An Uchiha Jonin, on the brink of death, roared furiously at Itachi.
Itachi's hand trembled slightly—then his resolve hardened. He continued reaping the lives of his clansmen.
Even his father—Fugaku Uchiha, couldn't sway him. The curses of others meant even less; they couldn't shake his determination.
"Kill the traitor Itachi Uchiha! Cleanse the Uchiha Clan!"
Some Uchiha clansmen gathered, charging towards Itachi together.
In that moment, even their enemies, the Konoha ninja, became secondary. Itachi Uchiha was their primary target.
No one tolerates a traitor. Enemies might be forgiven, but betrayal never is.
Itachi Uchiha was undeniably a traitor—one who betrayed his own family.
And earlier, to break their spirit, Itachi had already told them he had killed Fugaku Uchiha.

This Uchiha coup wasn't necessarily narrow-mindedness. They were fighting for their own future.
For the Uchiha Clan, it was kill or be killed. Rather than die meekly, they chose to fight back.

The battle raged on, but it was nearing its end.
Konoha ninja reinforcements continued to arrive, vastly outnumbering the Uchiha.
Combined with Itachi's ruthless slaughter, only a few Uchiha clansmen were left fighting. The rest had fallen.
Not a single one surrendered. The Uchiha Clan had backbone, fueled by their innate pride. They would rather die than surrender.

"Danzō, are you alright?" Hiruzen Sarutobi caught Danzō as he was sent flying, asking with concern.
Danzō closed his eyes, silent. Do I look alright? I just got punched by Susanoo!
If Danzō hadn't reacted instantly, he might already be dead.
"Cough… Hiruzen, I'll leave the rest to you." Danzō refused to fight anymore. He couldn't afford to. Continuing would force him to use his trump card, Izanagi.
He avoided using that trump card unless absolutely necessary. It was a troublesome technique, usable only with the Sharingan.
Izanagi was a forbidden Dōjutsu, requiring at least a three-tomoe Sharingan to activate.
Hailed as the perfect Dōjutsu, it was a forbidden technique used on oneself.
At the moment of activation, it recorded the user's state with the Sharingan. Within the jutsu's effective time—any damage suffered by the user, including death, would be physically reverted to the recorded state.
Essentially, all negative effects, including death, were converted into illusions, while all beneficial actions, like the user's attacks, became reality.
A jutsu that freely manipulated reality and illusion—that was Izanagi.
This Dōjutsu was incredibly broken, but the cost was immense: The Sharingan used to activate Izanagi would be permanently blinded.
Danzō had plenty of Sharingan implanted on his body, but he dared not use Izanagi recklessly. Hiruzen wouldn't easily let it slide.
Danzō understood the stakes. Unless his life was truly in danger, he wouldn't use it.
"Alright, Danzō, rest." Hiruzen allowed Danzō to withdraw. He would face Shisui Uchiha alone.
Shisui, having fought for so long against two opponents, showed no signs of fatigue. An Edo Tensei summon wouldn't tire.
Unless Shin released the jutsu or Shisui was sealed, he could fight indefinitely.
There were other ways to defeat Edo Tensei, such as Yin-Yang Release or Truth-Seeking Orbs. Reanimated bodies stood no chance against those.
Another method was destroying the soul. If the soul was annihilated, the Edo Tensei would be broken.
However, besides sealing, Konoha lacked the means to deal with Shisui.
"Lord Hokage, leave Shisui to me," Itachi Uchiha approached Hiruzen.
"Itachi, can you handle him?" Hiruzen asked gravely.
"I'm not sure." Itachi admitted truthfully. He had no certainty of victory.
Itachi said nothing further. The masked man claiming to be Madara Uchiha might be watching. Itachi didn't want to appear too close to Hiruzen, lest he arouse suspicion.
However, Obito was already suspicious. Even without hearing their conversation, Obito grew wary.
"Itachi Uchiha plans to infiltrate the Akatsuki as a spy." Shin leaned towards the suspicious Obito and informed him.
"Is that so." Obito's gaze turned cold. He thinks he can fool me? Treat me like an idiot?
"Even if that's the case, you're just using his strength anyway. Whether he's a spy or not doesn't really matter."
Obito fell silent. Shin Uzumaki was right. He only wanted to utilize Itachi's strength.
Or rather, everyone in the Akatsuki was a tool for him to use.
He had initially considered eliminating Itachi, but Obito decided against it for now. He might as well use him to the fullest.
As for Itachi being a spy, Obito would assign someone to watch him. Leaking some insignificant information wouldn't matter.
Later, he would inform Nagato Uzumaki, testing Nagato's abilities by having him deal with Itachi.
