Chapter 264 - 264. Back to Hometown

While looking at the snack and toy that were packaged separately in the business car, Jason Liu realized that he had bought them for Bran, when he was picking out gifts for his sister's two children.

After all, he had promised the kid to send something, and he was worried the boy would keep remembering it and constantly come running to him.

He didn't want to be implicated by this child's death, so it was better to give it to him as soon as possible, so Bran could stay in Winterfell and play by himself.

Picking up the big bag of snacks and toys, Jason Liu directly teleported it to the warehouse in the castle, called Kent the kid, and asked him to send the big bag to Bran at Winterfell. Jason Liu returned to the modern world.

Today he was going back to his hometown because the day after tomorrow was the Mid-Autumn Festival, and he could take his two little nephews to play with him if he returned early.

Turning on the navigation and taking the route home via Expressway—about 300 kilometers—it was very close.

Jason Liu was obviously a little nervous because it was his first time driving on the highway.

Although he always heard people say highway driving was easier than city driving, the many high-speed car accident reports on the internet made Jason Liu subconsciously feel unsafe about it.

Even though his sports car could go over 300 kilometers per hour, cautious by nature, Liu honestly kept to the 120 km/h limit.

"Well, there's been progress. At least when he got on the highway, he drove directly over 110 kilometers per hour."

It still felt exciting!

A novice driver shouldn't be too demanding.

After driving for more than two hours, he finally got off the expressway.

Looking at the time—17:42 in the afternoon—Jason Liu thought for a moment and then called his sister, Liu Wan.

"Hey, sis, are you home now?" Jason Liu asked casually over the phone.

In fact, there was no need to ask; he already knew his sister must be home at this time. After all, since she gave birth, she hadn't gone out to work again, spending her days taking care of her two children and the family.

Fortunately, 5-year-old Lila and 3-year-old Noah were already in kindergarten, so his sister didn't have to work so hard taking care of them all day.

Taking care of children was truly exhausting. Every Spring Festival, when he was at home and his sister Liu Wan came to visit relatives, he helped hold Noah, who couldn't even walk at that time, and felt completely worn out.

He didn't know how his sister had survived all these years!

That must be the power of being a mother—the power of a mother's love!

Mothers all over the world truly were great!

After picking up the kids from kindergarten, Liu Wan had let Lila and Noah watch TV in the living room with their grandparents while she cooked dinner alone in the kitchen.

Receiving a sudden call, Liu Wan asked happily, "Jason Liu, are you back today?"

"I've just gotten off the expressway and am driving to your neighborhood.

The clothes, snacks, and toys I bought for Lina and Little Mouse—just come downstairs to pick them up and take them home. I'll head to my place afterward!"

Jason Liu followed the navigation toward the Garden Community.

He knew the name of the community where his sister lived, but he had never been there.

After all, he knew how long his sister had lived at her In-laws family home, and since his brother-in-law Lucas's parents were always arrogant, he never wanted to come by!

Now, he was also planning for his sister to just come downstairs and take the items home so he could drive directly to his house.

"I'm cooking. You'd better come up directly. Don't you know my apartment number?" Liu Wan glanced at the time on her phone—it was almost six o'clock now. She had to let her brother eat at home tonight!

"No need. Or you can have my brother-in-law come down and pick it up. I'm just here to deliver things; I won't go up," Jason Liu refused. He didn't want to go to the house at all.

Liu Wan knew her younger brother generally disliked visiting her house because of her in-laws. She and her husband had been married for years, and her brother had only visited once or twice early on—then never again.

Of course, Liu Wan knew the reason.

But that was in the past. Now that her brother had made it, there was no need to look up to the old In-laws family.

Moreover, because her brother was now successful, her status in the family had significantly improved recently, and her in-laws no longer dared to talk down to her.

These past few months had been the most comfortable days she'd had since getting married.

Even her husband benefited from it!

To put it bluntly, it was like basking in someone else's success.

"It's already dinnertime. How can I let you leave without eating? If Mom finds out, she won't let me go back to our parents' house anymore!" Liu Wan said angrily. Then she raised her voice: "You come downstairs to my community first. Dinner's almost ready. Your brother-in-law and I will come down to pick you up later. Okay, I'm hanging up—I still have chicken soup on the stove!"

Jason Liu looked reluctantly at the phone his sister had hung up, with a headache on his face. Still, he drove on, following the navigation. When he saw them, he'd just hand over the items and leave.

Back in the kitchen, Liu Wan brought the boiled chicken soup to the dining table in the living room. Her husband, Lucas, came out of the room to help carry kitchenware while casually asking, "Who were you calling just now?"

Lucas's Mom and Dad , who were watching TV in the living room, also turned their heads. They'd heard their daughter-in-law talking on the phone just now.

Liu Wan placed a plate of fried pork with green peppers on the table and said calmly, "It was my brother. He called just now.

He came home from City for the Mid-Autumn Festival and bought clothes, snacks, and toys for lila and Noah.

He's delivering them on the way and asked me to go downstairs and bring the things up. He'll go back to Village afterward."

"Jason's back? Haha, great! I haven't seen him in a long time,"

When Lucas heard this, he said happily, "Don't let him go. Let him eat here first, or just stay the night. Haven't Lila and Noah always said they missed him?"

"Is Uncle back, Mom?" Lila's big eyes lit up. The little girl was a picky eater, thin and tall compared to her peers.

"I'm looking for Uncle, Mom, I'm looking for Uncle—" Noah dropped his excavator toy, ran over, and hugged Liu Wan's leg, shouting.

"Put away your toys first. Your uncle will be here soon!" Liu Wan told her son sternly.

Compared to his talkative father, Lucas, the little guy was more afraid of his strict mother. Hearing her words, he immediately turned around, packed up his toys on the sofa, and put them in a box.
