Cherreads

Chapter 13 - Not many people like to stay in jail

I smile softly as I see Heather's dominate side as she leads the dragon riders around the prison showing them where their dragons are and how they are being treated. Ryker walks next to her with Dagur close beside making sure to give an enthusiasm that I have never seen to everyone of their words.

"And here at long last is the Zippleback." I shake my head as Ryker raises his hand motioning to the Zippleback that is being fed nothing but the best fish and being moisturized. "While the other dragons will help create our weapons with their spikes and lava, The zippleback will be fed and moisturized to get the skin just right. It fetches quite the price on the black market."

"Yes, their skin is the best out of all the drag... Wait what black market!" Dagur laughs as he pats Tuffnut on the back.

"Yep, your dragon is going to become someone's cloak or maybe even someone's rug." He laughs as he sees the sadness on his face. He moves out of the way allowing Tuffnut to move and bang on the cage in an attempt to get Barf and Belch to Fight back.

"Please no don't do this to my dragon." I am shocked as I see Ruffnut run to a guard hug them hard sliding down their body. What shocks me more is when she begins searching his pockets at a speed that even my dragon eyes can barely see. I smirk and hold back laughter as she takes a bite of chicken that the guard had in his pocket before she moves to the boots where she finds the key and quickly hides it.

"Uhh take them back to their cells now." Ryker grabs Ruffnut and Tuffnut and throws them at the group as he speaks in disgust. With a simple motion of his hand 5 guards begin leading them back toward their cell. I sigh and shake my head before moving over to Heather as I see her resolve beginning to slowly break. I place my hand on her shoulder showing her that I am here.

"By the gods they are worse than you two said." Ryker groans in annoyance as he looks over at the smiling Dagur and the resolute but softly smiling Heather. I snicker softly as I rub Heather's back and seeing how Ryker is reacting.

"Eh but don't forget we are missing two." My words are soft and have an edge of warning which he completely ignores.

"Ah it is only two not like they can do much. Plus, we have dragon root arrows." I sigh and shake my head soft as Heather snickers as Ryker walks away with Dagur to discuss the next course of action. I lean in close to Heather and kiss her on the neck.

"Ruffnut is smarter than I first realized." Heather looks up at me in absolute shock wondering what the actual hell I am talking about. "Remember when she was hugging the guard out of supposed sadness for her dragon?"

"Yeah, what about it." I smile as I see the contemplation cross her face.

"Well, she stole the key from the guard while she was doing that. So, like I said smarter than I first realized but still a complete idiot." Her face is full of shock as she tries her best to remember that moment until defeat falls over her face as she realizes I am right and that she did see her do something like that.

"Damn I was not expecting that especially from someone like Ruffnut of all people among the dragon riders." I smile nodding as even though I remembered the moment from the show it is still slightly shocking seeing it happen in real life and no one to notice.

"Wanna go get some lunch while we wait for them to figure out Ruffnut has the key and attempt an escape?" While my words are formed into a question I do not wait for an answer before I am leading us both away toward the eating area. She laughs softly as she follows my lead toward the eating area. As we enter, I am slightly shocked to find Windshear sitting in the corner chowing down on some sea slugs.

"Let's go get some chicken. It is nowhere near as good as anything back on your island, but it still is better than nothing." My smirk is wide as I hear her compliment my cooking even if it is not the best cooking in the world I come from. I lead the both of us over and pick up two plates of chicken before we sit at one of the many tables available for eating.

"Time to dig in." I smile as I keep my eyes on her even as on her even as I slowly begin eating my own food. I watch her every movement even the slight twitches of her muscles as she picks up the fork and places it back down after eating the food. As we both are about to finish eating out food a loud bell can be heard resounding throughout the entire ship and probably even being heard on other ships. I smile as I see Heather groan before standing grabbing the double-bladed axe.

"Have fun and try not to hurt them too badly they are still your friends." She smirks as she sees me eating calmly not even standing to get ready for a fight just sitting and finishing the last of my chicken.

"Yeah, I will." I smile softly enjoying how pumped she is to be fighting real people before running down the hall and dodging past other hunters as she runs toward Stormfly wanting to fight Astrid. I stand slowly and start walking toward the cells wondering who or if any I will have to deal with.
