Chapter 297 - Chapter 297: The Live-in Son-in-Law?!

"Of course," Ye Fan said casually.

"I already told you, with me here, killing these beasts is as easy as turning your hand."

As Ye Fan's voice echoed, Liu Yi became more excited.

"Sword spirit, you're truly incredible!"

Liu Yi was overwhelmed with excitement.

He never imagined that this broken sword he picked up would possess such power!

And now, the sword that had been covered in rust and cracks had transformed into a blade radiating a menacing aura.

The cracks and rust on the sword had completely vanished!

"Right, I need to gather the herbs quickly," Liu Yi said, glancing at the herbs around him with excitement.

He placed Ye Fan down for a moment and began swiftly collecting the herbs.

"Aren't you going deeper inside?" Ye Fan's sword floated into the air as he asked.

"I need to gather the herbs first, or I'll be scolded," Liu Yi replied with a hint of frustration, as though recalling something unpleasant.

"Scolded?"

Ye Fan was puzzled.

What exactly did Liu Yi do for a living?

Could he be a junior apothecary for some sect?

"Never mind."

Ye Fan settled down on the ground. At least for now, he was curious to see what kind of sword master Liu Yi was.

Time passed quickly, and after collecting all the herbs, Liu Yi also harvested the energy cores from the Beast King-level creatures.

"Sword Spirit, let's go," Liu Yi said, picking up Ye Fan before heading back the way they came.

Along the way, some more beasts appeared, but they were easily dispatched by Liu Yi with the help of the sword.

"This sword sheath might work."

While traveling, Liu Yi came across the corpses of several warriors and some discarded weapons. He picked up a sword sheath and tested it, finding that Ye Fan fit inside perfectly.

However, the moment the sword entered the sheath, cracks immediately formed on the sheath's body from the immense sharpness radiating from the sword.

"Huh?"

Liu Yi was shocked when he saw this.

"I'm a powerful sword," Ye Fan said proudly. "Even if this sheath fits my size, it can't handle my strength."

"But, Sword Spirit, your aura is too overwhelming. I'm afraid it will attract attention," Liu Yi said hesitantly. "For now, let's use this sheath, and I'll find a better one later."

"Fine, suit yourself," Ye Fan replied indifferently.

After walking for quite some time, Liu Yi finally emerged from the deep forest.

He continued walking for a while until he reached a sect.

"Yo, Liu Yi, you're back from gathering herbs?"

"Your wife was looking for you just now."

Several disciples from the sect spotted Liu Yi returning and smirked at him.

Their smiles were filled with contempt.

"Got it," Liu Yi replied with a smile, nodding to them.

Ye Fan watched this exchange with curiosity.

It was obvious that these people looked down on Liu Yi.

And after sensing their strength, Ye Fan realized they were at least at the level of Martial Kings.

Compared to Liu Yi, who was only at the eighth tier, their power was far superior.

"As expected, not everyone in the Martial God Realm is a Martial God," Ye Fan muttered to himself. "It just has many Martial Gods, that's all."

Liu Yi had already reached one of the houses on the mountain.

As he opened the door, he saw several women soaking their feet inside.

"Liu Yi, why are you only back now?" one of the women glared at him, her brows furrowing.

"Zhen'er, I ran into some trouble on the way and got delayed," Liu Yi apologized to the woman, his wife.

"Dump out this footbath and prepare new water with fresh herbs," his wife, Zhao Zhen'er, the daughter of the sect leader, ordered coldly.

"Alright, alright," Liu Yi nodded quickly. He set down the items he was carrying and began helping Zhao Zhen'er and the other women with their footbaths.

"Zhen'er, your husband isn't bad," one of the women said with a sly smile. "He's been taking care of your footbaths for several years now, hasn't he?"

"Hmph, what else can he do besides chores like this?" Zhao Zhen'er scoffed.

"Sigh, I wish I could find a man who would marry into my family," another woman chimed in.

...

Ye Fan was speechless as he listened to the women.

"Is this guy the main character of a live-in son-in-law novel?" Ye Fan muttered to himself, dumbfounded.

It turned out Liu Yi was actually a live-in son-in-law!

No wonder the sect disciples looked at him so strangely when he entered.

Their gazes were filled with disdain.

By now, Liu Yi had dropped off the herbs and was carrying Ye Fan to the back courtyard.

After storing the herbs, he stood outside the room, glancing around to make sure no one was around before relaxing.

"Sword Spirit, while I'm holding you, does my cultivation speed also increase?" Liu Yi asked in a low voice.

"Yes," Ye Fan replied, feeling a bit of pity for Liu Yi.

This guy sure had a rough life.

"This is amazing!" Liu Yi was overjoyed. He immediately sat down cross-legged and took out the Beast King energy cores he had collected earlier.

Grasping the hilt of the sword, he began circulating his cultivation technique.

In an instant, the Beast King energy cores in his hand were rapidly absorbed.

Liu Yi's cultivation had always been slow, falling far behind others, which was why his strength was so weak.

But now, he felt a steady flow of energy surging into his body.

The surrounding energy in the air began gathering toward him.

Not only that, but the energy within the cores was also completely absorbed in a matter of moments.

Time passed quickly, and Liu Yi became so immersed in his cultivation that he lost track of time.

"Liu Yi!!!"

Suddenly, a loud voice jolted him out of his meditation.

"Zhen'er..."

He had just stood up, about to say something, when a basin of water was thrown at him, drenching him completely!

"I've been calling you for ages! Why didn't you come?!" Zhao Zhen'er snapped, throwing the wooden basin on the ground.

The dirty footbath water soaked Liu Yi's hair and clothes, leaving him drenched.

He stood there in stunned silence.

"You're completely useless!" Zhao Zhen'er glared at him, her voice filled with disdain. "What good are you for, anyway?"
