After all, she'd now seen many things—energy shields stopping bullets, blades deflected with bare hands. And yet, none of it felt as terrifying—or as awe-inspiring—as what she'd seen when Alex didn't try. Back at the Warehouse where she was imprisoned she was somewhat concious and have seen Alex in action, though it was more of an glimpse, but it was enough to tell her how powerful this introverted guy is actually.
When he simply looked at someone—and they froze.
When shadows bent around him like they feared him too.
Colleen exhaled, her expression growing serious.
"It's not just that he's strong. It's that he's still getting stronger. Like something inside him is growing with every battle, every day."
Sue frowned slightly.
"You mean like... his Chi?"
Colleen shook her head slowly.
"No. Not just that. His Chi's powerful, yeah—but there's more. There's something else in him. Something ancient… or cursed… or maybe both. I've seen it in his eyes."
She hesitated.
"Sometimes, I don't even think Alex knows what he's becoming."
Sue fell silent, her thoughts spinning. A part of her wanted to run far from whatever that something else was. But another part—some stubborn, reckless part—felt drawn to it.
Like it was fate.
"And he's not afraid of it?" she finally asked.
Colleen gave a small, thoughtful nod.
"I think he is. But the scarier part? I think he's willing to use it anyway. For whatever reason he have."
Sue leaned back, her body still sore, her mind heavier than ever.
"What the hell did I get myself into…" she murmured.
At that moment, the front door creaked open. Alex stepped into the safehouse, rain still clinging to his coat. He looked around and spotted both Colleen and Sue in the living room.
"It seems you're alright," he said with a soft nod to Sue.
She leaned back into the couch, giving him a neutral look. Colleen walked up to him, her tone low and serious.
"Is he dead?" she asked.
Alex nodded silently, then reached for her and kissed her gently. Colleen hesitated for a moment, caught off-guard—but didn't resist. Meanwhile, Sue scrunched her nose in visible annoyance. She didn't understand why, but instead of feeling playful or amused, something about it rubbed her the wrong way.
"Ugh. Go get a room," she muttered, throwing herself back onto the bed and turning away, covering her face with a pillow.
A little while later, as things calmed down, Alex pulled Colleen aside.
She leaned against him and smiled faintly.
"I guess I'm seeing the 'soft' Alex now."
Alex smirked, then made his way over to Sue, who had her back turned.
"Hmm. Now that you're awake, I hope you're ready to answer some of my questions," he said.
Sue rolled over and replied sarcastically,
"Of course. But only after you're done making out with your girlfriend—then I can have your attention, right?"
Alex chuckled and crouched beside her.
"I saved your life, and you act like this?" he teased.
"I should've just left you strapped to that surgical table."
Sue sighed and sat up, shaking her head.
"I know. I'm sorry. I don't know why I'm being like this."
Alex studied her for a moment, then said quietly,
"From what I've learned, you've taken the Immortal Serum. The Hand had been developing it for years. It was based on a series of thier own Chi method—derived from super soldier experiments and Dragon bones."
He stepped closer, his voice steady but grave.
"But the main goal wasn't just strength or speed. Their focus was amplifying something they called the Regenrative Factor—a regenerative essence drawn from ancient dragon marrow. According to their theory, the more Lide energy a subject had—the more Chi pathways they could harness—the more powerful they would be."
"And finally after many failed experiment one successful Serum was created. That serum was crafted by one of their lead researchers. It was smuggled into New York and handed to Bakuto, as that lead scientist was loyal to Bakuto."
He exhaled.
"And Sam—the guy who brought you to me? He was part of it too. But somehow… you ended up injecting yourself with the serum before they could stop you."
Sue's eyes widened.
Alex looked her straight in the eye.
"You unknowingly turned yourself into a living factory of the Immortal Serum. That's why Bakuto wanted you alive. That's why the Hand was hunting you. You're not just carrying the serum—you are the source now."
He paused, then continued,
"The serum they believed was perfect… wasn't. It mutated. Instead of just granting regeneration, it turned the host into a producer—someone whose marrow could endlessly generate more of the Immortal Serum."
Alex looked her over carefully.
"And because you're the first successful host, your body holds more stability and compatibility than anyone who's ever taken it. That makes you both a miracle… and a target."
He sighed, running a hand through his hair.
"From now on, I'll have Colleen teach you how to regulate Chi. You'll need it to control what's happening inside you. After that… I'll help set you up somewhere safe."
His tone turned firm.
"But once that's done—you don't know me. I don't know you. Understand?"
Sue stared at him, then asked quietly,
"Why did you save me in the first place, then? Back at the facility?"
Alex looked away for a moment before answering.
"Because… you kind of saved me first."
He smirked faintly.
"If you hadn't sent Sam to my place when you did, he might've not gotten caught by the cops or ended up in accident. His capture lead to my freedom."
He glanced at her again.
"So… you helped me. Think of this as me repaying the debt."
But deep down, Alex knew the truth was more complicated.
He could have handled Sam himself. Could have killed him, interrogated him, erased the trail. But Sue had stepped in—unintentionally, maybe—but with perfect timing.
And that, more than anything, had earned her a sliver of his help—but that was it. Now, Alex no longer wanted to be involved with her beyond what was necessary. The Marvel timeline was about to begin, and with it, a storm of chaos and madness.
He needed to focus—train harder, sharpen his strength—not just to kill villains, but to withstand the relentless pressure from groups like SHIELD or any government agency that might try to forcibly contain or control him.
