Chapter 1 - Well…. I guess this means no normal life?

Author's note: here we go again. Just trying to have fun. Don't put a lot of stock into this. Just gonna see where it goes.

FYI, characters ages will be moved to meet my needs.

128 AC

My eyes opened taking in my surroundings. What I'd assumed to be the afterlife was not. In fact, it was a new one. I felt that when the wind caressed my face. When my ears heard the gentle to a fro of the waves upon the shoreline. And lastly, I could taste the salt and smoke in the air. Both acidic and hard to breathe in.

Getting into an upright position I begin to look at my surroundings. All around me is smoke so thick you could cut it with a knife.

I look down at my lap. Atop it is a sword. It's beautifully crafted. Looking like Damascus steel.

I decide I need to get moving. Slowly making my way to my feet I grab the sword and am amazed by how light it is relative to its size. From what I remember, swords aren't light at all.

I take about 10 steps and almost fall off a cliff. Before me is an equally Smokey sea. I sigh. So much damn smoke.

Turning the other way I walk inland as it's my only option. After a few minutes of walking I find a stream. Granted the water is clearly contaminated with what I assume to be ash. However, it does allow me to get a look at my reflection.

What stares back at me instantly raises my heckles.

Short Bone white hair that seems to shimmer in the sunlight, diminished as it may be in my Smokey surroundings.

While white hair isn't normal it isn't uncommon. Some people go grey in their 20s. No, what startled me is the very clearly unnatural eye color. A deep, vivid amethyst.

'Well, no more staying in the background. I know of only one people who have these features mixed with the Damascus steel looking sword. Valyrians.'

I instantly become dizzy at what such things actually mean. War, death, and betrayal are the first words to pop into my head followed by: dragons, wolves, and lions.

If my assumptions are correct then I'm beyond screwed. Thinking back over my knowledge of the world imagined by GRRM, a sea like this was described when speaking of the ruins of Valyria and the water that surrounds it.

"Great, so I look like a Valyrian colored Tom Welling, and I'm in the most inhospitable place in the known world, the ruins of Valyria after the doom. Even if I wanted to get off this hellscape, I can't. What ship will just so happen to be braving the smoking sea to rescue me?'

I'm broken from my despair by a sound I've never heard before. An etheral trill/shriek. I snap my head around back toward the area I knew the cliff to be and see a bone chilling sight. A shadow moves among the clouds, a huge shadow.

I'd know that Silhouette anywhere, especially in the world of ice and fire. A dragon.

Dragon stone 128 AC

Amid the bustle of the island stronghold of house Targaryen, where servants went to and fro in their different duties like ants, men at arms crossed blades in the courtyard trying to hone their skill to a razors edge, and the future queen and her family went about their daily lives.

Something broke this seemingly peaceful atmosphere was broken by the most dangerous and infamous dragon on the shores of westeros. The cannibal.

For years he'd lain dormant after his latest feeding frenzy. Some of which included dragon eggs. However, what many didn't know was that the dragon ate mostly whales and at night.

Said dragon took off towards the east, as if commanded to do so

_____

Said dragon now landed on the small island amid the western most part of Valyria, separate from the mainland and the fourteen flames. Though that didn't mean this island didn't see destruction.

The green eyed beast looked to the human who'd fallen away in freight with a penetrating gaze before taking a big breathe in and releasing it through its nose, creating even more smoke in the already Smokey surrounding.

Slowly the beast walked toward the one he'd come to find and lowered his head, waiting for his rider to claim what is his.

Okay, giant dragon aside, I recognize this one's colors. Baleful black with bright emerald green eyes with two horns framing his mouth. The cannibal.

The impossibly large animal makes it, his? Way toward me and Lowers his head. I know my new life has come to an end. If anyone knew anything about the wild dragons it's, stay away from cannibal, yet here he is in front of me.

I open my eyes after almost a minute of not feeling flame or teeth and see the large dragon still there, looking at me. Deciding to be bold I reach my right hand up slowly so the dragon can see my movements.

I lay my hand on his snout, which is burning hot by the way, and am rewarded with a cat like purr. I release the tension in my shoulders and breathe a sigh of relief. "Well, can't have you called that awful name if you're with me now can we?" I ask the dragon in the only language I know, English, hoping it understands my intent if not my words.

The growl I received in return gives me all the answers I need. "Well then….Morgoth, let's see if we can get out of here without me falling to my death." I tell the dragon running my hand down his neck toward his wing.

Anytime my hand would've moved off his body due to the terrain, Morgoth would shift to keep my hand attached to him. I reached the wing that'd been lowered for me and eagerly made my way up. I don't know where I'm going. But I know I'm definitely going to draw attention wherever that may be.

"Let's go Morgoth. Take me somewhere we can lay low, even if for a little while."

I don't receive an answer. Only Morgoth taking two steps and diving off the cliff. It was like the craziest roller coaster ride ever.

"Hey! Not attached here buddy," I yell to my new friend as he uses the speed we picked up to glide alone the waters edge before flapping his wings catching an updraft and propelling us into the air.

I find myself laughing. At both the absurdity of my situation and the thrill riding a dragon brings.

'No normal life indeed,' I think as we head away from the hell that is Valyria, onto an entirely different kind of hell, Court.

Just playing around. Trying to see what I want to do.
