Chapter 278 - Chapter 278: Adam Hammer

The promotion for Lucy 2 had entered its final stage.

Norton's Eye announced that today, the official website would reveal the final cast list.

This list had been kept secret for a long time. Not only had Vincenzo and others been speculating about Adam Hammer's actor for a while, but the media had also been guessing for just as long.

Many reporters even blocked celebrities, asking if they had participated in Lucy 2.

Dwayne Johnson responded that he was not involved but would love to be noticed by Ethan.

Hugh Jackman said he had always admired Ethan's films and would love to collaborate if given the chance.

Will Smith mentioned that he and Ethan had tried to work together several times, but it never worked out.

Jason Statham stated that he really liked Adam Hammer's character but, unfortunately, was not the actor playing him.

Just as the anticipation reached its peak, The Hollywood Reporter was the first to break the news—Adam Hammer's actor was none other than Rob Sari.

This name surprised many people. In the first film, Rob Sari had played a villain who died, yet now, in the second installment, he was cast as the final boss. This was undoubtedly a bit jarring.

"I'm a little disappointed. This villain is supposed to be a physically imposing character. Rob is so short—how could he possibly play Adam Hammer?"

"Yeah, why not cast another actor? Was there not enough budget?"

"I really don't want to see someone who died in the first movie appear again in the sequel. It just feels off."

Many people on the forums expressed their disappointment in Ethan's casting choice.

However, soon after, the official Lucy 2 website released a real-life image of Adam Hammer.

When Vincenzo clicked on the website and saw the picture, he was shocked.

Because the Adam Hammer in the image had no trace of human flesh—his entire body was a ghastly pale, his eyes were cybernetic implants, and the back of his head was filled with data cables. Even his mouth and body structure were entirely mechanical.

Aside from half of his skull, there was no organic matter at all.

It was immediately clear why Rob Sari was chosen for the role of Adam Hammer. Other muscular actors simply couldn't disguise themselves this perfectly. Only someone like Rob Sari, who had inherent physical limitations, could completely conceal his body.

And from the picture alone, Vincenzo couldn't even recognize Rob Sari—it was just too transformative.

Adam Hammer's face was covered in scars and marks left by cybernetic surgeries. A silver structural line ran straight down the center of his forehead, dividing his face into two halves. Combined with his glowing red mechanical eye, he looked like the ultimate cold-blooded robotic assassin.

This character design was on par with the T-800 from The Terminator.

Once fans saw Adam Hammer's true form, they immediately understood the reasoning behind the casting.

"You can't even tell it's Rob Sari."

"Yeah, this is insane. Look at that body—I dream of having a cybernetic upgrade like that."

"Wow, that cybernetic eye is the coolest thing ever. Which hospital can do this?"

A well-designed villain must be both terrifying and memorable. Adam Hammer was exactly that—a character who left an unforgettable impression at first glance.

At least on social media, the buzz surrounding Lucy 2's plot couldn't compare to the sheer hype surrounding Adam Hammer.

The American audience had always loved cybernetically modified villains.

After all, body modifications were already trendy among young people—nose piercings, lip piercings, nipple piercings, and even intimate piercings were common.

Because of this, Adam Hammer's character quickly went viral and became the primary association people had with Lucy 2.

A week before the movie's release, Norton's Eye announced that they would be hosting a special screening and a cosplay competition. At the event, fans would also get to witness the "real" Adam Hammer.

This news left people confused—"the real" Adam Hammer?

Did that mean the actor would show up in costume at the screening?

But Adam Hammer's outfit didn't look like something you could just wear and walk around in. Seeing him in person seemed impossible.

Fortunately, Norton's Eye was considerate enough to invite many video bloggers to the event. They even provided free screening tickets, asking them to document the experience.

However, they didn't demand positive reviews—just honest, unbiased opinions.

This approach won over many content creators. They hated feeling pressured by companies, so they readily accepted the invitation.

Vincenzo was among them. When he got his ticket, he was so excited that he couldn't sleep all night.

The next day, when he attended the screening, he was still drowsy from lack of rest.

But as soon as he arrived at the venue, his energy returned—because the atmosphere was absolutely electrifying.

The streets were packed with spectators surrounding the red carpet. Reporters had set up their cameras, making the event feel like the Oscars.

The massive turnout was due to Norton's Eye's grand cosplay contest. Ethan had been announced as the judge, and he would personally rate the participants.

As soon as this news broke, cosplayers across New York went wild.

Especially fans of cybernetics—many had already been crafting their own Lucy-themed gear, and some even created mechanical body modifications.

Thanks to Norton's Eye publishing an official guidebook, they avoided many pitfalls. Now, cyberpunk cosplay had become a staple at major events.

However, not everyone could enter the contest. Participants had to submit photos of their costumes in advance. Only those who passed the selection process could enter the official venue and compete.

But even those who weren't competing could still dress up, exchange ideas, and have fun.

Vincenzo saw a crowd of young people walking the streets in their own mechanical exosuits, creating a dazzling cybernetic spectacle.

Once he entered the audience seating, he looked around and saw that the entire venue was circular. At the front was the judges' panel, flanked by the audience sections. The stage in the center was where cosplayers would showcase their work, and a separate area further back served as a waiting room for contestants.

After taking his seat, Vincenzo waited about half an hour. As more cosplayers entered, the competition finally began.

However, Ethan wasn't among the judges yet—he would only appear for the final round. The current panel consisted of renowned cosplayers, Lucy's art director, and the film's screenwriter.

Under their guidance, cosplayers stepped forward one by one.

Some had bold, revealing outfits, like scantily clad women.

Others had meticulously detailed, full-body cybernetic suits with every mechanical feature in place.

And, of course, there were plenty of contestants with decent but unremarkable designs.

Still, Vincenzo and the audience enjoyed the show for a full ninety minutes. By the end, six cosplayers had advanced to the finals.

They portrayed characters like Peel, the Terror Squad, Cyberbody Lucy, and the villain Sari. The final round would feature even stricter judging before determining the ultimate winner.

During the break, a sudden commotion erupted from the crowd surrounding the circular plaza.

"It's Ethan!"

"And Scarlett!"

"They're here!"

It turned out that the celebrities had arrived at the scene. Vincenzo's heart raced with excitement. He looked up into the distance and indeed saw Ethan and Scarlett entering the plaza under the protection of bodyguards before taking their seats at the judges' table.

The audience near the seating area immediately erupted in cheers.

Ethan and Scarlett waved to the crowd, then picked up the microphone and said, "Welcome, everyone, to the premiere event of Lucy 2. I hope you all have a great time here."

"To be honest, I'm a little surprised because there are a total of 213 cosplayers who made it to the finals. This number is far beyond my expectations. It looks like you all really love Lucy. So, to make sure we don't let your enthusiasm go to waste, I've prepared a little gift for you all. I hope you like it."

"Wow!"

Everyone immediately cheered at Ethan's generosity.

Ethan then sat back down and began watching the cosplayer finals.

The final round used a scoring system, meaning neither Ethan nor Scarlett had the sole power to decide the winner.

Thirty minutes later, once all the scores had been tallied, Ethan announced the winner of the cosplay competition: James, who cosplayed as a Terror Combat Unit.

His pitch-black armor received unanimous praise from the judges. The craftsmanship and details were impeccable, clearly showcasing immense effort and high-quality materials with absolutely no cheapness to it.

Many audience members thought that his armor could even appear in the movie without looking out of place.

Some even imagined him going head-to-head with Adam hammer.

However, that thought was quickly shattered.

Because at that moment, a helicopter carrying a shipping container suddenly appeared in the sky above the circular plaza.

Whirr! The helicopter's rotor winds blew through the crowd, lifting their hair and making everyone feel puzzled.

"What's this?"

"Are they dropping flyers?"

"Or did they fly to the wrong location?"

But the event staff seemed to have been informed in advance and had already cleared the area for the incoming container.

Then, as everyone watched in astonishment, the shipping container landed with a loud boom.

Ethan picked up the microphone and said, "I know you've all been curious about what kind of presence the villain of Lucy 2 will have. And now, he has arrived."

"Let's welcome Adam hammer!"

"What?!"

Vincenzo and the others gaped in shock.

Adam hammer was inside the shipping container?

The thing being carried in by a helicopter was actually Adam hammer?

This kind of entrance was so over-the-top that everyone was utterly stunned.

However, before they could fully process it, they saw the shipping container doors slowly creaking open.

As the metal hinges groaned, thick clouds of smoke billowed out from inside.

And then, a towering, jet-black figure slowly emerged from the dense fog.

Vincenzo held his breath, his eyes widening in disbelief as he muttered, "My God!"

Two massive, steel-reinforced cybernetic legs stepped out from the smoke, followed by a pair of powerful mechanical arms and an intricately designed exoskeletal waist structure. As the fog dissipated, glowing red cybernetic eyes and a heavy artillery cannon mounted on the back came into view.

Adam Warhammer!

When the 2.4-meter-tall, menacing, and terrifying Adam hammer emerged from the smoke, everyone in and around the plaza let out gasps of pure awe.

"Oh my God!"

"Jesus!"

"OMG!"

Only when seeing Adam hammer in person could one truly grasp his overwhelming presence—a towering force, an apex predator standing at the pinnacle of the evolutionary chain.

At that moment, Vincenzo finally understood why, in the comics, Lucy, Peel, and their entire team couldn't defeat Adam hammer.

A being infused with the pinnacle of cybernetic technology, enhanced with superhuman abilities—he was like an apocalyptic overlord, so terrifying that just looking at him was enough to make people abandon any thoughts of resistance.

And then, Adam hammer began to move.

Boom!

Each step he took produced a heavy, resonant sound, a testament to the sheer weight of his monstrous cybernetic body.

The cosplayers who had originally gathered near him out of curiosity immediately turned and fled as soon as they saw him move.

"A pathetic group of insects." Adam hammer scanned the area with a cold, disdainful gaze before stepping toward the audience seating area.

"I could crush you all with one hand," he declared, his red, mechanical eyes gleaming as he rapped his metal fingers against the railing. Then, he added, "But that would be too boring. You should experience a more lasting kind of fear."

"That's so cool! Can I take a picture with you?"

Vincenzo, who was seated right next to Adam hammer, immediately stood up, his face full of excitement as he made his request.

"A picture? My body is not some trophy for your amusement."

Adam hammer rejected him outright but didn't move away.

Vincenzo seized the opportunity, quickly taking out his camera and snapping a photo of himself and Adam hammer together.

Other audience members also clamored for photos, but Adam hammer had already begun moving again, making his way toward the judges' table.

"Welcome, Adam hammer," Ethan greeted him.

Ethan didn't call him by his real name, Rob, but instead used his in-movie name. Strangely enough, this made everything feel even more immersive.

"Creator," Adam Warhammer's voice was hoarse and distinctly mechanical. "Are you the one who summoned me here?"

"That's right. I hope I haven't interrupted anything important for you." Ethan smiled.

"Of course not. Those weaklings were barely a warm-up for me."

Adam hammer was exuding confidence at every turn.

"That's good. Now, greet everyone here."

Adam hammer looked around. "Greet them? You want me to conquer this city and enslave these pitiful originals?"

"Originals" was a term cybernetically enhanced individuals used to refer to people who hadn't undergone any body modifications.

"I meant for you to take a walk around the plaza."

"Since it's my creator's command, I have no objections. But you insects should be careful—don't get crushed under my feet."

With that, Adam Warhammer began pacing around the plaza.

As he walked, his name was chanted wildly, the crowd even more ecstatic than when they saw the actual celebrities.

"Why do they love him so much?" Scarlett asked, puzzled.

Ethan lowered his voice and replied, "Because size is power, strength is power, and cybernetics are power. And Adam hammer possesses all three."
