Kent didn't know he would be pulled into the Dead Region, which is one of the many dangerous places in the Ancient Battlefield of Parting.
Nobody knew what was inside that space, simply because all who entered never returned. So he never expected there to be a teleporter that could send someone there.
However, since there was, he most certainly wasn't going to allow the user to get the satisfaction they wanted. He was more shameless than that.
Hearing the smugness in the voice of the 16th Oracle pissed him off so he knew he had to mess with her head and wipe the smugness from her face under the mask.
So, knowing nobody truly knew his background, when he was getting pulled in, he made sure the person who wanted to send him to his death was made aware he was from the Dead Region.
There was no way the lady from the Oracles could know whether he was lying or not.
