Eyrx tilted his head, eyes flicking down to her with unreadable calm. "I'll need to sit behind you," he said simply. "You'll be in front, between my legs."
Thalina froze. "What?"
His expression didn't change. Not even a twitch. "It's the proper position for beginners. I need to guide your flow from the back."
Her mouth opened, then closed again. Her thoughts scattered.
Was this male serious?
Her eyes flicked toward the space behind her, then back to him, and heat immediately bloomed across her cheeks. "That's… Are you messing with me right now?" she asked, narrowing her gaze. "I feel like you just made that up to get close to me."
Eyrx blinked, utterly unmoved. "I'm going to teach you how to conjure fire from thin air."
That got her.
Thalina's eyes lit up like stars, her posture straightening in a flash. "Wait, really? Like actual fire? You can do that?"
