Alice's POV
As soon as my mother left the place, unaware of what had happened, I felt an avalanche of emotions. The world fell silent, as if holding its breath with me. There he was: Liam, as surprised and confused as I was.
I crossed my arms and tapped my foot on the floor, keeping a rhythm that felt more like a countdown. He should already know this was a bad sign.
"Liam!"
My shout echoed through the hallway like a thunderclap. His startled reaction gave me a small satisfaction. He froze in place, looking like a child caught stealing candy. And even in those moments, he was just… adorable.
"Uh, I…"
Shut up, I thought, but didn't say. Instead, I took a step forward and, with a sudden movement, pinned him against the wall.
It was the first time I'd lost control like that.
"I want an explanation." My voice came out huskier than I intended, heavy with frustration over the situation.
He looked at me with wide eyes, almost pleading for help.
