Chapter 22 - ~022 Mage Ascension Exam I

"Finally! I am done with today's task!" Davi smiled.

The past few days have been full of intense training.

The system kept giving him mission after mission, slowly Davi began to feel his own growth and felt extremely satisfied with his accomplishments.

The system had even sent him to the abyss of purgatory against his own will where he had to fight three monsters as a 'trial'.

It was a time of torment for Davi… He died a number of times before he was able to take down a single monster.

The windcaller he thought would be amazing turned out to be just above average but more than enough to deal with the monsters.

Though it goes without saying that his joy for obtaining the windcaller was totally extinguished.

A typical example of what I ordered vs what I received.

~Sigh.

"System open up the interface," Davi said.

[Ding!]

The smile on Davi's lips grew wide.

The training was worth it!

"Even if I could not reach the peak in my refinement of the skin, I should be in my late stage… My stats have improved quite a bit," Davi said, as he looked at his soul and physical strength.

"I wonder why my soul points are the slowest to advance when my exp points have already maxed out… Quite a pity indeed. At least my asura points have increased…

Hehe…

In a matter of time I bet I will be able to buy more from the 'shop'," Davi thought.

Slowly stretching his body he called out.

"Russell! Are you done?" Davi asked.

"Just a minute brother… I cannot seem to find where I kept our tokens.

I swear it must be around here, somewhere…" Russell replied.

"Ohk… Whenever you have found it just let me kn…" Davi said.

However before he could finish Russell cut him off saying…

"Found it!" Russell said.

"Took you long enough," Davi said.

~Sigh

"At least I found it… The least you could do is be grateful," Russell said.

"Yh whatever… Now let's get going the exam would soon start.

By the way thank you for finding my token esteemed brother," Davi said.

"Hahaha… You're very much welcome little brother," Russell said

Reciprocating Davi's sarcasm.

Pttft!!!

"Little what?" Davi said… A clear tone of 'fake' anger.

"Oh nothing… I said nothing," Russell replied feigning ignorance.

After the brothers joked around for a few more minutes, they were finally ready to depart.

"We would use the caravan right? There is no way we would make it to the Ashwood Forest on time," Davi asked.

"Well… No! We would use our legs so get ready… There is a long day ahead of us!" Russell replied.

~Sigh

"You're the boss, you lead the way!" Davi said.

"I said stop calling me BOSS!!!" Russell replied.

"Whatever, not like it's a big deal," Davi said.

"How are you even my twin?" Russell asked.

"How would I know?" Davi replied.

Soon enough, the twin duo departed the inn and headed for the gates that would leave the Blue Sky City for the Ashwood Forest.

The city was crowded, mages and commoners alike all made way towards the exit all with a common goal in mind.

The rich decided to use the transportation services, while those that could not afford it had their legs all to themselves.

The journey was uneventful, although the discussion amongst the crowd was really interesting.

"Hey I heard a magic archon would be overseeing this exam," Crowd A said.

"No! It is a magic grandmaster, the daughter of Duke Fredrick," Crowd B argued.

"So you haven't heard?" Crowd A continued.

"The magic archon from an unknown power appeared this morning and decided to observe the test to recruit disciples.

It's no wonder the crowd exponentially increased this morning, even greater than those who initially registered," Crowd A said.

"Who is a magic archon?" Crowd C asked.

"A magic archon is four major classes above the magic acolyte… A true mage!" Crowd A responded.

As gasps resounded throughout the crowd.

Crowd A felt rather pleased with himself over this bit of his knowledge.

"Hoho!!! This exam will be interesting… My anticipation is growing by the minute!" Davi said after listening to their discussions.

After about another hour of walking along with the crowd, they were met with another huge crowd that had already arrived before them.

Up ahead in the distance, the giant Ashwood trees stood erect as tall and ancient as an oak tree.

"This crowd is massive brother! It's a pity you cannot see so for yourself if not you would definitely also be shocked!" said Russell.

"Is that an insult?" Davi asked although he knew that's not what Russell meant.

"For once, can you take things seriously!" Russell said.

"Fine!" Davi replied after some hesitation.

Russell on the other hand kept on looking around holding Davi's hand tightly in the process so as to not lose him to the vast crowd.

The number of mages and commoners gathered for the exam was the biggest ever recorded in the history of the Blue Sky Kingdom, numbering approximately 50,000 people.

Although a huge number of them consisted of those from the nearby surrounding kingdoms as well.

The King was obviously pleased… If all things go well, perhaps his kingdom would rise greatly in power.

It was already noon, two more hours had passed before a voice resounded, reaching everyone's ears with such a huge intensity.

Immediately, the hushed discussions ended as everyone looked towards the sky.

A visible silhouette of a person could be seen rushing over from the depths of the Ashwood Forest.

What was even more shocking was the fact that this figure was none other than the Duke's daughter, as well as a renowned mage across the world.

Holding the current title of the youngest to have reached the magic grandmaster class at the shocking age of 22.

With a smile on her lips she said:

"I welcome you all to this once-in-a-lifetime event… The Mage Ascension Exam!!!"
