"Hey! I wasn't even finished!" Konan complained.
"I know what you were going to say," Mirai replied calmly. "But I can tell you clearly—things aren't the way you think."
"Then why is it that none of us are pregnant?" Konan pressed. "It's one thing if one or two of us have trouble, but all of us? It's not normal, right?"
Since she'd already brought it up, Konan decided there was no point holding back.
Over the years, she and the others had secretly discussed this more than once. But because they were worried about upsetting Mirai, they had always kept quiet.
Now that the question was out in the open, she wanted a straight answer.
If there was a problem, they weren't afraid to face it—but they needed to know.
Uchiha Mirai was briefly at a loss for words.
He hadn't expected his women to be thinking about this.
But then again, it made sense. After all these years without a single pregnancy, it was only natural for doubts to creep in.
After a moment's thought, Mirai explained,
"Actually, this was intentional on my part."
"I'm not ready yet to welcome a new life into the world."
"Plus, the shinobi world is still under threat from the Ōtsutsuki clan. I want to completely eliminate that danger before we start thinking about having children."
Uchiha Mirai had already achieved immortality, and so had the women who followed him.
If they were to have children, countless questions would arise.
Should the child be granted immortality too?
And what about the child's descendants?
Would he allow all his future generations to live forever?
If not, he would have to watch them grow old and die, over and over again—left with nothing but memories.
Even if he could endure that, could his women?
Mirai hadn't yet figured out how he wanted to face the endless journey of life ahead. So for now, he had no plans to bring a child into the world.
Unlike the child-free couples of his previous life who might later regret their choice with age, Mirai had infinite time to think it through.
In his endless lifespan, there was no rush, no fear of regret.
Given that, he decided it was best not to rush into things.
After he briefly explained his concerns, Konan found herself at a loss for words.
Emotionally, they all wanted to have Mirai's child.
But the issues he raised... they were things they'd never even thought about.
Even now, just the idea of possibly being separated from her child forever made Konan's heart ache.
"...I understand, Mirai. I'll talk to the others," she said softly.
She threw her arms around him, burying her face in his chest.
Meeting such a strong yet caring man was the greatest blessing of her life.
"Konan..." Mirai murmured.
"Hm?"
"Can we start now?"
"Ugh! Seriously?!" Konan groaned, looking up at him. "I'm having a heartfelt moment here, and this is what you say?"
"But can we?" he asked again, giving her that shameless look.
Konan sighed deeply. "Honestly... there's just no dealing with you."
...
Land of Vegetables
Two figures floated silently above the city—one tall and burly, the other slender and exuding a sinister air.
The smaller, more androgynous figure sneered.
"Kinshiki, I think we can confirm it—this is the planet that Ōtsutsuki Isshiki and Ōtsutsuki Kaguya discovered long ago."
"To think it could develop this much..."
The bulky man, Kinshiki, nodded.
"Lord Momoshiki, Isshiki and Kaguya have been out of contact with the homeworld for a long time. It's highly likely that something happened to them here."
"We should proceed with caution."
Hearing Kinshiki's concern, Momoshiki couldn't help but laugh, clutching his forehead in amusement.
"Hahaha! Kinshiki, are you seriously worried these lowly ants could pose a threat to us?"
"Maybe the planet hasn't been drained yet, but it hardly matters now."
"We'll just collect all the chakra, then use the Divine Tree's seed to drain this world's energy dry."
"A thriving planet like this should be more than enough for me to ascend to a new level of power."
With that, Momoshiki began descending toward the ground, and Kinshiki followed closely behind.
As the subordinate, Kinshiki had no choice but to obey Momoshiki's every command.
As the two gradually descended, the shinobi guarding the capital spotted them.
Seeing two strangers in odd clothing floating in midair, the shinobi immediately raised their guard.
"Who are you?!" one of them barked.
Momoshiki smirked coldly.
"Kinshiki. Kill them."
"Yes, my lord."
Kinshiki reached out into the air—and in a flash, a massive battle axe, glowing with a fierce red light, materialized in his hand.
In the next instant, Kinshiki's figure vanished.
"Not good!" one of the guards shouted—but before he could react, he was cleaved clean in two.
Against Kinshiki, the guards of the Land of Vegetables stood no chance.
"Lord Kikunojo! The enemy is too strong! We can't beat them!"
The man they called Kikunojo responded in a low, steady voice,
"Send the signal flare. I'll try to take him out."
As the captain of the guard, Kikunojo made his decision instantly.
That smaller man—he was clearly the one giving orders.
If he could capture him, maybe... just maybe, the brute would hesitate.
Without hesitation, Kikunojo used Body Flicker Technique and appeared behind Momoshiki.
"Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique!"
With a swift series of hand signs, Kikunojo unleashed a massive fireball roaring straight at Momoshiki.
Momoshiki simply smirked.
"So this is the extent of the power of these inferior beings?"
Raising his right hand, he revealed the crimson Rinnegan embedded in his palm.
In an instant, the massive fireball was completely absorbed.
Without pause, Momoshiki floated higher into the sky, lifting his other arm.
"Allow me to show you... what true power looks like."
A colossal fireball—several hundred meters in diameter—materialized out of thin air. The heat radiating from it instantly sent the temperature soaring.
The shinobi below stared up in shock as Momoshiki, with a flick of his hand, sent the burning mass hurtling toward the ground.
"Die, you worthless insects," he sneered, his face twisting into a cruel smile.
Slaughtering the natives of inferior worlds had always been one of his favorite pastimes.
