Chloe pouted, crossing her arms. "So what if he won one round? You'd think he already won the whole tournament."

Bella tightly gripped her Poké Ball and threw it forward with determination.
"Wartortle! Let's go!"
"Kamei~!"
A flash of white light revealed an indigo-blue turtle Pokémon. It had a round, bald head with ears resembling small wings on both sides and a tail shaped like a crashing wave.
Wartortle! The evolved form of her Squirtle!
But it was no longer the small, cute turtle from before. Today, Bella's Wartortle stood tall at an impressive 1.2 meters, radiating a powerful presence.
"Oh, Wartortle, huh? Saving Lapras for the end?"
Ryan narrowed his eyes slightly as he studied the Pokémon. Truthfully, even among Pokémon House members, very little was known about Bella's Wartortle.
Ever since it evolved, Bella had rarely used it in battles, mostly relying on Lapras and Milotic.
It made sense not to use Lapras against Ursaring. Fighting-type moves like Arm Hammer would be devastating.

Moves: Aqua Tail, Rain Dance, Protect, Water Pulse, Bite, Rapid Spin, Water Spout...

Sean took out his Pokédex to check Wartortle's move set.

Ursaring raised its glowing fist and charged toward Wartortle.
"Wartortle! Water Spout—NOW!" Bella shouted.
"Kamei~!!"
Wartortle leaned back, puffing up its cheeks, and then—
Under the stunned gazes of everyone—
A massive, towering jet of water erupted from its mouth, crashing toward Ursaring like a tidal wave.
Complete Shock
"...."
Ryan was stunned. From his perspective, that tidal wave was at least ten meters tall!
Even more outrageous than Surf!
Ursaring's eyes widened. But even as the overwhelming tide bore down on it, Ursaring let out a ferocious roar and swung its Arm Hammer directly at the wave.
Fist met water in a violent clash—
BOOM!
Ursaring gritted its teeth, struggling against the tide's raw force, but it was already exhausted.
And the water was simply too powerful.
Within seconds, the Arm Hammer's glow flickered and faded—
And then, Ursaring was completely swallowed by the raging Water Spout.
When the water finally receded, Ursaring was out cold.
Audience Eruption
"WHAT THE HELL?! WHEN DID WARTORTLE GET SO STRONG?!"
"THAT WAS ONE MOVE! ONE MOVE!!"
"I thought Water Spout was just a normal attack???"
"Bro, where the hell did all that water even come from??"
Sean stared at the battlefield, completely dumbfounded.
"This... THIS is Wartortle???"
His mind struggled to process what he just witnessed. The tiny turtle had just unleashed a gigantic tidal wave.
On the Field
Bella smirked and proudly lifted her chin.
"Hmph~ Do you now understand the power of Water Spout?"
All around her, the audience was still reeling from shock.
This was one of the main reasons she had picked Squirtle when she first visited Pokémon House.
Of course, back then, she mostly chose it because it was cute and full of personality.
But over time, Wartortle had awakened something special—
The devastating power of Water Spout.
At first, Bella hadn't thought much of it. The move name sounded… well, boring.
But the first time she saw Wartortle use it in battle?
She knew it was something special.
On the Sidelines
Ethan raised an eyebrow in surprise.
"A genetic awakening of Water Spout, huh?"
Very few Pokémon could learn this move. Normally, it was exclusive to Wailmer, Frillish, and Kyogre.
Squirtle and Remoraid were the only non-legendary Pokémon that could inherit it.
And in terms of raw power—
Water Spout's base damage was 150.
That was the highest base power possible for standard moves, comparable to Hyper Beam or Giga Impact.
Of course, its strength depended on the user's health—the more HP they had, the stronger it was.

Ryan exhaled slowly and recalled Ursaring.
"That was… something else."
The sheer power of that move caught him completely off guard.
But he still had one more Pokémon.
"Steelix! You're up!"
A flash of light, and the massive steel serpent landed with a heavy crash.
"Wartortle! Water Spout again!" Bella wasted no time.
"Steelix! Dig underground!"
The moment Wartortle puffed up its cheeks again, Steelix burrowed into the ground.
The massive tide crashed into nothing.
Bella frowned.
"Careful, Wartortle!"
Even though Steelix had dodged, the leftover water was already seeping into the hole.
Steelix wouldn't be able to hide forever.
Then—
CRACK!
The battlefield suddenly split apart—Steelix was coming up fast!
"Wartortle! Move!"
Wartortle tried to dodge—
But before it could—
"Screech!!"
A piercing, ear-shattering noise filled the battlefield.
Wartortle flinched in pain, covering its ears.
And in that moment of hesitation—
"Thunder Fang!"
Steelix lunged forward, jaws crackling with electricity—
CHOMP!
Lightning surged through Wartortle's body!
A Fierce Struggle
Bella gritted her teeth.
"Wartortle! Withdraw!"
Wartortle quickly retracted into its shell, reducing the damage.
But—
"Crunch!"
Steelix bit down again, this time gripping Wartortle's shell.
"Water Spout!"
"Spit it out!"
Before Steelix could react—
"Kamei!!"
Wartortle unleashed one last Water Spout—point-blank.
BOOM!
Steelix was sent flying.
When the dust settled, Wartortle had collapsed—
But Steelix was barely hanging on.
Ethan raised his flag.
"Wartortle is unable to battle! Steelix wins!"
Bella recalled Wartortle and took a deep breath.
"Now… it's time for the final round."
She clutched her last Poké Ball.
Ryan exhaled.
"One last battle… let's go all out!"
