Mike shouted onto the mic, his face red from excitement.
Garchoke: Wtf! I just sat down and Norman already lost?!
Cunthia: I call hax!
NormanistheGOAT: Impossible!
Pokepokemon: Wasn't it still Teddiursa a month ago? How the hell did it grow strong this quickly?!"
WifeofDante: It's because it was raised by my husband! Go darling! Crush that old guy!
Eeveelog: Chill. It's only the first round. Norman can easily stage a comeback.
"Right-o! And look! Norman took back Kangaskhan and sent out Porygon-Z!"

On the battlefield, Norman studied the teenager across from him, a boy who was even a year younger than his daughter.
"You've trained Ursaring well. To be able to dodge that attack…"
Norman shook his head. Among his current Pokemon, probably only Slaking could achieve such a feat. And that was because he is familiar with Kangaskhan's attack patterns.
"Thanks. We've trained hard."
Dante smiled and calmly accepted Norman's praise.
Although the main reason Ursaring could evade is the increase in Speed from Quick Feet, another factor is the battle awareness he gained while fighting in the dungeon.
When one can get hit by an attack at any moment, being constantly aware of the surroundings is just part of the basics.
"I hope you don't get complacent. This match has only begun."
Norman's eyes suddenly seemed to be lit up with fire.
At that moment, the referee finally signaled the start of the match.
"Porygon-Z, use Agility!"
"Ursaring, get close and use Brick Break!"
Porygon-Z is a Pokemon with a high special attack of 118 and a decent speed of 90. By using Agility instead of directly attacking, it revealed Norman's plan to defeat Ursaring while trying to prevent Porygon-Z from suffering damage.
"Heh, you're being underestimated, Ursaring. Show him what you've got!"
"Ursa!"
Ursaring roared, his speed once again rising to another level. In just a moment, he arrived in front of the red-blue Pokemon who looked as if they were made from balloons.
"What!? Porygon-Z, Conversion!"
Norman's eyes widened and he quickly issued a command. This Ursaring's speed is abnormal!
Porygon's body shone purple just as Ursaring's paws, coated in red fighting-type energy, chopped downwards. Then, Ursaring's face contorted in shock.
When he hit Porygon-Z, he didn't feel anything. Instead, his paws just passed right through!
"Now! Ice Beam!"
"Don't get distracted, Ursaring! Use Shadow Claw!"
The two commands simultaneously rang out.
Porygon-Z, who had been prepared, condensed Ice-type energy in front of its mouth even before Norman finished his words.
Meanwhile, because Ursaring was caught off-guard, it took him a moment to recover.
Although he quickly gathered Ghost-type energy on his claws, he missed the opportunity to attack Porygon-Z as right at this moment, the balloon-like Pokemon unleashed its move.
Seeing the Ice Beam headed straight for him, Ursaring frowned and slashed down, splitting the attack in half and causing it to pass through his left and right side. However, it gave Porygon-Z the opportunity to distance itself.
"…Ursa." (…I'm sorry, Dad.)
"It's fine. You're doing a great job."
Dante smiled in reassurance. With the use of Gummi Drinks, Ursaring has been able to catch up and surpass Pokemon who've trained for years, even decades, in terms of stats. However, it can't be denied that he lacked battle experience.
After all, it hasn't been a month since Ursaring left the infancy stage.
"How did you know Porygon-Z would change into a Ghost-type?"
Norman asked, a trace of curiosity in his voice.
"Just a lucky guess."
Dante smirked. He looked at Porygon-Z in the arena, his eyes slightly flickering.
Porygon-Z, and all the Porygon-line, are Pokemon that are strictly gatekept by the Alliance due to their hacking capabilities. Still, that doesn't stop most Trainers from trying to obtain said Pokemon due to how powerful they are.
The Porygon-line is the only Pokemon with access to the move Conversion- a move that allows the user to change their typing into anything provided they know a similar move-type.
Then, after evolving into Porygon-Z, they gain access to the Adaptability Ability which powers up moves of the same type as the user.
Porygon-Z suddenly turns into a type immune or resistant to the opponent's move and swiftly counter attacks- this combination is often seen in high level Pokemon battles.
However, with Dante's Copycat vision, he could easily determine what type Porygon will transform into. So the next thing he had to do was simple.
"Ursaring, get close again!"
"Porygon-Z, use Icy Wind!"
Facing the chilly air in front, Ursaring used Rock Tomb to create a shield, charging forward with it while shielding his body. No matter what other move Porygon-Z used, this rock alone blocked all of them.
Then, when he reached a close position, he hurled the large pieces of rock to force Porygon-Z to dodge.
Norman frowned as he watched Ursaring arrive in front of his Pokemon. Just like before, Porygon-Z converted into Ghost-type after seeing the Fighting-type energy on the brown bear Pokemon's paw. But the experienced Gym-leader knew that wasn't going to work a second time.
"It seems I'll leave the rest of the battle to you, partner."
Norman muttered while caressing a Pokeball on his waist. Then, taking a deep breath, he commanded.
"Porygon-Z, Endure!"
"Now Ursaring!"
Right after Ursaring's paws passed through, he didn't waste a moment and used Shadow Claws with his other hand.
Porygon-Z was unable to distance itself this time. It could only grit its teeth and form a red barrier close to its body, to lessen the impact of Ursaring's attack.
Like Protect, Endure is a move which almost guarantees blocking a single move. However, instead of using all the energy in the body to block the attack, it only used the bare minimum, allowing the body to tank the rest of the attack.
This way, unlike Protect, it could save more energy and avoid having any moment of weakness.
"Pory!"
Porygon-Z cried out. The barrier disappeared and his body crashed like a meteorite, creating a long trench from the middle of the arena extending all the way until Norman's feet.
"Porygon-Z, get up and use Hyper Beam!"
Norman ruthlessly commanded. Ursaring is still recovering from consecutively using two different types of moves. This is the perfect time to launch a counter-attack!
Porygon-Z also didn't disappoint. Although its whole body was hurting, it forced itself out of the ground. Then, its body shone with white light, concentrating all its energy to unleash one of the most powerful Normal-type attacks.
"Porygon!"
"Ursaring, Protect!"
A huge beam of energy headed straight towards the still recovering Ursaring. However, right as it was about to hit, a green barrier sprung up around the bear Pokemon's body.
*WHISHH*
A grinding sound echoed. Porygon-Z tried its best to pierce through the screen. However, until it ran out of energy, the barrier stood as sturdy as in the beginning.
"Ursaring, use…! Nevermind."
Dante stopped mid-sentence. In front of Norman, Porygon-Z, after enduring Shadow Claw and using such a powerful move, fell on the ground and fainted.
"Porygon-Z is unable to battle! Trainer Norman, please send out your third Pokemon."
…
"I didn't expect even Teddy had become so strong now."
On the VIP seats, Shinobu had a bittersweet look in her eyes as she stared at Ursaring. As his 'Mom', she was the human who interacted with him the most besides Dante. Therefore, she could clearly see how abnormal his growth rate had been.
"Mawile, are you going to follow in their footsteps soon?"
"Mawile!"
Shinobu laughed and stroked Mawile's head. Apparently, she had a quarrel with Dante in the morning. So to coax her, Dante had promised she would be his next Pokemon.
"How is that possible…"
May finally recovered from the shock of seeing her father's two Pokemon getting knocked down consecutively.
"You'll get used to it. Heh, we have to watch every day as a Pokemon he just trained grow stronger than our Starter."
Candice patted May's back in comfort. On the side, except for Furina and Dawn, the rest of the girls nodded in sympathy.

Dante teased.
Ursaring laughed. Now, he really has to defeat his next opponent- if only to gain the right to say to Big Brother Pikachu and Azumarill that he had surpassed them.
