"Damn, man… that was quite a twist." Edric let out a soft laugh, shaking his head, a smile tugging at his lips.
He honestly hadn't seen it coming—that Alex had such a strong connection with one of the ten contenders. Strong enough that the contender gave up his own spot without hesitation.
Alex gave a small shrug. "I found him a few weeks ago. After seeing how respectful and loyal he was to his father, I figured he'd be a good fit."
At first, Alex had actually planned to force someone to give up their spot. But then… a better, quieter path had appeared. One that didn't need threats.
