An hour later.
Kishi stood on the second-floor windowsill of the villa, taking out a cigarette, lighting it, and taking a drag.
He exhaled deeply, as if he was trying to release his entire soul with the smoke.
The matter was done.
Looking down, he saw several government agents in black lifting Makima's body and placing it into a truck before driving off. Kishi felt a sense of lightness.
Although it hadn't been obvious on the surface, he had been deeply troubled for the past few days.
Makima had taken control of the Cabinet, and most of the Public Safety Bureau's Devil hunters were completely under her control. To avoid becoming one of her subordinates, he had been forced to hide like a rat in the shadows, evading her ubiquitous surveillance.
Even when he personally met with the Yamai sisters and worked out a deal with them, deep down, he hadn't held out much hope.
To defeat Makima, who had taken control of the entire country, seemed impossible.
Kishi gazed at the sky, the blue sky and white clouds reflecting in his dazed eyes, and he couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions he couldn't express.
He never imagined that Makima would actually be brought down.
Yamai Kazamachi's arrival had made the plan and backup plans he'd been agonizing over for so long completely obsolete.
But, he didn't have any complaints about it.
To resolve the disaster caused by the Control Devil without any bloodshed was naturally the best outcome.
Watching the truck leave, Kishi stubbed out his still-smoking cigarette and turned back to enter the villa.
"Thank you, truly."
Looking at Yamai Kazamachi, who was leisurely watching the news on the couch, Kishi spoke seriously. "The countries and governments of the world will thank you for this. Humanity owes you a great debt."
Yamai Kazamachi continued to watch the news without looking away, casually waving her hand as if to dismiss the praise. "It was just a small thing. There's no need to worry about it."
What she had done was simply to propose a solution.
After handing over Denji's heart to Makima, she had immersed herself in the spiritual space to meet with Pochita.
What they discussed, the three people present didn't know.
But after leaving the spiritual space, Makima's expression had noticeably relaxed. Whether it was because a wish had been fulfilled or because something had been resolved during her conversation with Pochita, no one could say.
After returning Denji's heart, she had dissolved her contract with the Japanese Prime Minister, preparing to welcome her death.
Yamai Kazamachi hadn't held back and ended her life without pain, making the Control Devil, Makima, disappear from the human world.
Compared to Makima's tragic end in the original story, this ending was undoubtedly much better.
Perhaps, in Hell, the Control Devil would be defeated again and return to the human world. But that was no longer something Yamai Kazamachi needed to worry about.
[Main Mission Completed: Became famous in the Devil and Devil hunter world as Berserker.]
[This roleplay ends here.]
[The host may return to the settlement space within 24 hours.]
Without warning, the system screen appeared before Yamai Kazamachi's eyes.
She smiled in delight and casually turned off the TV, which had been broadcasting the news.
The news of the Wind Spirit defeating the Gun Devil had spread quickly across the globe.
Footage of the battle between the Yamai sisters and the Gun Devil, captured by satellite surveillance, had been aired, causing a huge stir on the internet.
Just earlier, the entire Japanese government had received news of Makima's death.
With these two major announcements, the progress of the main mission surged dramatically, naturally completing it.
At this point, Yamai Kazamachi's fame had reached its peak in the human world.
If this didn't complete her mission, she would have to consider going back to Hell to grind reputation in the Devil world.
After all, with Yamai Kazamachi's strength, the chances of a solo trip to Hell ending in failure were virtually negligible.
However, since the system had already indicated that the main mission was complete, there was no need for her to go to Hell.
"Well then, I should be going."
Yamai Kazamachi stood up from the couch, stretching her graceful figure. "The next tasks are up to you... Oh, by the way, the Devil hunters controlled by Makima have been relocated around the area where the Gun Devil landed. You can go check that out."
"Yamai, where are you going?"
Hearing the unusual tone in Yamai Kazamachi's voice, Denji immediately asked, "Aren't you coming with us?"
"Makima is dead, and I've regained the form of the Wind Spirit. There's no reason to stay here now."
Yamai Kazamachi chuckled twice, offering a casual excuse. "Next, I'll probably take a trip through the universe. Just thinking about possibly meeting aliens excites me."
"The universe!"
Denji's eyes widened.
He had originally thought Yamai Kazamachi meant she was leaving to visit other countries, just touring around.
But when she mentioned the vast universe, it really stunned him.
"How long are you going to be gone?" Denji frowned. "The universe is so big, and there's no sense of time. If you're gone for hundreds of years, won't I, Aki, and Power never see you again?"
"Why do you sound like you're going to miss me?" Yamai Kazamachi laughed heartily. "You should be grateful. At least you still have Aki and Power with you, right?"
"But... but Yamai is our partner too!" Denji said anxiously. "Don't you remember all the time we spent together?"
"Of course, I haven't forgotten. Whether it's Kaguya or Yuzuru, they are a part of me. I remember every little thing we did together."
Yamai Kazamachi ruffled Denji's hair and said nonchalantly, "But the free wind doesn't stop for anyone. In your future, you'll meet more passersby like me. Don't try to make everyone stay. Just remember each other with gratitude, and that's enough."
Though they hadn't been in this world for long—less than three months—the Yamai sisters had undoubtedly become friends to these people.
As a traveler, she knew that parting was inevitable.
But what surprised her was that Denji, who usually acted carefree, seemed so reluctant to let her go.
It seemed that, despite being overly obedient, Denji was actually a pretty good kid at heart.
"I understand." Denji sighed. "If you really want to leave, I won't stop you."
"Ha ha, after all we've been through, you've finally grown up a bit."
"However, before you leave, can you promise me one thing?"
"If it's a request to come back and see you all, I can't guarantee that," Yamai Kazamachi said with a teasing smile.
"No, that's not it."
Denji shook his head, hands clasped together, and asked seriously, "Can I touch your chest? Please! I'll do anything!"
"No, it's impossible. I refuse."
Yamai Kazamachi's expression visibly darkened.
"If you want to touch some breasts, you can go chase after the truck that just left. Makima probably won't mind."
