Chapter 143 - Compromising - Chapter 17

He turned his back to her once more, as it revealed the poison from the scar had been completely sapped out, yet the skin was still cut pretty clean, though she noticed that the effects of her spell was slowly dissipating, so she'd need to up the level of heals if they wanted to leave anytime soon.

She placed her hands on him once more, softly pressing them against the scar as she closed her eyes and began to chant once more, trying her best to give the most effective heal possible to her scarred partner. Her eyes tensed for a moment, until she settled and the mana flowed seamlessly. Dante hadn't noticed it before, but when she's calm and unbothered, she's very capable. Even noting the fact that her mana reserves are something to be praised, he was sure Iris held a reserve similar to Terra.

"I want to know more about you, and your brother…but let's save that for after we get out of here…deal?"

Iris smiled as she continued healing his scarred back, making sure to press onto the wound as carefully as possible, yet knowing he was going to be okay, made things easier for her.

"Deal."

The flickers from the embers continued as the two completed the healing process. Iris slowly began to place her gloves back onto her hands and Dante went to grab their cloaks which had fully dried, handing her it so she could be fully warmed up once more. She thanked him as they slipped on their clothes quickly and stood as the spell surrounding the two from before began to dissipate and break itself down. Leaving their voices and sounds to the will of the cavern's walls, and whatever is out there.

"Your spells really saved us Iris, I'll have to repay you after this. Dinner's on me, hehe."

"You're always so forward…but, I wouldn't mind…"

Her eyes slowly began to lower as she felt herself tipping over, not realizing just how much mana she'd used up in such a time. Dante quickly caught her and allowed her to lean on him for a moment as she did for him.

"I'm sorry…my mana seems to need some replenishing…if only I had some more energy."

"Don't worry about it. You've done enough for now, let me handle movement for a bit. I'm sure the others are waiting for us somewhere within the dungeon, we got to make it back."

"Yeah…you're right about that…but that monster from before is still lurking within the dungeon…"

"We just have to hope everyone avoids them, and notify the higher ups of what happened. Also, we're not forgetting your bag…"

"My…bag?" She thought back to when she fell, and her last sight of it was that it was stuck on a ledge, though she had no idea if it was before or after the rubble fell within the cavern.
