Chapter 9 - 9- Bodyguard

After a week of school and study, it was finally the weekend. Selena rested on her big sofa. She still couldn't get used to the grandeur of her penthouse. Growing up in a poor family, she wished her sister could also experience this. It was peaceful not to worry about earning money. Her phone rang. As usual, her mom would call her in the morning.

"Hi, sweetie! How are you doing?"

"I'm fine. How about you and Dad?" she asked.

"No need to worry about us. I called you because we assigned you a new bodyguard. The old one had an emergency at home, so he won't be returning for a while. He will arrive in an hour," her mom said.

Finally, another main character appeared in the storyline. She needed his help with her plans. When Daniel was still a child, the villainess's parents saved him from loan sharks. Her parents sponsored him, providing him with everything he needed. Years later, he returned as an elite bodyguard, swearing to protect the Gray family. In the novel, even though he knew the villainess was evil, he still protected her and stayed loyal to the family. Daniel eventually died in Lucian's hands. It was scary how most of the characters of the novel were killed by the male lead.

An hour later, the doorbell rang announcing the arrival of her new bodyguard.

The man looked like he had just come back from the army with his dark short hair. His light blue eyes carried a soothing and serious look.

"Good morning, Ms. Selena, I'm your new bodyguard, Daniel," he introduced himself while bowing.

"Nice to meet you. The butler will be here soon," she replied and let him enter.

He was taller than her and had a strong body. She wondered who would win if they fought against each other. He will surely be an excellent helper.

The butler arrived minutes later and showed him around the penthouse and introduced him to everything he needed to know.

After thinking about her future plans all weekend, Selena decided to start her own business to earn money. Since she was already accustomed to the bodyguard profession, she would create a bodyguard company with her pocket money.

During dinner time, while Daniel was standing next to her, she ordered him to look into some empty office buildings near the school. He wasn't simply a bodyguard, he was also competent in other areas. He would be the perfect secretary if she were to have her own business.

It was finally Monday. During the class break, Selena lay on her desk and thought about her business area. Suddenly, an annoying voice resonated in the classroom.

"What's this disgusting stench?" a girl asked while her friends giggled. They were all looking at Grace, who was busy studying.

The girl who mocked her approached her desk and put her hands on her books.

"Did you hear what I said?" the bully yelled and flipped her books on the floor.

Grace calmly picked up her books and apologized. The bully fumed. She confessed to her crush this morning, but he only had eyes for Grace. She's had enough of her face.

The girl pushed Grace violently to the ground and stepped on her torso, dirtying her white uniform. Struggling in pain, Grace watched the entire class's reaction. The bully's friends were laughing along, while the other students looked away, not wanting trouble.

"You should buy a new uniform. You are disgusting everyone with your smell." The bully pinched her nose in disgust and returned to her seat after releasing her anger.

Selena's eyes turned ice cold. How dare they bully her sister right in front of her? They just had to pick a time when Yuki, Lucian, and Grace's best friend weren't in class.

Grace ran to the restroom to clean the shoe print on her uniform while expressing her tears.

'It's alright, Grace. This is nothing,' Grace thought, calming herself down.

The bully laughed as they saw Grace running out of the classroom.

"That vixen should stop seducing the boys. I heard that Lucian is all over her, too," a friend of the bully said.

"Let's not talk about her anymore," the bully said. "My mom got me a new uniform. The one I have right now is too old," she added.

"But you only wore this one for a year."

"Ugh. I don't feel good after touching that vixen, might as well change into my new clothes after dinner."

Selena looked at the system window with the mission to bully the female lead at least once a week. It was the perfect opportunity to complete this week's mission. She snickered and approached the gang who had just bullied Grace.

"Hey, my uniform just got dirtied, do you have a spare change?" she asked coldly.

Hearing that cold voice, the girls retreated by instinct. Thinking that Selena might have heard their conversation, the bully replied nervously, "Of course, it's in my closet in the back. I'll get it for you."

Snatching the brand-new uniform still in a plastic bag, she headed for the girls' bathroom. After she left, the bullies let out a sigh of relief. There was a strict, unspoken rule among the students not to get on Grace's bad side, or else you could be expelled. At the very beginning of the semester, one of Selena's close friends left school just because she didn't listen to Selena's orders. They were all scared that one day if they get Selena in a bad mood, they'll be kicked out of school. It would be humiliating to be expelled from the most prestigious high school in the country.

"We shouldn't have mentioned Lucian in our conversation. You know how sensitive she is about him," one of the bully's friends said.

The others all nodded in unison and prayed that Selena would forget about what had happened.

Small sniffles echoed in the bathroom. Grace washed away the footprint, but her uniform was still wet. She didn't want to miss the next class, but it would take time for her uniform to dry even if she used the dryer.

Selena gently knocked on the bathroom door and said, "It's me."

Hearing an unexpected voice, Grace opened the door slightly. Selena pushed the door open, making Grace stumble and threw the new uniform on Grace.

She sighed impatiently and explained, "I don't want my tutor to wear such poor clothes. It would be annoying if word got around that you are teaching me."

Grace flinched as she saw those cold, golden eyes. Weren't golden eyes supposed to be warm? She murmured a thank you as Selena walked out of the washroom.

Seeing that the uniform was still in a plastic wrapper, meaning that it was new, Grace smiled.

'Seems like Selena isn't as bad as I think,' Grace thought. Maybe she just had a different way of expressing herself.

Outside the restroom, Selena danced happily in her mind as she saw the accomplished mission. She thought that the system wouldn't count that as bullying, but as long as she hurt Grace physically and verbally, it didn't matter.
