Chapter 40 - Chapter 40 Ruler Of Asgard

I transported us to the Bifrost, directly into Heimdall's path. "You are not welcome here by my king's orders, Hela," he said, sword in hand.

"Oh? Addressing me by name? And who is this king?"

"Thor is my king, by my heart and his rightful claim to the throne."

He attacked, but I parried easily and knocked him back. "Heimdall, I need that sword."

"I won't give it to you."

"I wasn't asking." With a mere thought, I used reality control to pull the sword from him, leaving him unconscious. I teleported to the throne room in the Royal Palace of Valaskjalf. I could see, Thor sitting in the throne, with Frigga and Loki by the side.

"Well, hello," I announced. "Is this a welcome party for your new queen?"

"What do you want, Hela?" Thor asked.

"What do I want?" I tilted my head mockingly. "I am Hela Odinsdottir, Odin's firstborn, goddess of death, and the rightful heir to this throne. That seat belongs to me."

"Your ambition will only lead to Asgard's ruin," Frigga said softly. "Remove your hatred, and we will forgive you."

"Forgiveness? I wanted your forgiveness? What delusion are you speaking. Enough of this non-sense"

Soldiers surrounded me, but with a wave of my hand, they all collapsed. I sat upon the throne while Loki, Thor, and Frigga lay in chains at my feet with a simple reality control. "You see, I am much more than Hela now. Your escape tactics and speeches won't work."

Thor struck me with Mjolnir, but I caught it mid-air. "This was mine before you ever wielded it," I said, feeling the weapon's power.

I gazed at the ceiling's mural depicting Odin as the peaceful ruler of the Nine Realms. Hela's disgust resonated within me, and I destroyed it, revealing the original mural beneath: a violent portrayal of Odin and Hela conquering the realms.

"See for yourselves," I said. "The true history of your 'benevolent' king. Where do you think all this gold came from?"

With another gesture, the trio fell unconscious. I mind-controlled the soldiers, ordering them to imprison Thor, Loki, and Frigga.

"Guard the fortress and lead me to the treasure room."

Inside Odin's Vault, I examined his hidden treasures. The Infinity Gauntlet was real, though without stones. I slipped it onto my hand, and it adjusted perfectly. I stored the Crown of Black Fire and continued down the corridor, approaching the Tesseract. Its fluctuations masked, I crushed the outer layers and extracted the Space Stone, its energy burning slightly in Hela's hand.

"You're weak, Hela," I muttered, before using my own power to stabilize the stone.

With the Gauntlet now fully equipped, I felt the nodes of space itself laid bare before me. Black holes, portals, all of space was under my control. I slammed my fist into the floor, shattering it and revealing a hidden tomb beneath.

In the depths, I found Hela's army, the Berserkers. Their souls were scattered across the afterlife, but I pulled them back. I transmuted their decayed bodies back to living Asgardian and restored their memories from the astral plane. Fenrir, too, was resurrected, bounding toward me with great enthusiasm.

"Welcome back to the land of the living," I said, as Hela's army stood reborn, ready for conquest once again.

I returned to the Eternal Flame, studying its power closely. Using my cultivation technique, I refined the flame and sent it into Hela's soul. It integrated seamlessly, allowing her to summon it at will. The flame, which had life-giving aspects, combined with my own mastery over the law of life. When I tapped into that synergy, it unlocked new potential, altering her very nature. Her destiny shifted: she now bore the title of Goddess of Life and Death. This granted her the ability to heal, bless others with extended lifespans, and take life through attacks.

The augmentation was profound, her power nearly tripling as she embodied two divine domains. Even her appearance adapted to reflect this transformation. Her suit retained its signature black and dark green hues to symbolize death, but deep gold, soft whites, and light greens were woven into the design, representing life, growth, and renewal. The harsh gothic look softened, with a more organic, flowing design. The sharp angular elements blended with graceful, curved lines. Her eyes cleared of their previous malice. The antler-like crown remained, though it now had a more balanced, natural shape rather than its once wild, spread look.

"How did you do that?" Hela asked, her voice laced with awe.

"Not going to tell you," I replied with a smile. "But if you don't change your view, this power will be lost."

A resistance movement had formed just outside the royal palace. With Fenrir and my newly resurrected army, I met them head-on. They were determined to fight, but killing them wasn't my goal. With a mere thought, I lifted everyone, including their ships, into the air. Their weapons disassembled and dropped to the ground.

"As a Goddess of Death, cast aside for over 2,000 years by a self-righteous liar, it's difficult to suppress my desire to kill you all," I said coldly. "Inside Asgard, I am immortal. I expected you to welcome me, but Odin's lies have blinded you to the true history of Asgard. Leaving you alive is my mercy."

Some flinched at my mention of Odin, so I projected memories of our past conquests, laying waste to civilizations. "This is the true history, not the sanitized version you've been taught."

I announced my coronation for the next day. "Do you fear Ragnarok? There's a greater threat—Thanos is coming to Asgard to slaughter half of you. Can Thor stop him? No. Let me lead you to victory."

Convincing Thor was surprisingly easy. I shared with him a vision of Thanos wiping out half the Asgardians after Ragnarok. Loki already understood the danger. The next day, Thor handed me the kingship.

"Kneel before your queen," I declared, and they did. It was deeply satisfying.

I turned to Heimdall. "Can your vision see Thanos' army approaching?"

"No, my queen. Like the Dark Elves, they've found ways to shield themselves from my sight. But I saw him destroy half of Xandar before claiming the Power Stone."

"I can sense him," I said, sharing my cosmic awareness with them. They saw Thanos' massive army and the Gauntlet with two Infinity Stones—Power and Reality. "Midgard holds two more stones: Time and Mind. The Space Stone is with us. He'll come here to get it."

Thor spoke up. "Midgard has the Avengers. We could use their help."

But some Asgardians voiced their courage. "Asgard's army is ready to fight, even against the Infinity Stones, my queen."

I looked at them in silence, then spoke. "Do you think Infinity Stones are mere weapons? I watched Odin wield them—he reshaped worlds, enslaved nations. Asgard's military has weakened under his peace. Only Infinity Stones can counter other Infinity Stones."

I used the Space and Mind Stones to bolster Asgard's magical defenses and created a realm barrier with my understanding of space. I also had Thor apprehend spies throughout the galaxy, which I uncovered using my reality powers.

"We have few days to prepare," I announced. In two days, the army was ready.

"Heimdall, engage the realm barriers once we leave. I'll sense if Asgard is attacked and return immediately. Keep the army on standby."

"Yes, my queen," Heimdall replied.

Loki stepped forward. "Why not me, my queen?"

I smirked. "You were imprisoned for sending Thanos' army to Midgard, remember? You're not exactly a trusted ally when seeking an alliance."

Thor and I arrived on Midgard via the Bifrost, our presence quickly sensed by Doctor Strange. He immediately confronted us.

"What do you two want here?" he asked, wary.

"Oh, a grumpy one, aren't you?" I teased. "Is this the Avenger you were talking about, Thor?"

Thor shook his head. "No, never seen him."

Then I noticed something. "Wait, you're the bearer of an Infinity Stone," I said, eyeing Strange.

He instantly summoned his magic shields. "Relax, I'm not here to fight," I said, turning to Thor. "Explain to him."

After Thor explained the situation with Thanos, Doctor Strange remained skeptical. To convince him, I shared a vision of Thanos' destructive future. Begrudgingly, he agreed to help and went to inform Tony Stark and the other Avengers. Meanwhile, I contacted Maya Hansen, inviting allies like Daisy, Wanda, Pietro, Black Bolt, and other key figures to join us.

Subtly, I manipulated the minds of Thanos' followers, planting suggestions that the Soul Stone was on Earth. This bought us time, as Thanos diverted his focus there, but it also meant he was now assembling a larger army.

The Grand Canyon was chosen as the battlefield, but only Infinity Stone bearers would confront Thanos directly, while armies prepared across Earth. If Thanos diverted his forces to wreak global havoc, I would use the Space Stone to teleport everyone back, or Doctor Strange could create portals.

When questioned why Asgardians were fighting on Earth instead of their home planet, I simply responded, "If you'd prefer I subjugate you and take the stones for myself, I could. But Thanos has a larger army, and Asgard is already under the threat of Ragnarok. Any misstep could lead to its fulfillment."

Tony Stark, ever resourceful, assembled an array of weapons, shields, and drones, even crafting his own Infinity Gauntlet. I kept my distance, letting the humans prepare while Fury called Captain Marvel back to Earth. She was entrusted with the Mind Stone, which I conveniently replaced the fake back with original.

As the armies readied for battle across the planet, Thor, Captain Marvel, and I stood at the Grand Canyon, prepared for the final confrontation. The world was braced for Thanos, while nuclear forces stood by, knowing they could do more harm than good if not controlled properly.

Thanos' army arrived, and before his Sanctuary even reached the upper atmosphere, Earth's forces launched nuclear strikes. However, the bombs merely impacted Thanos' shields, doing nothing but polluting the air.

His Chitauri ships continued their advance, and he had even more forces than expected—several alien races sent as cannon fodder. Thanos attacked launch sites, causing chaos before releasing his army into New York. While the Avengers and Earth's forces fought his legions, the main army pushed toward the Grand Canyon. I called Heimdall, and soon the Asgardian army arrived via the Bifrost. Our battleships engaged Thanos' fleet, neutralizing several ships, but the bulk of the battle shifted to the canyon.

For 20 minutes, skirmishes broke out across the planet. I used the Space Stone and Doctor Strange's portals to bring all the forces to the battlefield. Thanos still hadn't engaged, but his army was brutal. Quicksilver tore through many soldiers, Wanda dematerialized enemy warships and turned them against Thanos' forces, and Daisy Johnson vibrated the main ship—forcing Thanos to use the Power Stone to blast her away. Black Bolt's devastating sonic attacks wreaked havoc, and Asgardians were slaughtering Chitauri by the dozens. Yet, Thanos' other warriors remained strong.

Captain Marvel broke through their shields, but when she confronted Thanos, he knocked her away with a single punch, enhanced by the Power Stone. Helen and Maya in their suits brought down several Chitauri Leviathans. Captain America destroyed the Chitauri ground soldiers with help from Iron mans droids. Hulk was on top of the flying enemy ships raining down punches.

Thanos finally entered the fray. He fought Hulk and systematically blocked, and counter attacked him in every way and finally blasted him. Hulk defeated and was flung away. His blows leveled towering canyons, and he combined the Power and Reality Stones to create copies of his allies. Captain Marvel attempted to infiltrate his mind with her infinity stone, but Thanos used the Reality and Power Stones to erect psychic barriers. Ant-Man brought down many of Thanos' larger ships, but the constant bombardment from smaller ships decimated our forces. Pietro and Hawkeye were killed in the carnage, which enraged Wanda. She unleashed her chaos magic, but Thanos couldn't stop her with just power stone so countered her with the Soul Stone, knocking her soul from her body. Her form was destroyed, but she reformed herself from pure chaos energy, though severely weakened. She later went to Pietro and resurrected him by bringing soul back in and using magic to heal him.

Thanos then energized himself with the Power Stone and engaged Thor and Captain America. He shattered their weapons and used the Reality Stone to transmute some of our allies into mere rocks. As more Asgardians fell, Hela and Thor confronted Thanos, launching a barrage of blades and fire, lightning briefly slowing him. Spider-Man, MJ, and Gwen joined the fray, but Thanos easily overpowered them, flinging them away. Doctor Strange created portals to assist them, landing a few blows on Thanos, but the Mad Titan ultimately got the upper hand. Thanos momentarily relaxed usage of power stone due to mental exhaustion in controlling it.

Captain Marvel attempted to control Thanos, but he held her with the Power Stone again, twisted her neck, and killed her, extracting the Mind Stone. Now wielding both the Mind and Power Stones, Thanos forced some avengers to fight against each other through mind domination. Giving him some time to relax his mind and get empowerment from mind stone. His Black Order—Nebula, Ebony Maw, Cull Obsidian, Proxima Midnight, and Corvus Glaive—slaughtered the remaining Asgardians and then joined the battle against the remaining heroes, preventing anyone from reaching Thanos.

With the Space Stone in my possession, Thanos came for me next. Hela tried to stop him with Asgardian magic and the Eternal Flame, but he dissolved her attacks with the Reality Stone. Stark, Thor, and I fought him together, but his Reality Stone overpowered both our side's advanced technology and magic. He used the Soul Stone to knock Hela's soul from her body, leaving her lifeless. Despair spread through our ranks as Thanos overpowered everyone. He wrested the Space Stone from me, completing 5 stones of his gauntlet.

With the full power of the space and power Infinity Stones at his disposal, Thanos anchored the moon and shattered half of it, sending debris hurtling toward Earth, wiping out the last of our resistance. Doctor Strange, barely conscious, was forced to watch as Thanos destroyed the Eye of Agamotto and extracted the Time Stone.

"Dread it, run from it, no matter—I'm inevitable," Thanos declared. He prepared to snap his fingers, originally intending to wipe out half the universe. But at the moment of the snap, his thoughts shifted. Instead of destruction, he tried to reshape the universe, transforming planets into more resource-rich, life-sustaining worlds. But, mindstone helped him from pulling back from releasing the power.

He hesitated, confused by the change in his will. I smirked and said, "I guess I tried."

Enraged, Thanos forced the snap, roaring, "Wipe away half the universe population!" With all six Infinity Stones working in perfect unison—Mind Stone to target sentient beings, Soul Stone to select those to vanish, Time Stone to bypass time zones, Space Stone to spread the effect, Power Stone to fuel the snap, and Reality Stone to execute the erasure—half of all life in the universe began to disintegrate.

As Thanos' snap erased people across the universe, the Infinity Stones' energy clashed with Hela, but I shielded her from its effects.

"Let's go. Our work is done," Thanos said, ready to leave. "Your planet put up the greatest fight we've ever faced."

Just as he attempted to teleport back to the Sanctuary, his powers suddenly failed. The space around us turned pitch black—my shield severed him from all concepts and reality. For the outside world, it appeared as a black sphere encasing Thanos.

"Don't bother trying to use the gauntlet," I said as he struggled. "The stones are powerless here."

"Hela? If you could do this from the start, why sacrifice your army?" he asked.

"I'm the Goddess of Death, remember? I do this for fin. But do you really think this will solve the resource problem? The population will recover in ten years."

"Then I'll snap again," he replied coldly. Amusing to see he struggle even though he can't move a muscle.

I approached him, running my fingers over his purple-pink skin. "Tell me, are you in love with Death as an entity, not a concept? This isn't philosophical question."

"No."

"Good." I smirked. "Was it worth it—your daughter, the cost of your 'noble' cause?" I asked, pulling the gauntlet from his arm and removing the stones, placing them in my own.

"Yes... It cost me everything. I saved the universe from itself. If you take this power, you'll doom it."

"Maybe. But the number of madmen who tried to destroy Earth alone exceeds ten in just five years. So, this is pretty usual. Why not manage resources instead of killing? You could have used the stones to create abundance."

Channeling my full power into Hela's essence, I lifted the restrictions on my form and plunged a blade into Thanos' heart. " Every villain will be hero in his own mind." He collapsed, defeated. As I placed the last stone into my gauntlet, my consciousness expanded—like if my shield now stretched across the universe, my divine sense venturing into the unknown and I could do pretty much anything within the universe.

Inside the Soul Stone, I sensed countless souls trapped within. With a snap, I restored everyone Thanos had erased. Another snap brought back our fallen comrades, including Xandarians and Dwarves he had murdered, and the Valkyries died at my hand years before because their soul wasn't found in afterlife Valhalla—because they could be allies and it's Hela's apology. It took more power, but nothing for me. I used the Reality Stone to disintegrate Thanos' army into dust and resurrected Gamora, pulling the soul back crafting a new body for her from my own power. To prevent any Skrull infiltration, I removed all alien genetic material from the battlefield.

I returned to the Asgardian soldiers who knelt before me, offering rest. As I withdrew my power, becoming Hela once more, I felt the combined essence of the Infinity Stones flow into my shield, expanding its range. Over the next half-hour, the shield grew to encompass 30 light-years, more than ten times the size of the solar system. I found the pieces of moon fell down and teleported back to moon and remerged with itself forming a whole, using reality stone but it's orbit and rotation changed.

The heroes expressed their gratitude, though I feigned burned hands for appearances. I said that the final move cost life span and took time to perform so that was reasons for taking too long. Discussions arose over the fate of the Infinity Stones. I decreed that Asgard would retain the Soul and Power Stones, while Earth would safeguard the Time and Space Stones. I swapped the fake Mind Stone back, sealing the real Reality and fake Mind Stones in a dimension known only to myself and Doctor Strange.

Our army returned to Asgard, while Thor remained on Earth. I augmented his power using the Power Stone, unlocking his full potential, and I did the same for myself, doubling my strength and mastery over life and death.

The Valkyries reformed as they were before their deaths, and upon seeing me, they tensed. However, the sight of the rest of Asgard praising me to the skies changed their worldviews. Asgard celebrated our victory for an entire week, with the Avengers and Hela regarded as heroes of the universe.

The official ceremony for Hela's ascension to the throne was a grand affair, with the Nine Realms in attendance. It was a fulfilling moment, hearing millions shout, "All hail the queen!" Instead of engaging in external conflicts, the fear of Hela's previous feats did a good job in this., Asgard exerted its authority across the realms, addressing various issues that had plagued them. Hela implemented military training for Asgardians and oversaw the mining of metals and resources across universe, a stark contrast to the Asgardians' former penchant for revelry and drinking, enjoyment all day long except for some occasional conflicts abroad. It was a difficult shift, but it was her queen's order.

Met with Zeus. Hela didn't like that guy. some conflicts happened. Some standoff and display of powers. A year passed, during which I would occasionally relinquish control to her. Over time, Hela's mentality began to shift. Time heals a lot of wounds. I often communicated with her regarding various matters. I released a rumor on earth that an alien creature was on center of earth and planet will pop open like eggshell when it will be born, prompting widespread panic as nations scrambled to prepare after some agreeing scientific reports coming in. Many opted for mass migration to Mars, a situation we managed effectively, leaving only 25% of the population on Earth. So immediate destruction was prevented.

Ava Starr, the Ghost, occasionally required quantum energy, which was supplied by the siphoner technology invented by Hank Pym. Scott Lang was found as Hank's potential successor, but Hank felt no immediate urgency to assume leadership, as he still had half his life ahead of him. Meanwhile, the presence of Inhumans was closely monitored by various alien factions, and Kree extremists began to plan infiltration on Earth by themselves and through some hidden Hydra factions.

I informed Nick Fury of these developments, and he tasked numerous SWORD and SHIELD agents with preparations for potential conflict. In response, a new organization named SHIELD—Strategic Hyper-Intelligence for Extraterrestrial and Intergalactic Defense—was established on Mars, wielding considerable authority. The Avengers were included in key decision-making processes, allowing SHIELD to monitor both Mars and Earth for threats related to gravitonium, interdimensional portals, and super-ability serum manufacturing.

I returned partial memories of Tony Stark's previous timeline family—Pepper and Morgan—initially withheld from him. Now, he yearned to reunite with them and awaited the maturation of his current son, Anton Stark, while simultaneously working on a multiverse channel engine. I ventured into Muspelheim to confront and annihilate Surtur and his soldiers, erasing him from existence.

Over the next five years, Asgard's domain expanded through a combination of magic and technology. The once flat land evolved into a vibrant planetary landscape, and Asgard ceased its isolationist tendencies, welcoming an interplanetary marketplace and habitable zones. Bifrost was added with heavy securities unlike a bridge where someone could hammer and destroy. Although still protected, the realms thrived under this new system. The Dwarven king was healed, expressing his gratitude for restoring his civilization, previously devastated by Thanos.

As time passed, Hela and I found ourselves entangled in a sexual relationship. She expressed a desire for a child, claiming I was irreplaceable. I transformed my physique into an peak Asgardian form, blending my genetic traits and ability genes with divine attributes to create a unique Asgardian body, retaining my true face. Our union raised eyebrows, but things happened, and she became my wife and the mother of our child, born last year. Embracing fatherhood was a new and exhilarating experience. We named him Valdr Taoson, meaning "ruler." Despite his unique genetics, I felt no profound bond, viewing him as a new life rather than an inseparable part of me.

Is this my god complex speaking? I spent the next 20 years with Hela and Valdr, focusing on family and cultivating my powers through the absorption of quantum, dark, and Asgardian magic energy using advanced devices. While Hela ruled Asgard and led diplomatic efforts with minimal bloodshed, I gifted her many magical technologies, including items necessary for defending against timeline erasures.

The cultivation was slow, but I have reached emperor realm. The different powers in my body including heavenly energy, law energy, essence energy, faith energy, potentials mixed to form a single energy form, which I named as divine energy. It is still not creation energy. My reality manipulation extended to the same sense as my divine sense and new abilities happened are the shield merged with divine sense. The essence body become immutable to elemental attacks in addition to being immortal. I can now refine my soul realm to a divine land. The power increment was staggering.

Five years prior, Earth had suffered a catastrophic explosion, resulting in 110,000 casualties. Millions migrated to Mars, while many others accepted their fate and perished. The Eternals completed their missions, and a new Celestial arrived, not targeting Mars but departing peacefully. With the assistance of magicians and scientists, Earth was slowly revived using the Time Gem and other core restoration technologies. However, the planet required extensive terraforming to restore it to its former glory.

Now, it seemed like time for me to leave. Hela was saddened by my decision, but I reassured her that I could return to this very moment if the multiverse remained intact. After saying our goodbyes, I departed, returning to Earth, where I met with Helen and Maya only occasionally over the years. The farewell was less dramatic this time.

Venturing beyond reality, I sensed various beings observing the timeline for aberrations, including the Living Tribunal and the Watcher. The timeline aligned with Yggdrasil, the tree of timelines Loki had formed, reconnecting with the sacred timeline. From my perspective, I witnessed a circular reality structure where every event unfolded simultaneously, leading to a new cycle of the Big Bang and the reconnection to the past. I feel that a future me has taken Hela away, when he returned his gaze to me, I recognized myself. Moving away the star shaped portal opened to TDG world. Finally, I left for the Draconic Continent of cultivation.
