Zheng Fa's words were very pragmatic; these weren't the rules of the Xuanwei Realm, but rather modern rules—the obligations of rulers to protect those they govern.
Even in his view, the disciples of Jiushan Sect, cough, should not only represent advanced productivity but also the broad interests of the citizens of the Jiushan Realm...
The more elite the disciples, the more this was the case.
This point is rare in the Xuanwei Realm:
For sects of the Xuanwei Realm, demanding offerings is one thing, but the obligation to protect citizens... exists, just seldom.
However, this reasoning was not something that Sun Daoyu and the others could not understand.
