Fang Qin sat in the driver's seat filled with anticipation and conflict, with his girlfriend's home just above in the building next door.
He fiddled with his hair in the mirror, then vigorously rubbed his face before preparing to get up. Then, not quite reassured, he touched the windshield to make sure it was intact. After confirming that, he pressed the small paper packet in his pocket once again, took a deep breath, and then got out of the car with a swagger.
His girlfriend was standing outside the car window, watching his actions without blinking. Then, as he got out of the car, she asked abruptly, "Don't worry too much, even an ugly bride has to meet her in-laws."
Fang Qin turned his head to look at her and said fiercely, "Just you wait."
His girlfriend stood there with her arms crossed, just smiling without a word, as Fang Qin swallowed a mouthful of old blood and silently teared up.
