The silent scream withered away from her face before it could break free, and her shivering body sagged as if freed from invisible chains.
She blinked with an unsteady breath and slowly pushed herself upright.
Her hands trembled slightly, while her eyes started drifting about the room in quiet confusion as she became lost between fading memory and fragile reality.
Her hazy vision gradually cleared, and the first thing she saw was a pair of soul-piercing crimson eyes gazing at her.
They were strangely vivid as they glowed faintly like embers in the low morning light.
Just meeting that gaze, the chaos roaring within her mind quieted, as if something deep within her had been silenced.
She sat up slowly while still locked into his eyes like a sailor to a guiding star.
"Are you alright, Miss?"
The moment his lips moved and his voice broke through her trance, she blinked rapidly and broke away from that enthralling stare.
