"No one said it was so easy to cause change just by clapping. No wonder Hashirama did it so much," Shisui muttered as he jumped onto the head of the large water dragon he had created and leaned on it, using chi.
"I still can't manage bending with my mind like Bumi, though. I can already use my whole body as a tool!" Taking advantage of the fact that he was alone, fighting a gigantic creature that wanted to swallow him, Shisui's more childish, joking, and somewhat chaotic side started to come out.
He wanted to have fun, not just fight. With narrowed eyes and a smile on his face, he pointed his finger at a tentacle of the kraken that was falling on him, ready to crush it.
"On land, I must limit myself a lot! But here... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Shisui laughed uncontrollably and flailed his arms, seemingly in disarray. Suddenly, a giant wave surged straight out of the ocean and blocked the attacking limb. With a clench of his fists, the temperature dropped.
The wave froze as it enveloped the tentacle. But instead of letting history repeat itself, Shisui stuck out his tongue and waved it gently to test his ability to bend with his whole body.
The ice then... Was it no longer solid? It was still cold but strangely more malleable. This mitigated the Kraken's attempts to shatter it and release its tentacle.
One of Shisui's ears twitched, and the ice took on a strange, gel-like shape, writhing and splitting apart as it coursed through the tentacle.
Annoyed, the Kraken lashed out with another of its massive appendages. Shisui shook his finger, annoyed that the creature was interrupting his fun. Then he thought of something, and his grin widened even more.
"All right, it has to be fun for both of us. How could I forget that? Come on, show me that you're more than a giant octopus who only knows how to smash things." Shisui's words made the smart Kraken look at him angrily. In an unexpected move, a huge ice pick emerged from the ocean and shot toward the Sage.
"YOU CAN DO WATERBENDING!" Shisui cried excitedly. This meant one crucial thing to him.
He could learn something from this great being that he might be missing about Waterbending. Although he could interact directly with Tu and La in the spirit world and ask them questions, that was very different from finding things out for himself.
Shisui used his eyes to manipulate the dragon under his feet, causing it to rise high enough to evade the Kraken's attack. Then, he decided to attack differently.
"We already tried ice. What if we turn up the temperature?" Shisui made a weightlifting motion with his hands, and the ocean water began to bubble, alerting the Kraken.
"Today, we have a big steamed octopus!" Shisui shouted, remembering that time with Azulon and the others as a child when he prepared steamed fish.
Rather than feeling sad about the loss of his father figure, Shisui allowed these feelings to flow through his chi. With a war cry erupting from his mouth, he caused a huge explosion of steam under the Kraken's body.
'Old man, we had our differences, and you killed my parents. But in the end, I can't blame you. You may complain that I was born a Waterbender, but I can cause burns, too.' Shisui dedicated those thoughts to Azulon as he admired the chaos he had generated, placing his hands on his waist proudly.
What Shisui had done could only be described as unleashing a large-scale geyser right under the Kraken's body using hot water and steam, thus causing a huge explosion.
The Kraken's scream was music to the Sage's ears. He shook his black hair with one hand in a nonchalant gesture, though his narrowed eyes showed his seriousness. He had hardly done any damage to the monster.
The Kraken was unharmed except for some marks on his skin that seemed to indicate burn damage, and he was very angry with the Sage. Suddenly, a large iceberg shot out of the sea and fragmented in the air into spikes larger than Shisui's body.
"Looks like you got angry. Well, let me show you something interesting." Shisui manipulated the dragon he was riding and sent it flying into the rain of attacks.
With his hands outstretched, the Sage's spiritual energy collided with the beast's. He abruptly took control of his ice creations. With a twist of his arms, he sent them into the Kraken's body.
"For a normal waterbender to access its full power, it needs to be under a full moon. Do you know that? I suppose so, but to your misfortune..." The Shisui dragon began to freeze completely and grow in size as the ocean water integrated itself more and more into its body.
"I'm not a normal waterbender. I'm always at my maximum peak." Shisui's construct was now a huge, highly detailed oriental dragon that wrapped itself around the beast's body and dug its fangs into its flesh.
Shisui? He had jumped before this happened, creating small platforms of ice beneath his feet that allowed him to run through the air. This allowed him to avoid being attacked by the massive tentacles. His eyes drifted to the blood that spilled into the sea when he severed that appendage.
"Others need the full moon. I... I can interfere with your life directly, though I don't like to use this ability." Shisui dropped down, but his eyes and hands pointed to a kraken tentacle below him.
"I'll teach you something better than bloodbending. Life-bending."
Shisui's golden eyes glowed, and more specks of chi, the form in which he always manifested this energy, emerged from his body.
His spiritual energy clashed with the Kraken's again, but this time it was a direct battle. Skillfully, the Sage wrested control of the creature's tentacle and manipulated it, causing the Kraken to halt its fall.
"I usually use this to remove the acne Azula gets during her period, though it looks like I won't have to do that for nine months anymore," Shisui joked before moving his hands and causing the tentacle's skin to break and blood to flow down its body.
The creature screamed in pain, but its body was constricted by an ice dragon that constantly writhed and regenerated despite the damage. When it tried to attack Shisui with its other tentacles, waves surged straight out of the ocean, trapping or pushing away its limbs as if they were merely a nuisance.
Shisui looked up, sensing an unnatural buildup of clouds in the atmosphere. Dense black clouds covered the sky. Instead of rain, however, thunder began to rumble, which made Shisui raise his eyes with interest.
"You know the ocean water can't hurt me. Your body can be overpowered by me. So you're letting nature take care of me? Now that's fun. I never thought of provoking thunderstorms!" Shisui spread his arms wide, oblivious to the lightning that had begun to strike nearby.
"A new idea from Waterbending... the elements are not separate. It's their separation an illusion." The strong wind brought by the storm blew his black hair.
For others, the humidity would have made them shiver and complain of discomfort, but a warm vapor surrounded the Sage, protecting him from it all.
"I'm your humidifier." Shisui was excited at this point, even though he had to jump off the tentacle he was on just before lightning struck its previous location.
The black clouds began to spin, creating a water tornado that fell toward him. He would explore the influence of water on wind and lightning later; now, he had to take care of the incoming attack.
"Let's see if the sky disaster can handle the sea disaster." When Shisui fell into the water, he created a circular ice platform with Chi and stuck his feet to it. Then, he clapped his hands.
"Let me show you how powerful I am!" The specks of chi around Shisui's body increased so much that he looked like a whirlwind of bright lights rising in a pillar into the sky. A pulse of energy spread throughout the world.
This was less powerful than the Avatar because no one could be more powerful than the Avatar. However, all spiritually sensitive beings felt the power unleashed by the Sage and Enlightened One of the new generation.
Not only did the earthly world feel Shisui's colossal spiritual energy, but even the spirit world's spirits were curious as to why a human could be so noticeable.
The storm, turned into a gigantic drill of clouds, water, winds, and lightning, came down hard on Shisui. Even the air pressure seemed to change with such a gigantic attack.
However, the waters below the ice shelf created by Shisui were unusually calm and still. A large expanse of the sea had become a mirror.
Shisui took a breath...
"Chaos Water!" Suddenly, the ocean receded, dragging the platform with it as it stored more force.
Soon, its height changed as it stood on top of an ever-growing tsunami whose mere existence overshadowed everything. The tornado caused by the Kraken and the creature's great size seemed like mere small appendages of this enormous wave.
Shisui was barely a speck in the distance, but he didn't care. Despite his physical and mental exhaustion, he laughed all the way through. This tsunami had drained him completely; after all, he was just human.
He was not the sum of the chi of all his reincarnations for almost ten thousand years, nor did he have the supernatural power of an ancestral spirit that maintained balance like Aang. At least Shisui was well aware of his limits.
'But I can grow stronger, slowly but surely,' he thought happily.
The Kraken was not happy. He tried waterbending in the wave and tried to steal control of it from Shisui, but he was unsuccessful. He couldn't dive either. The water itself seemed to reject him—all under the Sage's design.
The wave began to turn on itself, slowly increasing its speed. Shisui remained at the top, admiring his creation, beads of sweat on his forehead. But...
"Spinning things is fun and gives them power," he justified aloud, though he knew no one but the curious spirits around him were listening.
The huge whirlpool of seawater froze and erected a twisted pillar that rose high into the sky. Shisui squinted, controlling a water lens that allowed him to see farther and notice the curvature of the world more easily.
"What a nice view," he said after deactivating his gift. Seeing such a scene, he breathed in the sparse air at the top of it all before looking down at his frozen creation.
"Does it look like it died? Good. Now I will be able to taste the flesh of such a large being. Sokka made me envious because he could eat giant eel meat." Shisui touched his stomach, feeling a deep sense of hunger.
Shisui didn't reach his physical limit through hand-to-hand combat, but rather through chi performance. This caused him to digest his lunch, as well as some reserve nutrients, something that he had to replenish.
"I should go downstairs. Maybe Azula is worried about me. You shouldn't make a pregnant woman worry." After saying this, Shisui jumped from the ice platform he had created. During his fall, the monument of his maximum power melted, causing absolute chaos, as the technique's name indicated.
The Kraken's battered body floated in the sea, its tentacles scattered all over the surrounding ocean. Its eyes had burst, its head had been crushed, and its blood was mixed with ink.
Shisui descended gently into the water, supported by a gel tentacle that helped him slow down. When he finally splashed down, he looked at what he had done and felt it was very good.
"I want to eat steamed kraken already!"
