It was Friday. Four days had passed since the League of Villains declared war on the pro heroes. The internet was filled with all kinds of opinions, and news stations had been broadcasting the situation 24/7. But for Midoriya Izuku… he had simply been waiting.
"Midoriya, are you sure this is a good idea?"
Shinso Hitoshi, who had some idea about Midoriya's plan, was feeling uneasy. He couldn't wrap his head around the idea of wiping out so many people at once.
"I don't know…"
"Then why are you still doing it?!"
Shinso was completely dumbfounded. The leader of the League of Villains didn't even know if this would turn out good or bad, yet he was still going through with it? Was this some kind of joke?
"Because I don't know whether the outcome will be good or bad."
"Huh? What do you mean? Explain."
Shinso scratched his head awkwardly. Meanwhile, Midoriya Izuku sat calmly at the bar counter, ready to give a proper explanation.
"First, let me make one thing clear—my dream has never changed. I still want to protect people's smiles."
"I used to think becoming a hero would let me achieve that dream. But in reality… that was just a childish fantasy."
"Midoriya…"
Shinso looked worried, but Midoriya didn't seem bothered. He continued:
"Even All Might couldn't save everyone. Heroes are just people, after all. Maybe even gods couldn't make sure everyone lived happily."
"That's what I used to think. Even if I couldn't save everyone, at least helping the people right in front of me was enough."
"But… that's all in the past now."
"I have to admit, All For One changed my way of thinking. Maybe this was always a flaw deep inside me."
"Arrogance and greed."
Midoriya Izuku opened his palm, watching as his fingers transformed into thin steel wires, dancing through the air. He stared at them, lost in thought.
"When I had no power in the past, I was satisfied as long as I could save the people right in front of me. But as I gained strength beyond anything I ever imagined, greed and arrogance started to grow inside me."
"Why can't I save more people? There are still so many who need my help. With my power now, I should be able to save even more lives."
"But isn't that a good thing? Midoriya, it's normal to think that way."
Shinso Hitoshi asked in confusion, but Midoriya shook his head in denial.
"It's not a good thing... Having extreme thoughts will only make me do the wrong thing."
"Killing evil people stops them from committing more crimes, and fear can even keep others from turning to crime in the first place."
"I agree with you on that. That's why I've always supported you."
Shinso Hitoshi was finding this conversation more and more strange. Many people had backed Midoriya's actions, including himself. If he hadn't believed in Midoriya's ideas, he wouldn't have joined the League of Villains in the first place.
"That's exactly why I say it—I have a deep flaw inside me. Arrogance and greed."
"Killing is an unforgivable crime, but I never saw those villains as people. Maybe that's my arrogance."
"And my greed? I saw that this method worked, so I started killing more and more without hesitation."
"But this method has its limits… The reactions from the heroes and the Japanese government have made me realize a bigger problem."
"The stronger I become, the more I think that using fear to stop crime should work. But the truth is, it never does."
"So what are you trying to say, Midoriya?!"
Shinso Hitoshi stared at him in shock. Midoriya pressed his hands together and spoke seriously.
"I will destroy this hero society."
"Why do villains keep appearing one after another? Why, even with tens of thousands of pro heroes, can they never bring true peace?"
"Petty crimes are one thing—human nature makes crime impossible to erase completely. But why are there still so many villains killing innocent people?!"
"Because this hero society itself is flawed!"
At that moment, it wasn't just Shinso Hitoshi—all the members of the League of Villains were listening intently. This was the true goal behind all of Midoriya Izuku's plans. Everyone was fully focused on his words.
"The Japanese government relies on pro heroes to keep order, but pro heroes only exist if there are villains to fight. I won't even get into the dirty deals between them. I don't even know how many innocent people have been sacrificed because of this system..."
"The government allows villains to exist. They never try to eliminate the root causes because they need villains to justify the hero system. Without constant crime and chaos, pro heroes wouldn't have a purpose!"
"I don't know how brutal the world was before this so-called order. Maybe All Might fought so hard because he didn't want society to fall into chaos again. Maybe this fake peace created by the government is what people actually want."
"Maybe today's hero society is better than the lawless past. Maybe the League of Villains will only bring total destruction in the end. Maybe everything I'm doing is just my own foolish mistake."
"But I refuse to accept it. As long as innocent people are sacrificed, I will never accept this society!"
"I'm not driven by justice or ideals—this is nothing more than my own arrogance and greed."
"If even the people at the top won't do everything they can to save everyone, and instead choose to sacrifice a few to protect the many, I will never accept that."
"I can't forgive a system that treats human lives like numbers, that casually throws away people because it's 'necessary.' "
"I am greedy—I want to save everyone who deserves protection. I am arrogant—if the current order doesn't align with my beliefs, why shouldn't I tear it down?"
"This is who I am—Midoriya Izuku. And this is the true goal of the League of Villains."
Looking at the people around him, all staring at him with full attention, Midoriya smiled and asked,
"So, are you all ready for this?"
"Of course! We've been ready for a long time!"
