Chapter 185 - Chapter 185: Special Training for Moves

The Wrath of Fire God essentially harnesses strong control power to manipulate external fire energy, creating numerous small flames that continuously descend towards the ground. It is a wide-ranging and sustained move.

This technique works best under clear sunny conditions, as the abundant fire energy makes it easier to execute. However, its drawback lies in being countered by weather-based moves, such as Rain Dance, which would render Wrath of Fire God ineffective.

While Wrath of Fire God can still be used under normal weather conditions, its impact is diminished, though it remains capable of causing continuous damage.

As Kanron played simulation videos, he explained the principles and advantages of Wrath of Fire God, helping Lian gradually gain a deeper understanding.

Since Wrath of Fire God is a sustained move, it requires immense control power. Once activated, the Pokemon does not need to worry about depleting its own energy and can use other moves simultaneously. However, constant control over the formation and descent of airborne flames is essential.

The most challenging aspect of Wrath of Fire God was multitasking; if one could only focus on releasing this move, it would significantly diminish its effectiveness. Kanron's initial goal was to make Wrath of Fire God akin to Sandstorm or Hail, creating a pseudo-weather move that allowed the Pokémon to freely use other attacks while maintaining the technique.

This represented years of research by Kanron, and if successfully implemented in battle, it would be groundbreaking.

Under Sunny Day conditions, Fire-type Pokémon gain immense offensive strength. However, if they cannot swiftly defeat their opponents, they become vulnerable themselves. Most Fire-type Pokémon have limited defensive capabilities, and even those with strong defenses often lack comparable offensive prowess.

Fire-type Pokémon excel at quick assaults, exemplified by Rapidash, Charizard, Blaziken, Infernape, and others.

Therefore, utilizing Wrath of Fire God to continuously wear down opponents would enable Fire-type Pokémon to more easily achieve swift victories.

The power of Wrath of Fire God is substantial, harnessing the explosive nature of flames. This explosiveness is both the move's greatest strength and key characteristic.

Simply falling and burning with ordinary flames lacks true potency. Only when the flames explode can they generate higher destructive force.

On the battlefield,

"For the next few days, you'll train with your Charmeleon alongside me to master the Wrath of Fire God technique. Any objections?" Kanron asked.

"No objections at all. Learning new moves is always exciting for me," Kalia eagerly responded. She had no complaints; mastering this move would be highly beneficial.

"To truly grasp the Wrath of Fire God, exceptional control is required. Over the years, I've observed that as a Pokémon learns more moves, its Control Rating also improves."

"Your Charmeleon currently knows only a limited number of Fire-type moves. I have several Fire-type Move Disks here. Have Charmeleon learn from them and strive for mastery. After three days, we can begin specialized training for the specific move." Kanron explained.

"Really? That's fantastic!" Kalia was pleasantly surprised. Gym Leader Kanron generously offered her Charmeleon free access to his Fire-type Move Disks, which were considered highly valuable.

"My goal has always been to see my created moves utilized on battlefields. A few Move Disks are insignificant compared to achieving that vision." Kanron smiled warmly. He had dedicated countless efforts towards this objective, and now seeing it within reach, he didn't hesitate over sharing some Move Disks.

As the Fire-type Gym Leader, Kanron possessed an extensive collection of Fire-type Move Disks, covering both Special Attack and Physical Attack moves.

Among these discs, Lian could learn several moves: Flaming Charge, Sunny Day, and Overheat. Additionally, there were Flare Blitz, Heat Wave, Inferno, and Exploding Flame, which he couldn't master yet due to his current level requirements.

Over the next few days, Lian embarked on an intense learning spree for Fire-type moves, recognizing this as a rare opportunity. Normally, obtaining such Fire-type Move Disks would be challenging, so he was determined to make the most of it.

Even though moves like Flare Blitz were not immediately accessible, Lian still watched them dozens of times daily to lay a strong foundation. This way, once he evolved, he could swiftly learn these moves and enhance his Control Rating.

Lian's speed in mastering moves was impressive, and he didn't hold back. Within just two days, he had learned all the moves within his reach.

The results were quite satisfactory, aligning with Kanron's advice. Learning more Fire-type moves provided deeper insights into their variations, significantly improving his Control Rating.

However, as the Control Rating increased, it became progressively harder to improve. Despite mastering Flamethrower, Sunny Day, and Overheat, Lian barely managed to raise his Control Rating by 1%. Currently, his Fire-type Energy Control stood at 41%.

Even this small gain of 1% translated into approximately 4,000 Combat Points, which was quite substantial.

Apart from learning new moves, Lian didn't idle during these three days. He utilized his daily combat ratings, although not as fruitful as before, still earning over two thousand Combat Points each day. Over three days, he accumulated more than seven thousand points. Adding the previous remaining balance of one thousand six hundred, Lian now had close to nine thousand Combat Points.

At noon, the hottest time of the day.

On the battlefield, Kalia enjoyed an ice pop under her parasol to shield herself from the intense sun, while Lian stood in the center, awaiting the start of special training.

"Today we begin the Wrath of Fire God training. I'm unsure if it will succeed, but the chances are high. Just follow my instructions, and have Charmeleon execute them accordingly," Kanron said. As he wasn't Charmeleon's Trainer, the Pokémon might not obey him directly, hence the need for Kalia to relay commands.

"Alright, understood," Kalia nodded seriously.

"Let's begin. Have Charmeleon cast Sunny Day first," Kanron instructed. Although Kalia had a Ninetales with the Drought Ability, it couldn't match up to Charmeleon's prowess.

In battle, Charmeleon's superior control would seamlessly integrate Sunny Day with Wrath of Fire God, making Ninetales' Drought Ability less suitable for this specialized training session. Thus, having Charmeleon itself use Sunny Day was preferable.

Lian confidently unleashed Sunny Day, displaying his mastery over the move. A surge of fire energy radiated brilliantly, instantly heating the surroundings and intensifying the glare of the sun.

"Excellent. Since Charmeleon has likely watched numerous simulation videos, have it attempt to condense flames from the air," Kanron continued. He was astonished by Charmeleon's exceptional talent, mastering three Fire-type moves within just a few days. Only a Pokemon with such innate abilities might be capable of learning his Wrath of Fire God technique.

Kanron gradually grew more excited. To develop Wrath of Fire God, he had left the research institute and became the Gym Leader of a Fire-type Gym. For over a decade, there were no significant breakthroughs, but now, at last, hope seemed within reach.
