"Attack!" While everyone was still immersed in the strong sense of shock brought by the huge lava half-body giant in front of them, Onigumo had already drawn his saber.
As a seasoned veteran who had experienced many battles, Onigumo knew that in the rapidly changing naval battle, seizing every precious opportunity would tilt the balance of the battle towards his side.
Even though he knew that there was a powerful force like Vice Admiral Sakazuki who controlled one side of the battlefield, Onigumo was still willing to do his best in this stable battle, to exercise his skills and tactical abilities as much as possible in every battlefield.
"Order, tighten the sails, and prepare the cannons on both sides!"
The marines on the deck of the vanguard ship carried out the orders they had just received in an orderly manner. These experienced naval veterans silently and quickly carried out their own part according to their task assignments.
Dozens of sailors lined up in two rows, pulling the ropes together, tightening the sails to the tightest. Dozens of well-trained snipers beside the wooden railing on the second floor seized the high ground under the command of the officers.
And the combatants on the deck were already ready for battle.
Lindbergh, who was on the flagship and took over Sakazuki's command in order, naturally saw the flag signal of the vanguard ship. He smiled and watched the vanguard ship begin to accelerate, and praised softly: "As expected of Rear Admiral Onigumo, he seized this battle opportunity perfectly."
"Fleet formation change!" Lindbergh's narrow eyes suddenly widened. "Follow the vanguard ship, full fleet in column formation advance."
Onigumo noticed the change in the fleet. The fox had previously served as his adjutant. The two of them had excellent tacit understanding and made the most beneficial tactics in the shortest time almost without verbal communication. "Artillery ranging!!" The fierce-looking Rear Admiral roared.
Sakazuki, on the other hand, was not in a hurry to destroy the second pirate ship beside him. These pirates were valuable materials for the legion, fuel for the burning.
When the first volley mostly hit the pirate ship beside Sakazuki, he took out a Den Den Mushi wearing a military cap from the inside of his coat. It was his personal communication tool.
"Second volley prepare!"
The fleet of warships, led by the vanguard ship, formed a column formation. Under the fierce artillery suppression, they fiercely crashed into the formation of the pirate fleet.
"Quick, quick, quick! Fight back!" The pirate ship serving as the flagship gave orders anxiously, but his voice was completely drowned out by the whistling fleet volley.
"Fire!"
"Fire!"
"Fire!"
The cannons on both sides of the warships wantonly spewed fire, returning the pirates' messy counterattack many times over.
With the help of the fleet volley, the ram of the vanguard ship had already crashed into the side of a pirate ship.
"For the Legion!" Onigumo took the lead and pounced on the pirates who were lined up to meet the enemy.
In mid-air, leaping towards the pirates, his brown long hair scattered in the wind, and instantly twisted into powerful arms, each holding a bright military saber.
Eight blade lights arrived almost simultaneously.
In the blink of an eye, a bloody ring spread out on the deck of the pirate ship.
Only then did the pirates' bodies fall to the ground.
With the officer being so brave, veterans like Tullius and Reno were not to be outdone. They swung their grappling hooks and grabbed the ropes of the pirate ship, rushing towards this side.
The dark-skinned veteran did not use the single-edged standard military saber, but wielded a double-edged short sword. He blocked a scimitar that was slashing towards him with one sword, and then swung his arm and stabbed several pirates in the neck, opening a bloody hole.
"I say, Tullius, you're pretty ruthless!" Reno, a North Blue veteran holding a Navy standard-issue flintlock rifle with a bayonet attached, shot a pirate operating a cannon in the distance, and still had time to say a few words.
His hands did not stop. He did not continue to load gunpowder, but used the rifle as a spear, using the bayonet to slash left and right, knocking down two pirates.
Tullius, who had just been promoted to temporary staff officer by Onigumo, pointed to the right: "See the headquarters marines over there?"
"I'm not blind! What about it?" Reno spat in the face of a nearby pirate. Taking advantage of the moment the other party closed his eyes, he skillfully used the bayonet to block the heavy mace, and with a flick of his wrist, he cut a large gash in the pirate's neck.
Watching the pirate fall down helplessly, clutching the gushing blood, Tullius rolled his eyes: "I heard Rear Admiral Onigumo say that they will popularize this kind of battle formation for us veterans from the Four Seas. A reckless guy like you who always goes solo into the pirate crowd will definitely be scolded to death!"
While they were talking, the place where they were standing had already been cleared out, and the Navy fleet had cut off the formation of the pirate fleet in the middle.
The bombardment of artillery had basically come to an end, turning into a more bloody and dangerous boarding battle.
Sakazuki used Moon Walk to smash into a pirate ship. He looked down at the battlefield on the deck below.
However, the broadcasting Den Den Mushi on more than a dozen warships, with the volume turned to the maximum, completely drowned out the shouts of killing.
The marines on each ship heard Sakazuki's voice through the transmission of the Den Den Mushi: "The best warships, the best weapons and ammunition, and the most generous military pay, are you satisfied?"
"Hey, hey!" Tullius knocked a pirate on the head with the hilt of his sword, knocking him unconscious. "Is this a pre-battle mobilization?"
"Hahahaha, is our officer this reckless?" Reno laughed and knocked down the pirate in front of him, smashing his head into the deck with a rifle butt.
In the smoke, the two sides were still fighting. The veteran marines, from mentality to skills, were obviously much more skilled than the pirates.
This pirate fleet, which had just departed from the North Blue, was a target that Sakazuki had been watching for several months. If the number of pirates was too small, it would not be enough for the expeditionary fleet to divide. If the individual strength of the pirates was too strong, it would not be convenient for battlefield control.
Therefore, when the expeditionary army was still training at headquarters, Sakazuki strictly ordered Onigumo to monitor its course at all times.
Sakazuki shouted into the Den Den Mushi: "Every night, the nightmares that haunt you in the dark are the battlefield! The comrades who died in front of you, the sudden rain of artillery fire and bullets!"
In a battle group, Bellemere was leaning against the railing on the second floor of the warship, reloading bullets. She expressionlessly叼着(held in her mouth) a toothpick: "Kerrigan, what exactly does the legion commander want to say?"
After shooting down a pirate on the lookout from a long distance, Kerrigan reloaded the special sniper rifle in her arms. She sighed slightly and asked back: "He is stating a fact. After retiring, haven't you had nightmares about all this?"
"Someone warned me, saying that most of the soldiers in this legion are veterans with war trauma! If you have a choice, give you the best headquarters elites!" Sakazuki landed heavily, standing in the middle of the soldiers, assisting Onigumo and other marines to force the pirates back to a corner of the deck.
Reno looked at the lord of the legion in front of him, and his tone was slightly complaining: "Although everyone knows what kind of people they are, the legion commander's words are too blunt!"
Sakazuki looked around at the veterans. There was dissatisfaction, there was anger, but more of it was numbness to his words.
He then continued to roar: "I told him! I appreciate it! I want these veterans who have experienced life and death! Everyone may have different views on justice, but there are too many unanswered questions on the battlefield!"
Sakazuki pushed through the crowd and walked towards the pirates who had been forced into a corner. Lava dripped from his arm: "But at this moment, you don't need any answers."
