Possessing the bloodline of the Ōtsutsuki, he already held formidable power, and had even awakened the unique Tenseigan. He wielded strength rivaling that of the Sage of Six Paths himself, and now, he had absorbed the chakra of the Tailed Beasts as well.
Just what... What sort of transformation might occur between Toneri Ōtsutsuki and the Tailed Beast chakra?
The thought made even Sasuke unable to suppress a flicker of concern. He glanced at Hamura Ōtsutsuki standing before him.
"If you don't believe me, then I'll show you right now. Let's see what state this world is truly in!" With that, Sasuke reached out, grabbed Hamura, and activated Amenotejikara in the next instant. Sasuke vanished immediately.
While Amenotejikara couldn't transport them instantly from the Sand Village all the way to Konoha in one go, Sasuke's current power level allowed him to use the technique repeatedly in rapid succession.
Flickering, teleporting again and again—Hamura was completely disoriented. Sasuke possessed such power? If he unleashed this frantic teleportation in battle... Hamura realized he likely would have been defeated long ago, utterly incapable of mounting any resistance against such relentless spatial displacement.
Sasuke was rapidly closing the distance to Konoha.
Meanwhile, in the Hidden Leaf Village itself...
Shikamaru carried Naruto on his back, retreating rapidly towards the distance. Naruto had shielded the villagers with his own body, intercepting Toneri's attack. If he hadn't, he wouldn't be in his current state.
The Three-Tails, Six-Tails, Seven-Tails, and Eight-Tails had been forcibly ripped from his body! While the One, Two, Four, Five, and Nine-Tails remained, losing so many Bijuu at once, especially while already injured, was like adding salt to his wounds.
Though the injuries weren't immediately fatal, recovery wouldn't be quick. Shikamaru fled with Naruto; the Hokage absolutely couldn't afford any further harm, or Konoha's situation would become truly perilous.
With the Hokage injured and unconscious from protecting the village, Konoha's shinobi desperately tried to hold back Toneri Ōtsutsuki. The situation was so dire that even Might Guy prepared to intervene, but unfortunately, he was struck down and knocked unconscious by a single, casual blow from Toneri before he could even activate the Eight Gates Released Formation. His fight was over before it began.
Facing Toneri Ōtsutsuki, now empowered by Tailed Beast chakra, the village's shinobi were completely ineffective. Toneri, who was already incredibly powerful in his Tenseigan Chakra Mode, underwent a transformation after absorbing the Bijuu chakra. His appearance changed; the green aura that previously enveloped him shifted to a vibrant red. Bathed in this crimson chakra, his presence became even more intimidating. Even his Tenseigan seemed to be changing – the normally blue-white eyes now held faint glimmers of gold.
'A Golden Tenseigan... Is this a precursor to its full awakening?' Toneri was genuinely surprised. He'd never imagined that absorbing Tailed Beast chakra could trigger such a phenomenon.
It seemed the Golden Tenseigan didn't strictly require a massive number of Byakugan to awaken. Tailed Beast chakra could also amplify dōjutsu power, potentially forcing its evolution. If that's the case... Toneri realized, ...then I must find a way to absorb even more Bijuu chakra. A flicker of greed ignited in his eyes.
His once calm expression twisted, becoming more predatory. Evolving the Tenseigan would elevate his power to yet another level. Then, he could finally destroy this failed world and create a truly beautiful new one!
However, creating a new world couldn't be accomplished by him alone. Toneri's gaze swept across the crowd of Konoha shinobi, narrowing until it locked onto Sarada Uchiha. She possessed an equally outstanding bloodline. Although her eyes weren't Byakugan, Toneri could see the potential within Sarada's Sharingan far surpassed that of the others. And she's just a young girl... Excellent. Perfectly suited to become a being who would create the new world alongside him.
Toneri unleashed a powerful shockwave, blowing away all the surrounding ninja. He then shot straight towards Sarada, reaching out to grab her.
But in the next second, Boruto appeared, blocking Toneri's path directly in front of Sarada. "If you want to touch her, you'll have to get through me first!"
Thwack!
With a mere flick of his wrist, Toneri manipulated a small stone, sending it instantly piercing through Boruto's chest.
"Nuisance."
Although Toneri noted that Boruto's eyes also seemed to conceal considerable power, Sarada remained the one who better suited his requirements. Watching the spray of blood burst in the air, Sarada's eyes narrowed slightly in shock.
In that instant, every Konoha ninja froze. The Hokage's son... was killed?
Staring at Boruto lying in a pool of his own blood, the color instantly drained from Sarada's face.
Death! The word had always felt so distant, so unreal... but now, it had happened right before her eyes.
"Bo... Boruto..." Sarada whispered his name, her voice trembling, but there was no response. His breathing grew shallower, fainter... fading away entirely.
Just then, Toneri stepped before Sarada.
"...You are special," he declared. "Join me. We will destroy this failed world and create a magnificent new one!" He looked down at the devastated Sarada, then cast a dismissive glance at Boruto's body on the ground. "His death isn't worthy of pity. Come with me."
Lost in grief, Sarada suddenly snapped her head up, glaring at Toneri.
In that very instant, her three-tomoe Sharingan blazed to life. Then, in a flash, the pattern within her eyes shifted, transforming into something new.
BOOM!
An invisible ripple of power exploded outwards from her. The Mangekyō Sharingan had awakened!
With her newly activated eyes burning with incandescent rage, purple flames began to coalesce around her. The purple energy surged upwards from her feet, rapidly coalescing in the blink of an eye into a monstrous form.
Susanoo!
Though it was only the skeletal stage, not yet its complete form, the Susanoo erupting around Sarada radiated astonishing power.
Toneri paused, momentarily taken aback. "Impressive talent," he mused aloud. "To unlock a portion of these eyes' potential so quickly! It seems that boy's death wasn't entirely useless after all. At least it brought about this change in you. In that sense, perhaps his death had some meaning."
Hearing this, Sarada's fury intensified. Boruto's death... held only that insignificant meaning in this monster's eyes? Him! Unforgivable!
CRASH!
Instantly, her Susanoo raised its massive fist and brought it crashing down. But just as quickly, Toneri simply tilted his head up slightly, his gaze fixing on the descending fist. Impossibly, the Susanoo's fist froze mid-air. Held fast.
A powerful repulsive force emanated from Toneri, preventing Sarada's Susanoo from advancing even an inch further.
"You may have awakened a fraction of your eyes' potential," Toneri stated coolly, "but ultimately, you are still far too weak. Resisting me is impossible. If dōjutsu can be ranked, yours is merely a low-grade power. My Tenseigan exists on an entirely different level!"
