Chapter 23 - let's make a deal ( chapter 23 )

Black. Everything was black.

Once again, Morgan opened his eyes slowly, realizing he was inside his mind again. He struggled to get up and sat on the ground.

"Ahhh... here I am again..."

(Morgan said, tired.)

As he turned his head, he saw the man with black hair and blue eyes, slightly crouched, staring at him with a confident smile on his face.

"Good morning, little lord."

(The man said mockingly.)

Morgan frowned when he saw him.

"And what do you want now?"

(Morgan asked, irritated.)

"Oh, nothing... I just came to see the little lord who finally decided to become a man."

(The man replied, mocking.)

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

(Morgan asked, confused.)

"What do you mean, what am I talking about?"

(The man said while chuckling softly.)

"I don't know if you've realized this, but we share the same body. I see and hear everything you see and hear, even your thoughts. And from what I saw, you finally decided to do what needs to be done."

The man showed a wide smile—a wicked smile.

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

Morgan frowned deeper, confused and annoyed.

"What I mean, kid,"

(The man said seriously,)

"Is that you finally realized that your ideals don't work in this place. And now, you're willing to do whatever it takes to survive here."

The man let out a soft laugh.

"You're wrong."

(Morgan replied coldly.)

"Huh?"

The man's smile faded, his face turning more serious.

Morgan stood up decisively and pointed at the man.

"Yes, I made up my mind. I didn't know my purpose in this world, but now I do..."

(Morgan said with confidence.)

"I'm going to save them. I'm going to help them all. I won't let anyone go through what those people went through—never again."

Morgan said this with pride and firmness, looking the man in the eyes.

"I see..."

The man nodded, a slight mocking smile appearing on his lips.

"In that case, you understand that to reach that goal, you'll have to eliminate those who stand in your way."

The man laughed, as if he already knew the answer.

"You're wrong."

Morgan cut him off without hesitation.

"That's the path I've chosen, but I'm not going to kill anyone. I'm not like that. I'm not like you, or like them, who think the only solution is to take the life of whoever stands in the way. I'm going to change this world, and I'll do it without taking a single life."

Morgan smiled confidently, as if his words were the absolute truth.

The man frowned, clearly irritated. He stood up suddenly and moved closer to Morgan, standing face to face.

"I don't believe you..."

(The man said coldly.)

"After everything you've seen, you still cling to that nonsense? Haven't you realized?! In this world, they'll eat you alive if you hold on to those ideals! If you want to survive and make the change you talk about, you'll have to do whatever it takes—no matter the cost."

The man stared at him, defiant.

"I don't care what you or anyone else thinks. I'll do things my way, because that's what's right."

(Morgan said, his gaze full of determination and a confident smile on his face.)

"An idiot..."

The man looked at him with disdain after hearing his response.

"Just a foolish child. That's all you are... But fine, do whatever you want. Sooner or later, you'll realize that those ideas in your head are just that... ideas. And fake ideals. This is the real world."

(The man said with contempt.)

Morgan didn't flinch. He just smiled.

"I'll prove to you there's another way. There's always another way."

(Morgan said, full of confidence.)

The man stared at him, as if he'd found something interesting in his response. He touched his chin and then pointed at Morgan.

"In that case, let's make a deal. If you're so sure you can do things your way..."

(The man said, with a wicked yet confident smile.)

"If you prove to me that the way you speak of really exists, I'll give you full control of this power, and I'll disappear forever. And when we need to fight... I'll do it for you. I don't want to die yet. If you keep control, we'll die soon. So I'll be the one to fight in your place. What do you say?"

"I accep—"

Before he could finish, the man interrupted him, staring into Morgan's eyes.

"But..."

The man raised a hand, and the air around him grew dense.

"If at any moment you think of killing someone out of revenge or rage... if you stray even slightly from those ideals of yours, then I'll take this body for myself, and you'll be lost forever. You won't come back."

The man's gaze turned cold—intimidating.

He extended his hand, and a bright blue flame emerged from it.

"Do you accept?"

(The man asked in a menacing tone.)

Morgan looked at the hand, and without hesitation, took it. With a determined look, he said:

"I accept."

The man observed Morgan's smile, and his own grew wider, confident.

"Then we have a deal, kid. Let's see who's right. It'll be a pleasure working with you... partner."

The image of the man slowly began to fade, until it vanished completely. Morgan blinked, and when he opened his eyes, he realized he was in a completely different place. He was lying on a luxurious bed in a room that looked like a prestigious office.

He sat up quickly, rubbed his eyes, and noticed he was wearing new clothes. He looked around and saw a woman at a desk, reviewing papers with full concentration. Her skin was grayish, her eyes turquoise, and her body had a reptilian appearance, with scales and a reptile-like tail.

Morgan felt completely lost, not knowing where he was or who the woman was. The moment he moved slightly to sit up in bed, the woman looked up without lifting her eyes from the documents.

"I see you're awake."

(She said calmly, still focused on the papers.)

"W-Where am I?"

(Morgan asked, holding his head, with a slight migraine.)

The woman put down the papers and looked at him, smiling. She opened her arms in a welcoming gesture, her eyes full of seduction and mystery.

"Welcome to Nytingale Academy."
