At Leng Yaozhu's command, the staff in the hall immediately activated the Soul Spirit Tower, and the golden light gate instantly radiated a dazzling brilliance.
Seeing this, Jing Shaoyu didn't hesitate. He immediately led the group up the steps toward the gate leading to the Soul Spirit Tower. With a single step, golden light enveloped them, and the seven figures entered the light gate one after another. Accompanied by a dazzling display of light and shadow, they all disappeared.
Unlike the disorienting sensation when entering the Spirit Ascension Platform, stepping through the golden light gate felt no different from passing through an ordinary door. Jing Shaoyu felt no unusual reaction, only a flash of golden light before his eyes, and then he found himself in a massive hall.
He took in the sight before him: a grand hall spanning over a thousand square meters. Surrounding the hall were towering, thick stone pillars that seemed to support the majestic and ancient structure like celestial columns. The floor was paved with large, smooth, and pristine blue bricks, making it feel as though they were standing in an ancient city.
The others appeared behind Jing Shaoyu one by one. As they steadied themselves, the golden light suddenly vanished. At the same time, a swirl of light and shadow danced before their eyes, and a surreal image transformed before them. A dreamlike tower abruptly appeared in front of them.
This tower seemed to float among the clouds high in the sky, extending layer upon layer into the depths of the heavens, yet it also appeared to be grounded on the earth before them. The ancient, majestic, and vast aura of the tower overwhelmed them, making the seven feel a slight sense of unreality.
The light grew more substantial, while the shadows became more ethereal. Everything happened in an instant—the tower disappeared, and the hall reappeared.
This time, the hall felt incredibly real. It was an octagonal hall with eight massive metal doors on each side. Each door was enormous, and even from a distance, the bronze rings on the doors were clearly visible. The octagonal hall had a diameter of over three hundred meters, and the space was exceptionally vast. The seven of them stood in the center of the hall, feeling incredibly small.
"Everyone, form the formation!" Jing Shaoyu immediately issued the command. At the same time, his Origin Elf Soul attached to his body, and four Soul Rings flew out. The Staff of Stars fell into his hand, and he lightly tapped it on the ground. Instantly, a sapphire-blue aura enveloped everyone.
Upon hearing Jing Shaoyu's words, the group quickly responded. Na'er, Ye Xinglan, Mo Hentian, and Wu Siduo took positions on the four sides, while Gu Yue and Xu Xiaoyan formed a triangle with Jing Shaoyu. The seven of them directly formed a square with a triangle inside.
The four on the outer circle each released their Martial Souls, and the uniform purple Soul Rings were a pleasing sight. Gu Yue and Xu Xiaoyan in the inner circle were equally quick, each releasing their Martial Souls and Soul Rings. Six purple Soul Rings and five black Soul Rings made the inner circle's Soul Rings even more imposing.
As the group assumed their battle stances, the eight metal doors on the outer edge of the hall opened almost simultaneously. A low, menacing growl slowly emanated from within.
The first thing the seven saw was a multitude of cold, glowing green eyes, so numerous that it almost triggered a sense of trypophobia, sending shivers down their spines.
"It's a pack of wolves!" Wu Siduo immediately judged.
And as soon as she spoke, as if to confirm her words, dark gray wolves with glowing green eyes emerged from the metal doors, baring their sharp, bloodthirsty fangs as they coldly stared at the seven.
Wind Wolves, a common Soul Beast that lives in forests, are absolutely pack-oriented wolf-type Soul Beasts. A single Wind Wolf is quite weak, even weaker than some herbivorous Soul Beasts. However, a pack of Wind Wolves is incredibly formidable, even daring to attack powerful lion and tiger-type Soul Beasts.
The number of Wind Wolves emerging from the eight metal doors was a staggering one hundred and twenty-eight, which constituted a medium-sized Wind Wolf pack. Each of these Wind Wolves was a hundred-year Soul Beast. If they attacked together, even a thousand-year lion or tiger would likely be killed.
The Wind Wolf pack was cautious. They encircled the seven, slowly closing in on the center. This was their usual hunting tactic—compressing the prey's movement space and then launching a collective assault to swiftly kill the enemy.
"Attack head-on!" Jing Shaoyu issued the command. Facing this pack of hundred-year Wind Wolves, there was no need for special tactics. A straightforward, forceful assault would suffice. For them, this was the simplest and fastest method.
Na'er was the first to strike. Her Silver Dragon Lance trembled lightly as her petite figure flashed, instantly appearing amidst the pack of wolves on her side. With a sweep of her lance, two Wind Wolves were instantly killed, throwing the pack into chaos. Nearly thirty Wind Wolves nearby immediately turned their attention to her, baring their fangs and pouncing, while a series of Wind Blades crisscrossed and slashed toward her.
Seeing Na'er take the lead, Mo Hentian, the protagonist of this tower challenge, wasn't about to fall behind. The first Soul Ring behind her flashed with purple light, and the Sky-Hate Hammer in her hand instantly grew larger. She crouched slightly, then the next second, she soared into the air. With both hands gripping the massive Sky-Hate Hammer, she descended from the sky with a thunderous crash, landing amidst the thirty-two wolves on her side. The hammer's resonance instantly killed five Wind Wolves.
Ye Xinglan and Wu Siduo also charged into the wolf pack. One wielded the Star God Sword, her sword light dazzling as the wolves howled in agony. The other transformed into a spirit cat, her sharp claws tearing through the pack with each swipe and pounce.
The four of them didn't even consider their Soul Power consumption, for with Jing Shaoyu, a top-tier support Soul Master, there was no need to worry about running out of Soul Power.
Thus, the four of them quickly resolved the battle, hardly pausing as they cleanly dispatched the one hundred and twenty-eight Wind Wolves.
They returned to their positions, only slightly out of breath, their Soul Power consumption minimal thanks to the ongoing sapphire-blue aura beneath their feet.
"First floor of the Soul Spirit Tower, cleared," an electronic voice echoed from all directions. "Selectable Soul Spirit level: thousand-year. Selectable Soul Spirit types: three. Will you make a selection?"
An illusory light gate appeared before them, the images of three Soul Beasts alternating on its surface. The Wind Wolves from earlier were among them, along with two other common Soul Spirits.
No one paid attention to this light gate, as they had already set their sights on acquiring a ten-thousand-year Soul Spirit for Little Mo. Why would they bother with these thousand-year Soul Spirits?
They stepped through the light gate directly, arriving on the second floor. The environment here was no different from the first—the same octagonal hall, the same eight metal doors.
The seven of them immediately took their positions, ready to face the second floor's Soul Beast trial.
The eight metal doors on the second floor slowly opened, and eight female Flame Demon Lions emerged. Seeing that the second floor's Soul Beasts were eight Flame Demon Lions, and judging from their Soul Power fluctuations, they were only five-hundred-year Soul Beasts, Jing Shaoyu couldn't help but inwardly grumble. How was the difficulty of the second floor even lower than the first?
Despite this thought, Jing Shaoyu immediately said, "Continue, finish them quickly!"
Na'er, Mo Hentian, Ye Xinglan, and Wu Siduo continued their assault, with Jing Shaoyu providing support. Gu Yue and Xu Xiaoyan conserved their energy, as it was only the second floor, and their assistance wasn't needed yet.
The eight female Flame Demon Lions posed no obstacle to their progress. Na'er and the others unleashed their full power, easily dispatching the lions in under a minute.
"Second floor, cleared."
Once again, they didn't linger, continuing to challenge the tower. The next few floors were equally straightforward, and they breezed through to the ninth floor.
The Soul Spirit Tower increased in difficulty every eight floors. While the eighth floor's Soul Beasts were just over a thousand years old, the ninth floor's had already reached the three-thousand-year mark.
Four bear-like Soul Beasts appeared before them, each with a silly, dopey expression. These bears were covered in snow-white fur, their bodies robust. With each breath, frost seemed to gather in the air. These were Ice Bears from the far north, each with a three-thousand-year cultivation.
A three-thousand-year Soul Beast could rival a Soul Venerable in strength, but Jing Shaoyu's group still had Na'er and the other three take the lead. While a three-thousand-year Soul Beast might be challenging for an ordinary Soul Venerable, for these genius Soul Masters, it was nothing.
Each of them took on a bear, launching their attacks.
Na'er's Silver Dragon Lance flickered with light as she swung it forcefully, slamming it into an Ice Bear's stomach. The bear let out a pained roar, its eyes blazing with fury as it lunged at Na'er. A hint of disdain flashed in Na'er's eyes as she gracefully danced, her lance piercing through the bear's eye and out the back of its head.
Mo Hentian's attack was straightforward and unadorned. She gripped her Clear Sky Hammer, its dark light shimmering, and pounded the Ice Bear with each swing. Her movements were broad and forceful, looking cathartic and satisfying. However, the bear, treated like a punching bag, didn't share the sentiment. It could only pitifully shield its head, its once-mighty aura as the ruler of the far north completely gone. In the end, Mo Hentian's hammer smashed its skull, ending its brief and miserable life.
Ye Xinglan and Wu Siduo also dealt with their opponents at the same time. As the four Ice Bears dissipated, Xu Xiaoyan showed a hint of r
egret on her face. She sighed, "Ah! Such cute bears, what a pity!"
