not human voices, but rather terrifying growls that seemed to come from the depths of hell.
Each sorcerer wielded a different weapon. One held a staff adorned with ancient spell carvings, another wielded a large sword with both hands, while the last had antlers on his head and wore a robe with faintly glowing magical symbols.
The three of them charged forward at high speed.
Vivi stepped forward, her eyes filled with determination. "I will lead, you support me!"
"Alright!" Christine bit her lip, then raised her hand and quickly recited a spell. Christine's fingers moved to form a seal before finally pointing forward.
"Bakudō #30: Shitotsu Sansen! (Triple-Flash Beak Slash)!"
Three golden triangles of light appeared in the air and shot towards the wizards at high speed. This technique was not meant for attacking, but its binding power was extraordinary. If they were trapped, their movements would be halted.
However, the stag-horned wizard suddenly cupped both palms in front of his chest. In an instant, a deep purple magic ball was shot from the center of his palms, colliding with Christine's triangles of light. An explosion occurred in the air, causing the ground around them to tremble.
At the same time, Vivi had also moved. As Vivi quickly formed a hand seal, her voice rang out clearly amidst the battle.
"My lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creations, flap your wings, you who bear the name of man! Hell and chaos, barrier of the surging sea, advance to the south!"
"Hadō #31: Shakkahō! (Red Flame Cannon)!"
A cannon-sized red fireball shot from her palm, crashing towards the wizards with blazing force. The fire exploded violently, engulfing them in a wave of heat.
The stag-horned wizard was thrown back, his body partially burned. However, the other two managed to withstand it—the staff-wielding wizard stomped his foot on the ground, creating a wave of black wind that deflected some of the flames, while the sword-wielding wizard used his weapon as a shield, absorbing the impact of the attack.
Then, the two rushed forward.
The staff-wielding wizard swung his weapon to the ground, generating a fierce wind that swirled around them, while the sword-wielding wizard jumped high, diving down with his gleaming sharp sword.
This was clearly a close-combat specialist wizard. His movements were incredibly agile, and even though he had been a living corpse for thousands of years, the blade still shone with a terrifying cold glint.
