Classes were like the days that passed quickly as the fall came and went as the temperature dropped as winter rolled in. The grounds that were once green were covered in a blanket of white as the snow shone brightly under the sun.
Now tucked into the corner of the classroom where a fire is lit to warm the room. Felix is finishing up his Potion Book for the year. He had already finished up the Charms one and had a few more books to write. Even his alchemy book was making progress and the first one should be done soon.
Placing his quill down as he raised his arms to stretch, Felix looked over to Angel. She was the only other person in this room as John didn't come. John was unlucky and got assigned a detention and is currently scrubbing the trophy room.
"I still don't know why John got assigned the detention. It's not like he was using the hoverboard in the halls." Felix sighed at his friend's luck.
"It's because the Defense Teacher is old fashioned. Some witches and wizards strongly oppose change, especially among Purebloods. Since change will bring about a reshuffle of power and wealth." Angel replied.
"Not the answer I was looking for." Felix commented.
Angel just glared at him which made Felix tremble as he held back his laughter. The glare wasn't really piercing, but given a few more years and it would. She has recently gotten much better after finding out about her brother and two other friends.
After being taught the charm, Angel had discovered that her brother James, Sirius and Peter were animagi. Knowing that these fools wouldn't register nor cared about the danger if they failed. She was ready to scold them, but Felix just blocked since it wouldn't do much good.
"So I was meaning to ask, but what's up with the basket of apples?" Felix shifted topics.
On the corner of Angel's table was a basket of red apples. There weren't too many, just around ten or so neatly stacked in a basket. There was another apple before her as she looked at the notebook she wrote and tried to cast a spell on it. Yet the only thing that happened was the apple exploding.
"I am trying to create a Golden Apple. I found some records of them in the library and wanted to try and create one myself." Angel answered. "My respect for you being able to create so many projects has raised dramatically."
Felix felt his cheeks wanting to heat up since he sort of cheated in that regard. He only needed to search various Paths to find what he wanted and write it down. Afterwards he just needed to backtrack and breakdown what is involved so the project can be done.
"Is it the Golden Apple I am thinking of?" Felix asked. "The apple that is said to grant longevity, heal all wounds and found on the dining table of Greek Gods?"
"Well, that is one legend of them, but close enough." Angel nodded. "I thought I worked out the issue, but I still can't make them."
'If a second year student could make them, then the world would be full of witches and wizards hundreds of years old. By then Nicholas Flamel's six hundred years of life wouldn't be so impressive.' Felix thought to himself.
Felix didn't feel like saying otherwise Angel would huff and puff on top of being annoyed with him. So he could only bury that in his heart while leaning back in his chair. The thought of making Golden Apples did make him curious enough to try and make them.
The Golden Apple had quite a few potions it could be used for as an ingredient. It was among the few kinds of potions that could cure Basilisk Venom too. Yet, it is unknown if Golden Apples truly exist in the past. Many in history had claimed to have eaten one, but little evidence proves their claims.
"Do you want me to look at it?" Felix asked.
"Fine." Angel said loudly as she threw down her book.
Clearly her failures have taken their toll on her. So Felix gently picked up the book and began to look over her work. While looking over, he found many similarities to the Cup of Life inside. So picking up his quill, Felix began to peek into various Paths to begin scribbling down an edited version for her.
While he was at it, Felix also wrote down the process of breeding the sapling so Golden Apples could grow on them. It felt interesting to create an orchard of them in the future. So he tucked it into his own notebook for large and time consuming ideas.
Upon looking at the changes made by Felix, Angel looked both graceful and annoyed. She wanted to show off that she could create something amazing too, but fell short. While the annoyance, Felix guessed it was caused by him taking a look and writing various changes so quickly.
"Thanks." Angel said as she pulled out another apple.
"No problem. Asking for help when one is stuck isn't a bad thing." Felix smiled at her.
By the time they left the room, Angel had a basket of golden apples. Due to being crafted apples, they could only heal broken bones and gave about three years of life. They were currently like a cheap version of the ones in legends as those needed to grow on a tree.
"What are you going to do with the apples?" Felix asked.
"Dunno." Angel replied.
