"Oh, that's what she said."
In the village school, Principal Wu sat beside the desk and let out a sigh.
She had just finished listening to the story retold by Lin Nianhe and Wang Shumei, a story that had made both girls' eyes redden with emotion, yet Principal Wu was uncharacteristically calm.
She remained seated there, in silence, her fingers still caressing a map, searching for something.
Lin Nianhe asked her, "Principal, what are you thinking about?"
"Nothing much," Principal Wu replied.
Wang Shumei couldn't help but ask as well, "Don't you want to try to convince Cailan's mother?"
Principal Wu lifted her head and massaged her sore neck, "What am I supposed to say to her? If I were in her position, I'd make the same choice."
After saying that, Principal Wu turned to look at both of them, her eyes filled with helplessness, "Nianhe, Shumei, if it were me, I wouldn't want the hearing aid either, even if I didn't have to pay for it right now."
