Chapter 148 - Killing, a, Mephisto?

My staff hummed with power as the ground below me began shaking. Localised earthquakes began radiating outwards from my feet, each pulse shredding the spears of magma that were flung towards me. Black mist flexed outwards and expanded from the centre of my newly forged staff, the dimensional energy collecting with the blackness and slowly condensing into pure magic.

"You will die for stepping inside of my realm!" I rolled my eyes as Mephisto tried the usual Villain monologue route. All of them spoke the same drivel whenever you did something against them or told them no.

Thus I chose not to respond verbally... The fact that I arched my staff forwards and willed the pure magic to burst forwards and consume him with a burst of Fiendfyre? Just self defence, I assure you.

Anyway, a vigorous cyan flame leapt from the horn-like protrusions upon my staff and coiled into the nimbus of an enormous Hydra. Each head snapped downwards towards Mephisto as he recoiled and began channelling enormous amounts of energy, the entire floor below him rising like a tsunami wave in an attempt to choke the flames of oxygen.

The unfortunate truth to fighting in his realm was his reality warping however as the attempt became inevitable and all the magical flame was choked by the immutable rules that he hastily glued onto his realm. I felt my eyes scrunch as I watched my flames be consumed when they were supposed to do that very thing.

'I need to get him out of his realm. Perhaps the Bifrost?' My thought was interrupted as the cliché super villain teleported next to me and attempted to bend space around me, his claws raking through the air as he stood not but five metres away.

"No." The very fabric of space around me began pulling and squeezing against my skin before my singular word pulled upon my godly domain, causing hundreds of playing cards to endlessly multiply and cut through everything he was trying to manipulate.

"ARGH! Bitch!" In a circular motion each card sliced into space itself and cleaved his control over it, shredding every attempt to touch it whilst simultaneously flinging spatial shards towards him in the visual form of glass shards.

Those shards, after exiting the golden nimbus that now encompassed me and Harry's parents, soon faded and popped out of existence, Mephisto's control over his domain snapping itself into place like a rabid dog. Ignoring the chuckles that soon escaped the demon's capricious mouth I focussed on my senses, feeling the ebbs and flows of the dimensional energy around me. It was an ocean of death, a tide of fire and heat. All energy within this plane was wrapped in the caressing embrace of infernal compact. This hadn't been his realm originally, he merely tricked someone into a deal that ended poorly for them.

'No doubt one of Lucifer's friends...?' I mentally shrugged as another wave of wet earth surged toward me, flames licking their exterior and forming into the shapes of imps, dogs and smoky spectres.

A scream surged from behind me as the souls of James and Lily tried their best to cling to me. Turning my head minutely I noticed the insipid trick of Mephisto who was attacking me with his version of hell's flames from behind. Blinking just once I slapped my hand towards the flames and doused them with a mountain of magical power, the magic forming into a wave of pure pressure that washed an entire direction with the same eerie white as the space that Yggdrasil had sat upon.

With the momentum of that strike I turned into the wave of earth foisted at me and raised my staff, the shape morphing into a sword as the consciousness within the artefact seemingly roared out in indignation. With the might and weight of dimensions backing up the stab upwards the realm itself squealed in pain.

Flecks of piss-coloured earth evaporated into gasses and plasmas as that eerie space that had freed me from fate enveloped everything in front of the blade. Mix heat, pressure and an intense rictus of energy and you would observe what was currently smouldering away in a wave towards Mephisto. A star. A literal sun was exploding outwards towards the infernal little shit and he was rearing back in mild shock.

My vision was blocked from there but that did little to stop me from continuing my bombardment. The sword morphed back into its former shape, the fractal shards of magic swirling powerfully before conjoining at the zenith of the staff and charging with energy. If heat pressure and energy created a sun, what created a blackhole? The answer...? Gravity, oblivion and an intense desire to consume everything. The perfect symbology for the miniature dot that had coagulated at the very tip of the gathered shards.

The sun that had been previously flung landed with all of the sound of space itself, the very substance of sound being burnt from the realm in this second. Plasma parted and plopped over the ground, incinerating every small atom on its journey to immolate Mephisto. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, the enraged demon-king survived the first proper blow. His horns were glowing bright orange and yellow as his skin sizzled softly under the caress of lingering plasma.

"I'll kill you..." The first sound to flood back in were these simple words from the entity, his eyes trying to drill into my soul no doubt, despite the weakness of his compared to mine.

"Unfortunately not. Have fun in oblivion."

The small inconspicuous dot at the end of the staff was lowered down and aimed towards the entity, his entire form expanding as he tried to enter his 2nd phase. But like most boss monsters he couldn't fathom the sheer amount of DPS coming his way as he transitioned from his rather tame 'aesthetic' look to his monstrous abominable form.

'I'm firing my laser...'

The black dot began softly vibrating as the dark dimension's energy was condensed. It began spinning when the mirror dimension's powers reflected all momentum and velocity back onto it. Gaining gyroscopic dimensionality was the next phase within these few heartbeats as time itself punctured into oblivion and the twisted with all the malice of a betrayal.

"BOOOM, Bitch."

*ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM*

That spinning bead of ensorcelled death flattened and stretched outwards into a second dimensional line. That line then instantly emerged across the space between myself and Mephisto. Sound was perforated once again as the very space surrounding the strip of black shattered. Reality flinched in its presence as the majority of the stored magic and energy within the staff blitzed out into this line of power, like a dam breaking upon the force of nature.

Shock covered Mephisto's face as his eyes popped out of his skull, sickly red-black blood oozing down his inflamed cheeks. Hair, once luscious and beautiful, turned sickly white and grey as spaghettification slowly commenced, the end of the line coiling endlessly upon itself as gravity intensified and time itself bowed before its growing mass.

Every atom other than myself felt its pull within the smallest measurements of time, their structural integrity bowing before the despotically primordial allure of pure oblivion.

"I wonder if there is any loot?"

The only answer to my question was the quiet consumption of his shard within this universe. It seemed I had gotten my answer...

"Come on Lily, James. We have a boy who I am guessing would like to meet you. Oh! And his recently freed godfather." The entire realm began collapsing around me and my saved souls; the remaining souls being foisted away by death herself.

'Guess I get to tell Luci that I killed this version of him...'

...

Emerging from the pseudo-hell that Mephisto had stolen from someone else, I looked around and found the same staircase, that I had originally departed from, before me. It was exactly the same barring the singular rolled scroll that was nailed to one of the bannisters.

The souls of Lily and James attempted to pass on but failed as they were covered by my aura. It was an issue that would need solving soon. Fortunately, the very spell they used was still in effect and attached to Godric's Hollow. With a wave of my hand, basking in the remaining embers of my god-like powers, I pulled their bodies from subspace and gracefully dropped them onto the floor behind me, their souls instantly sucking towards their brains.

In the breath between their souls' return and their awakening to life I stepped forwards and began reading the note... The smart ass bastard who sent me on this mission gloating at my expense.

To Whom It Clearly Concerns-(Yes, I mean you, darling.)

Congratulations on not disintegrating, imploding, or otherwise catastrophically failing to complete the little task I set before you.

I must admit-when I handed you the reins to a realm stolen, stitched, and stupidly ruled by that infernal little peacock Mephisto, I expected… well, entertainment, at best. And carnage, at worst. But you surprised me. You always do, don't you?

You wielded suns like lanterns and whispered gravity into nightmares. How poetic. How very you. Frankly, I would have handled it in a more... refined fashion-perhaps a drink, a little divine conversation, and then watching the realm collapse under the weight of its own ego. But alas, not all of us can weaponize sarcasm and jazz like I can.

Oh, and the cards? Inspired. Consider me... 1% impressed. Maybe 2% if you managed to steal something on your way out. Now, I suspect you're standing there, robes smouldering, gods stunned, and souls weeping at your feet. Good. Enjoy your victory. But don't get comfortable. Saving souls and smiting devils is exhausting business, and you've only just started.

After all, I did send you. And I never send someone unless it benefits me in the end.

Yours in eternal charm,

Lucifer Morningstar

Lord of Hell,

Former Ruler of the Silver City,

Occasional Pianist,

And the Best-Dressed Being in the Multiverse.

P.S.

If Mephisto somehow survived as a singing eyeball or flaming ribcage, do be a dear and squash it.

"For fuck's sakes..." I facepalmed at his tone, my mind crying out in pain as I realised that using the power granted by the three fates was exhausting.

'Who could have figured... Using freedom from everything as a weapon could be tiring?'

No one answered, but that was a good thing. Means I wasn't insane yet, though if the last 24 hours were any indication then the 'yet' had to be emphasised. Groaning echoed out behind me as Lily and James slowly awoke, their bodies looking not a day over 21 despite their painful experience within Mephisto's realm. Honestly, life could be such a clusterfuck sometimes.

"Ughhh, it feels like I just got run over by a Hippogriff..."

"Heh, you were stuck in that hole of a realm for a few decades. Wouldn't expect less."

James's voice was the first to arrive as Lily softly pressed herself upwards, her emerald eyes looking around the room for clarity whilst her mind caught up to her senses. She was oddly silent, though I suppose staying inside of Mephisto's creepy sex dungeon of torture would do that to some...

Yet she was the first to stand, her arms grasping onto one of the nearby dilapidated walls for leverage as she looked around the remnants of her old house. It was certainly in a state of disrepair and I wouldn't be surprised if it would have been condemned and bulldozed if it weren't made a shrine for 'the-boy-who-lived' and their 'sacrifice'. Honestly, wizards and witches were some of the most illogical and stupidly moral people on the entire planet... You have to respect their gumption at least. That same gumption clung to their faces, mingling with the dust of memory and grief. It plumed sardonically around them as they exhaled.

Silence was broken when half a dozen pops rhythmically landed outside of the hollow, many voices both gruff and soft speaking to one another. Footsteps mingled with the silence, their pace constant and confident. Aurors, no doubt, seeing as how the magic pouring out from my ritual would have triggered every trace station around the country.

"H-harry, where is Harry?" Lily spoke desperately, her tone parched and jagged. As a mother, she only thought of her baby boy. James mimicked her tone with his expressions, hope and intense longing smattering themselves along his high-cheekbones and aristocratic features; a hallmark of his Black Lineage.

"Grab on... I'll take you to him. Then we'll figure things out from there." Both nodded and grabbed onto my right and left arm respectively as I called upon the limited magic within my staff to pull me into my Bifrost ability.

'Another day, of not being able to do what I want...'

The rainbow light suffused all three of us as I launched us to Freyavellir where Harry was currently waiting, Sirius and him having taken one of the doors in the transport room of the school.

'From now on, I am just going to focus on games and my women. Fuck the world, I'm tired of this shit. The Justice League and Shield can deal with this shit.'

We were scooped up and flung half way across the world as those boots finally touched the pavement just outside Godric's Hollow, Alastor Moody watching as a red-head, a man who looked like James Potter and a woman recently seen in the Wizengamot, faded away in rainbow sparkles.

And the only word he spoke...

"Codswallop...!"
