The profitable struggle ended when the expedition arrived at a tall rock formation that separated jungle from the rest of the world. When they got to the top, everyone was slightly out of breath from the quick pace they were climbing at, and it was decided to camp for the night.
Lee, similar to the other newcomers, was caught by surprise at the contrasting change.
Behind them, in the distance, was the sea. Few miles further ahead, across a river, stretched vast, yellow fields – probably savanna. Far to the left, Lee could see the insect nests sticking out from the middle of the jungle, towering over the trees. That was probably the place they were trying to avoid.
"Want some?" Just when Lee sat at the side and closed his eyes, a youthful voice disturbed him.
It was a guy in early twenties, maybe still a teenager. He held an actual piece of cake in his hand and was offering Lee to have a taste.
