I thought I had it in me to act cold and indifferent but when she cried that I was the source of her nightmares, I almost lost it.
The agony in her voice and freely flowing tears had my heart in shambles. If I stayed there anymore I would be begging for forgiveness.
I didn't even know how to console her without touching her and she needed someone to hold her in that moment.
My arms weren't the ones to do it even though my heart didn't want to leave her in such a fragile state.
A thorn seemed to have been stuck in my throat at the thought that I was the cause of her nightmares. What kind of monster she must assume me to be?
This was a kind of torture I had never anticipated or believed I would be subjected to.
So I quietly left the room and fetched Asbela.
"Arata had a nightmare and she needs womanly support. Stay with her for the night," I ordered Asbela with a heavy heart.
