Leaving Mercedes in Patrian, Blade logged out and met his uncle in the living room.
"I have packed our stuff, so just get ready. Our flight is in the evening," he said, and Blade nodded.
Soon, they arrived at the airport, waiting for their flight. James met his colleague, who was also going on the same trip.
"Is he your nephew?" asked the lady. She was Rebecca, a doctor who works with James.
"Yes," James said. "He's my nephew," he added, then turned to Blade. "You can also call her Aunt. She's like a sister to me," he said as Blade nodded and greeted her.
"You're doing fine. You're a great kid," she said, teasing him as she ruffled his hair. Blade just smiled.
"And it seems you're also a great player, given that you've been selected by the people to participate in the competition," she said.
James shook his head. "He's not participating in the national competition," he clarified.
They were on their way to South Korea, where the national competition was being held. It was the very first officially sanctioned national event, and since the game was owned by a billionaire company, it was drawing a lot of attention.
"So, you're just going on a vacation I guess, huh?" she said with a smile.
After a long flight, the plane finally landed in South Korea. As the announcement echoed through the cabin, Blade stretched his arms and glanced out the window at the bustling airport. The moment they stepped off the plane, a wave of cool air greeted them, a stark contrast to the warm atmosphere inside.
James led the way through, handling their paperwork swiftly. Rebecca walked beside them, glancing at Blade with curiosity.
"So, are you excited?" she asked.
Blade shrugged. "Not really. It's just another place."
Rebecca chuckled. "You really are a quiet one, aren't you?"
James nodded apologetically. "You'll get used to it."
As they walked through the airport, the massive banners and advertisements for the national competition were impossible to ignore. Screens displayed highlights of top players, interviews, and upcoming matches. The game's popularity was undeniable, and the entire city seemed to be buzzing with excitement.
Blade's eyes scanned the screens, briefly stopping on a few familiar names. Some of the top players were people he had encountered in the game before, though they had no idea who he really was.
James followed his gaze and smirked. "Recognizing anyone?"
Blade simply nodded before continuing forward.
Once outside, they hailed a cab to their hotel. The streets of Seoul were alive with neon lights and the chatter of people. Every corner had a café, a gaming center, or a billboard related to the competition. The entire city was embracing the event like a festival.
At the hotel, James checked them in, and they headed to their rooms. Blade set his bag down and took a deep breath. He had his own plans for this event. Though he wasn't in the spotlight, he was still part of the game in a way no one would expect.
he walked to the VR capsule each room is equipped with and logged in and then he went to meeting point which is an bar in Patrian.
"You arrived?" asked the lady as he sat down.
"Yes," Blade replied.
She was Yoo Nahee, one of the team leaders in the Satisfy management team.
Blade's way of participating in the competition was something that set him apart from the rest. Instead of directly joining the national competition, he was taking part in a special in-game event—the Demon King Raid—a hidden event that would only be revealed during the final PvP match.
Thanks to Blade possessing four named NPCs, he had managed to secure the role of the Demon King himself—an event that, in the original timeline, only appeared during the third national competition. His role revolved around acting as the final boss of the raid while his four strongest NPC subordinates served as the Gate Guardians, each positioned at different locations on the battlefield to halt the players' progress.
To ensure that no one realized the Demon King was actually a player, his appearance would be altered. Each of his subordinates had also been customized with different cosmetics, making them unrecognizable from their original forms.
"This is the final contract," Yoo Nahee said, showing him the finalized document.
Blade nodded as he reviewed the details.
"The settings are good," he muttered.
"For every 30 minutes you survive as the Demon King, you'll earn a gold medal," Yoo Nahee continued. "That might sound great at first, but considering that you'll be facing hundreds of top-ranked players, holding your position will be extremely difficult."
Blade nodded and added, "Well, it's great for me since I'll get an opportunity to exchange those medals for in-game rewards."
Yoo Nahee nodded as well. "Well then, best of luck."
Blade smiled and nodded. He didn't need luck—he had a plan.
A plan to go and make the equipment, that will appear in game later after Grid travel to Eastern Continent, now and using them ascend as Legendary blacksmith.
Making a legendary gear is very difficult, though he now is eligible to create one, but making one is proving exceptionally hard, so he is planning to get his hand on the legendary crafting material and then try it, hoping to get the legendary gear made with their help.
Though, he need to come with how he even know information on those items, that are yet to be revealed in the game.
Blade then logged out as he is now going to tour the city a bit, now that he is in South Korea, he should at least enjoy it now.
Coming out of his room, he went to common room, a big hall where all the rankers are present, he looked around as they all mingled, and finding some eye catching ones like Jishuka the red head archer, she is easy to spot as many males are hovering around her, it can't be helped as she is hot afterall.
