Cherreads

Chapter 19 - The duel many years ago.

Just like in the days where a fight competition happens between two Masters from different sects or academy.

A brief explanation.

It was the most secluded province in the world, far far away from the eyes of even the high and mighty. This province, originally known as the Ningji province.

It's location was at the outmost part of the earth. It was also called the 'SKY' province, because people believed that those living there could see either the immortals duelling, or can stretch their hands touch the clouds. And that was because of how high the mountain was.

Inside the province, resides the prestigious academy, the 'LangShou" academy. The best of the best.

The academy known for the perfect cherry blossom trees, the lilac plants and most importantly, the chrysanthemum.

The place was always lively. It looked like Christmas has always come early for them.

The LangShou academy are the perfect example of 'training makes perfect'. Also known as academy without golden/spiritual cores. And they are the spirit animals themselves. And, that made them the peculiar academy. Despite all that, they were the most powerful of all.

Not going for meetings when the other academies has once invited them,, which they humbly declined. Their lives solely dedicated to saving lives. Helping and giving to people with whatever they can was their priority. A total disdain for material things and materialistic people. They only hear from the rumors that most talkertives leaders of the smaller academy that happened to spend time in their province, that they got to hear from whatever they discussed which, ironically, they weren't interested.

Many years ago, most of the prominent masters of this later generation were still, training under many people. They still called people 'masters'.

On a very calm weather, a perfect duel, between two academy,

The Xiangmei province; the Wangshou academy, the top disciple, Liu Wang Liu.

And the Ningji province; the LangShou academy, top disciple Bing He Peng.

Both were seventeen at that time, when they first dueled. It was the most unquenchable fight the elders has had for ages, the fight lasted for many days without a winner. Until the third day, which marked their last. Bing He Peng won the duel.

Though it was an outstanding fight that got the elders more and more interested. The fight was the toughest. None could believe two brave teenagers wouldn't back off. Even as Bing He Peng won, many praised Liu Wang Liu, for being persistent till the end.

Thirteen years later, Liu Wang Liu, now being the dean of the Wangshou academy declares another duel with the dean of the LangShou academy, being Bing He Peng.

For months, Bing He Peng has refused for another combat, but Liu Wang Liu has insisted that they should, else, she would declare them weak. It would be an insult to them. But He Peng was only rejecting because of his already weakened state. But seeing the threats Dean Liu has posed for them, he decided to agree.

"He Peng, you know she's just trying to redeem herself. She can't bear losing to you. Don't listen to her." His brother, Wu Lang spoke.

"Brother, I know. But how can I seat and watch her insult us. It doesn't matter losing to her, what matters is what happens after." He Peng said one morning.

His brother wanting to have serious meetings with him regarding the problems the humans faced, down the mountain came in, only to find his brother on his ever calligraphy writing. He has made out the middle line of the letter which clearly states "The same venue at three"

He queried and pried out the meaning of the letter.

"But what about you? You almost lost your life back then. You can't fight her without you turning into a dragon. And you know what it meant?" It wasn't actually a question, but an actual fact.

He Peng closed his eyes and took the deepest breathe. Before opening them again.

"If anything happens to me, I hope you take good care of the academy as the Dean."

"He Peng!!!" Wu Lang was angry.

"Brother what would you do, if you were in my place?"

"I left you the position of being the leader because I know you can handle it. Now that I'm enjoying my life as a free bird, you want to cage me again?" His voice sounded hurt, mixed with an unspoken something else. Unshed years, refusing to come out.

And there they were duelling again.

Dean Liu added all her strength in winning this time. But fate has already decided.

"Dean Liu, I think you should stop. You already lost twice, would you like to continue?" Bing He Peng asked

This was their fourth fight, and Dean Liu lost shamefully. The last word from her competitor was more agonizing than the defeat. "Letting new generations duel is quite advisable. You're getting old. Hope this would be the last time you call me out for this irrelevant reason."

That ended. Dean Liu was defeated more than thrice.

But Bing He Peng died shortly after arriving the gate of his LangShou academy out of Qi deviation.

*********

"Your majestic, your father has arrived." Liao Feng Dao announced

Hua Wudi didn't look up. Nor was he surprised. Infact, he was scared. His father rarely come home. But when he does, it'd be for the three most disturbing tasks of all time depending on his mood, that Wudi had often wondered where those thoughts come from.

"Was he asking for me?"

"No, but... I think he wants to see you." She replied.

"Ridiculous! He wants me to come like I always do. But I'm not s kid anymore." He spoke more to himself than to her.

"You tell me, Feng Dao. What should I do?" Asked Hua Wudi.

She has to be careful. Of course she knew she had to be careful, for she knows she doesn't want to be burned by the flame that comes out of that mouth of his.

"Go to the city. You've always done that, when you're stressed. I know it'll do you good."

Hand on his chin as if in deep thought. As if he was contemplating whether it was the right thing to do.

"Anything else, other than going to the city?"

Do you want to use me as wood? What a man. I will live and seduce you all day long with you by my side.

"That look of yours sounds like you want to have me under the sheet and afraid I would burn you to ashes, right?"

When he had said that, he noticed how her breathe hitched. With a mischievous grin, "I was right? Hah!! Can you at least be more unpredictable? You're getting less interesting by the day." He teased.

"How about music? Or dancing. I heard they said it works." She suggested.

"You want me to hook up? What's going on in that mind of yours?" He asked scoffing.

"I'm out of choices. Would you like to decide yourself?" She asked.

After a brief thinking, a smile plastered on his face.

Wudi: "How about we go on a mission? Explore the world a little and create more chaos everywhere we go, huh?"

She nodded vigorously to the point Wudi was scared her head might snap out of her body.

Missions are great. It's been so long she had stepped out to see the sun, feel the breeze that is ever gentle, no matter how humans say it was rough.
