Splash!
"The father's bone!" Barty Crouch Jr. hissed, still disguised as Alastor Moody. "Unwillingly given."
Splash!
"Flesh of the servant! Sacrificed willingly—Aaaargh!"
Splash!
"And finally, the blood of the enemy." Barty licked his lips, the effects of the potions waning. He looked at Harry, caught in place. "Forcibly taken… So the Dark Lord shall rise mighty! Once again!"
Shhhh~
Instantly, the entire cauldron caught fire. In pure bliss, Barty stepped back but kept staring at it.
"Grrrrr~"
The entire cauldron transformed, or perhaps vanished. The potion inside magically turned viscous and soon, a demonic, inhumanly human body hovered in the spot, writhing, growling like a beast.
Dark mist rose around its demonic body. And it didn't take long for the inhumanly tall creature to take full shape and the dark mist to turn into a loose, black robe around its lanky form. Pale skin, a chalk-white, skull-like face, snake-like slits for nostrils, red eyes and cat-like slits for pupils, a skeletal thin body, and long, thin hands with unnaturally long fingers.
"Hah…" The Dark Lord mused with a chuckle, checking his own body. "Hand me the wand, Barty."
And then, the Dark Lord summoned all the Death Eaters. The dark clouds in the sky took the shape of a massive skull with a snake passing through. An ominous sign for any eye.
Wooosh!
Wooosh!
The Death Eaters started appearing in their half masks and pointy hat robes. The Dark Lord seethed at them, angered by their quick acceptance of his demise.
"Not one of you tried to find me! Crabbe! Macnair! Goyle! Not even you… Lucius!"
Quickly, Lucius fell to his knees and professed his undying loyalty, even going as far as removing his entire hood, revealing his full face and long hair.
"...I have been obliged to present each day since your… absence… That is my true mask."
Boom!
Thunder struck in the sky out of nowhere. But everyone ignored it, a mere natural phenomenon. Voldemort ignored Lucius and recreated Barty's severed hand.
Boom!
But the thunder struck again, and this time, instead of rain, the clouds unnaturally started to spread apart, clearing the sky for the sunset light to pass through and cover the ominous graveyard.
Boom!
Finally, Voldemort and all the Death Eaters stared up at the phenomenon.
FLASH!
And then, a smaller flash came.
FLASH!
And many more.
And faster than the flash itself, countless figures appeared, tall, flying in the air as if walking. Covered in dark leather trench coats, white masks on their faces with no expressions. They all spread around in a massive circle, covering the entire graveyard.
FLASH!
Finally, Voldemort and the Death Eaters realized what those smaller flashes were. They were cameras.
Voldemort's evil eyes instantly noticed the subtle difference in the mask of one man and knew who the leader was. But still, there were fifty figures flying. He moved rationally, the very thing that had kept him alive till now.
"Who are you? You do not strike me as the Ministry's puppet."
But in response to Voldemort, the supposed leader raised his arms wide to the side. Right away, the fifty figures surrounding the sky took out their wands and swung them toward the edges of the graveyard.
Shhhhh~
A colossal, fifty-foot-high wall of fire arose from the ground, forming a large circle, enclosing Voldemort and his few Death Eaters.
Voldemort frowned lightly but didn't shake in fear. There wasn't much he feared. "Your actions are unprovoked, whoever you are."
"SILENCE! Filthy subhuman!"
Voldemort almost recoiled in his steps. The voice that came from the sky was too loud, making his ears rattle. It was heavy, full of pride and confidence, something he considered to possess the most. And the way he was addressed, it enraged him.
"We have not come for you, Voldemort. We don't care what games you play in your little playground—We have come for that slithering snake behind you."
Voldemort looked behind him and found Lucius. Confused, he looked back at the sky. "Lucius? You want him?"
"We shall take him—The question is, are you going to fall to save a traitor? Or will you stand aside? To make us an enemy or not—it's up to you."
"Us?" Voldemort's heart shivered a little. "How many are you?"
Snap!
The leading man snapped his fingers and out of nowhere, fifty more people dressed in dark coats and masks appeared, covering the sky.
"And many more, Voldemort."
####
"And many more, Voldemort."
Dudley watched from the sky, holding himself with as much imposing bravado as possible. He put his hands behind his back in a relaxed and confident manner, showing that the entire field was fully under his command.
The round wall of fire burned continuously, trapping everyone there. All the anti-apparition means had been deployed. There was no escaping.
Damn it!
He noticed Cedric's dead body in the distance. He'd already warned Cedric indirectly on how to avoid a killing curse. But it seemed the change of Peter with Barty was lethal. Instead of a killing curse, Cedric's body was sliced, obliterated, skin sliced up with wounds.
I tried… I couldn't do more, sorry.
Dudley looked back at Voldemort, who was now interrogating his favored subordinate, Lucius.
"What have you done, Lucius? Who are they?"
"I-I don't know, my Lord. I have never seen them before."
Voldemort looked back at the sky. "Who are you?"
Dudley scoffed behind his mask and gave the command. "Ready! If he asks one more question—kill them all! All but Lucius!"
Snap!
Woosh!
A hundred wands aimed directly at the ten or so Death Eaters and Voldemort. Each of them had ten wands directed at them. The numbers were overwhelming for them to deal with.
What are you thinking, Voldemort? Give him up… You can't fight a hundred of us.
Dudley waited patiently. Voldemort right now wasn't insane, he hoped. To save Lucius, making him an enemy who had more than a hundred wizards in command was foolish. Especially now when he didn't have any solid base.
Ugh, Lily will be here any moment now.
"Aim!" Dudley ordered, even his calm words reverberated.
At last, Voldemort looked behind at Lucius, a little disappointed, a little intrigued. Then, the tall, newly reborn Dark Lord stepped aside completely. "Ah... so the boy Potter is to me what Lucius is to you. I shall not hinder your vendetta, whoever you may be."
Dudley half agreed and half ignored Voldemort.
"Take him!"
At Dudley's command, twenty Vanguards flew down to the surface, wands drawn out. While fifteen Vanguards gave cover, five quickly shot a disarming spell on Lucius, followed by a Stupefy. Of course, Lucius tried to disapparate, or run, but it was useless.
Then, the five Vanguards threw a large, black sheet of cloth over Lucius' unconscious body.
Woosh!
The sheet of cloth and Lucius, both vanished with a snap.
Moments later, the twenty Vanguards returned to the sky, regrouping. As soon as everyone was back in position, the massive wall of fire was dismissed, and the dark clouds in the sky returned, bringing back the air of chaos and evil to the graveyard.
"HARRY!"
Lily flashed right into the graveyard alongside ten others. It was mostly Sirius, Remus, and a few other Order members and their friends.
"Evans!" Voldemort seethed at the sight of her. He'd learned that she was alive and it was humiliating. The woman and her son were credited with his defeat. But he considered that a lie. "Die!"
But before Voldemort could flick his wand towards Lily, who'd run to Harry, the ten others started hurling spells. Voldemort was forced to defend himself and step back.
"I WILL KILL YOU ALL!"
Voldemort roared, but that was all he could do there. With Lily and her allies, and a hundred unknown wizards in the sky, he didn't want to start a battle there.
Snap!
So, Voldemort apparated away, and the Death Eaters followed.
Dudley watched the graveyard usher in a slow silence. He'd willingly allowed Voldemort to run away. Now was not the time to go after him.
With nobody to fight, Sirius and Remus looked toward the sky helplessly.
Dudley ignored them and watched Lily bring Harry down from the confining statue. After a quick hug, Harry ran to Cedric, crying.
Better head back now.
"Dismissed!"
Dudley sent the Vanguards away and used the Portkey to appear back beside the Forbidden Forest at the school. He quickly changed clothes with a flick of his wand and ran back to the tournament venue.
"What did I miss?" He climbed the stands where Susan and Hannah were sitting with bored expressions. As expected, there was nothing to do once the champions entered the maze. It was like the second task.
Susan shrugged and made some space so her unofficial boyfriend could sit between her and Hannah. "Not a thing, really. Honestly, I might've snoozed once or twice."
"It's boring." Hannah leaned against his shoulder on the side, her hand caressing his leg. "How are you feeling now?"
"Hard," he replied shamelessly, wrapping one arm around Hannah's back and the other Susan's. "Let's have some fun later."
Susan giggled and shamelessly placed her hand on his loins. Since others were sitting in front, nobody could see what she was doing. "I prefer that over this any time of the day."
Thud!
Pa-Papapa-pa!
All of a sudden, the band started to play music. Dudley stopped chatting with his girls and looked at the open area where Harry had appeared with Cedric's dead body, behind him were Lily, Sirius, Remus, and a few others.
