[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]
Third Person POV
Kaer Morhen.
...
...
"We have a witcher in our prison..."
The person was in a trance-like state while answering all the questions from the figure in front of them. That figure kept his red eyes fixed, though his victim did not seem to notice, while the only sound in the room was the man's voice answering the questions.
"Tell me how the witcher was captured and who else is there. Describe his appearance." Madara spoke, looking at the man.
Around them, several bodies lay on the ground, all unconscious. He had taken them down effortlessly after infiltrating the city militia's central building, wearing a mask, and now stood before the head of the guard.
"The king issued an order as soon as he learned of a witcher's presence in the region. He demanded that we capture him, and we did, though it was quite forceful. Fifty men against one... and he was only killing some monsters at the time. It was an easy task... I don't know his name..." the guard answered, staring blankly into nothing.
"Now, describe him." Madara demanded once again.
"He was tall and bald... wore the medallion with the Wolf symbol. He refused to say his name. But I know he belonged to that isolated castle a few weeks' journey from here."
Madara nodded. The information was useful. If a witcher from the School of the Wolf was imprisoned, it was probably Coën, as he was the only bald one among them.
"Tell me exactly what the king's plans are for the witchers." Madara asked.
"We don't know for sure... but we believe the king fears the witchers might be involved with those two fugitives. Many have forgotten, but not all... Our king plans to use them to locate them, and then, dispose of them." the man answered.
"So the king is quite arrogant..." Madara murmured.
"I want all the maps of the city and the castle. I know you must have them." he then ordered.
"They're in my safe... half-moon down, left, then a full turn before stopping in the middle again. The rotation is counterclockwise." the guard revealed.
Madara simply nodded and, in a swift movement, struck the man's neck with the lower part of his hand, knocking him out instantly. Then, he went to the place the man had mentioned, opened the safe following the instructions, and began gathering the documents, money, treasures, and, most importantly, the maps he wanted.
Leaving the location, he moved on to his next objective: the city's gangs.
It wasn't hard to locate one of the hideouts the gangsters Dandelion had informed him about. Inside, several men were drinking and playing cards. Madara started taking them down one by one as he advanced through the corridors.
When he reached a large hall, he saw dozens of drunk people scattered everywhere, too occupied with their own conversations. He couldn't act stealthily here.
Without hesitation, Madara walked straight through the front door.
The people quickly noticed him, furrowing their brows at the sight of a strange boy wearing a mask invading their gang's base.
"Hey, kid! Who are you?" one man asked before being struck in the neck. His body collapsed unconscious to the ground.
Everyone else looked on in shock.
"Who the hell do you think you are?!" another man stepped forward, but before he could react, he received a direct kick to the head, flying backward and crashing against a table.
"What the hell is this bastard doing?! Get him!" someone shouted.
Immediately, several men charged at Madara with clubs. He responded with punches and kicks, dodging all their attacks effortlessly, countering each strike with a precise blow. One by one, the enemies fell to the ground, completely unconscious.
Within minutes, Madara had already taken down more than twenty men. The remaining gang members froze in place, utterly shocked by what they had just witnessed.
But Madara's eyes didn't stop there. He swiftly advanced on the rest of the enemies, who had no choice but to try and flee as fast as they could. However, one by one, they were struck down until they collapsed.
The last one standing was the very person Madara needed information from: the gang leader. Cornered, he trembled as he held a dagger in his shaking hands.
The man only watched as the boy's eyes changed color before he froze, falling into the boy's genjutsu without even realizing his state. Madara now needed to extract the information he wanted.
After that, he moved on to another part of the city, taking down yet another gang. Later, he headed to an upscale district near the castle. First, he observed the movement of the guards and their patrol patterns. Then, he began interacting with some of the city's influential men, easily infiltrating their circles, listening to conversations, and gathering valuable information.
When he finished, he returned to the poorer part of the city, where they were staying.
Upon entering, he found Dandelion sleeping on the floor on an improvised mattress. Geralt, on the other hand, stood with his arms crossed, watching through the window before turning to him as soon as he arrived.
"Did you get it?" Geralt asked.
Madara simply nodded.
"We'll talk about it tomorrow." That was all he said before heading to his corner. He could have gone to the prison first, but he wanted to gather all the information about the city beforehand. Now, he had enough knowledge to use when needed in the future.
The next morning, Dandelion woke up groggy. He turned to Geralt and Madara, who were already talking.
"Damn, Coën..." Geralt murmured.
"Yeah, we have to deal with it tonight." Madara said.
"You're going to the palace, then?" Geralt asked.
"Yes." Madara confirmed.
"Are you going to deal with the king?" Dandelion asked, stunned upon hearing their conversation.
"Obviously. After all, he has already declared war on the School of the Wolf, and nothing will stop him. As soon as he finds out that his men have fallen, it will be all-out war." Madara replied.
"But are you planning to reveal yourself like that?" Geralt asked, concerned. He knew this could put Madara in danger, and more importantly, Ciri.
"Unfortunately, I'll have to be quite convincing with him. And trust me, when I want to, I can be someone even a king would consider listening to." Madara said.
"I hope you succeed." Geralt commented at the end.
Dandelion widened his eyes.
"Wait a minute! You're already making a plan? Have you already investigated all the gangs in the city?! You were only out for one night..." He murmured, surprised and shocked at the same time.
"Don't be surprised by that." Geralt said, knowing Madara well enough to understand he was extremely efficient.
"Anyway, I'm going to visit the king, but at the same time, I'll send a clone with you to rescue Coën." Madara said, opening a map while tracing an escape route based on the information he had gathered about the city's guards.
"Can I be useful and help too?" Dandelion asked as he also approached the map.
"If you want your face plastered on every wanted poster in the city, be my guest. But I doubt you'd be able to enter any inn again if you're seen with us." Madara remarked sincerely.
Dandelion sighed before understanding and then made a horrified grimace.
"I think you're right... I'll leave this to those who actually know how to fight." He simply said with a forced smile.
"And what are we doing during the day?" the bard asked, since they would act at midnight.
"You keep singing your songs, but don't draw too much attention." Madara replied.
"And you, Geralt?" the bard asked his friend.
"I'll meditate." Geralt said.
"I also plan to do that. But besides that, I'll continue observing the city."
With that, Geralt stayed in the room while Dandelion went about his activities. The original Madara also remained inside the room while several of his clones exited through the window and moved across the city rooftops.
Taking advantage of the movement, Madara also began accumulating some of the riches he had discovered the previous night, storing them in sealing scrolls. Each of his clones carried a portion of that treasure.
When night fell, and hours after Dandelion returned and went to sleep, Geralt looked out the window before jumping out. The original Madara advanced directly toward the castle, while one of his clones guided Geralt through the city, helping him avoid the guards until they reached the prison through the city streets.
Madara, in turn, moved with extreme speed. Within seconds, he was already near the castle. Since it was the middle of the night, the guards were scattered and did not notice his approach. He entered the castle with ease, moving upside down along the ceiling and passing unnoticed by everyone.
His goal was to reach the king's chamber. Quickly, he found the door guarded by four royal guards. Instead of following the corridor, Madara slipped out the window, advancing silently to the other side and entering the chamber without being noticed.
Meanwhile, Geralt finally arrived at the prison along with Madara's clone. The guards watching the area began to be taken down one by one. In a matter of seconds, Madara appeared behind them, striking with precise blows, slamming their heads against the ground.
"There's no one else in the area. Let's go inside." the clone said, hiding the bodies so that no one would find them.
Meanwhile, in the castle, the king was sleeping peacefully beside the queen, unaware that an intruder was in his chambers.
Suddenly, he felt something strange. A presence. A shadow loomed over him. Dazed, he tried to open his eyes, and as soon as he did, he saw something terrifying. Two glowing red eyes shone in the darkness, piercing into his mind.
Suddenly, the comfort of the bed vanished. The king felt an intense cold, far stronger than what he should have felt in his chambers. When he fully opened his eyes, he realized he was in a completely different place.
He was hanging from the highest tower of the castle, his clothes caught on a precarious ledge. The freezing wind cut against his skin, and he seemed to be on the verge of plummeting.
"What is this?!" he exclaimed, terrified.
Before he could react, he felt a sharp slap crack against his face. Stunned, he raised his hand to the spot that had been struck, feeling an immediate sting.
"Don't scream too loudly. After all, I wouldn't want our conversation to be interrupted by your guards down there." A cold, sinister voice echoed behind him.
The king tried to turn to see who it was, but as soon as he began to move his head, another slap struck his face, even harder.
"Don't look back." The voice ordered, cold and relentless. "Just behave like the idiot king you are and look forward. Otherwise, I will throw you down from here, and I doubt you'll survive the fall."
The voice was young but carried an eerie seriousness. The king felt a shiver run down his spine. He had no idea how he had ended up there, at the top of his own castle, being humiliated and threatened. Fear gripped him.
"W-who are you...?" he murmured, trying to keep his composure.
"Someone who, until now, didn't care about you." Madara replied coldly. "But it seems you made sure to become my enemy. And that's why I'm here... to collect the debt you incurred when you sent those knights to Kaer Morhen."
Madara expected to have a very interesting conversation with the king in the next few minutes.
