Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Snakes Are at Least 12 Hours Old

The habit of snakes is to first entangle their prey with their soft, boneless bodies and then swallow them whole.

Ye Feng struggled weakly, but the more he resisted, the tighter Mobius's grip became.

In the end, Mobius, covered in sweat, pressed down on Ye Feng. Her pale, delicate hands braced against his chest, and her clear green hair cascaded down her flawless back.

Mobius tilted her chin slightly, her vertical pupils glinting like water as she gazed down at Ye Feng with a seductive intensity.

"Snake... let me go..."

"Heh, do you think you can escape from me?"

"Now, little white mouse, please accept this. I'm going to devour you."

Entwined in Mobius's grasp, Ye Feng couldn't move.

Eventually, he gave up struggling, turning his head to stare blankly at the ticking clock on the dimly lit wall.

At the Church

Aponia knelt in prayer before the statue of the goddess.

She had never imagined herself stepping not only into a church but also into the halls of happiness like an ordinary woman.

This time, she prayed for herself—for her happiness with Ye Feng.

Though it was only an engagement, it left her trembling with anticipation.

Regardless of what "fate" held, just meeting Ye Feng was enough.

Dong, dong, dong.

The bell tower rang, marking the transition from today to tomorrow.

Aponia slowly opened her eyes and walked to the arched window. The clear starlight bathed her figure, enveloping her in a serene glow.

"Seven hours to go."

At seven in the morning, she and Ye Feng would complete their engagement ceremony at the church.

In the Basement

The enclosed space, now Mobius's laboratory, was filled with a stifling air.

Though she had long intended to install a ventilation system, various delays had prevented her.

Surprisingly, the stifling air didn't hinder Mobius. Instead, it seemed to fuel her fervor as she spiraled into a frenzied pursuit of what she considered divine ecstasy.

"Snake... time's almost up..."

"Time?"

Mobius glanced at the clock. It was already 6:30.

She understood exactly what Ye Feng meant by "time's almost up."

Her expression darkened as she opened her mouth and bit Ye Feng's shoulder, holding on as if injecting venom laced with her feelings.

"That shameless nun... what's so good about her?"

"Snake... don't speak ill of Aponia..."

Mobius cupped Ye Feng's face with both hands.

"You're not allowed to mention her name. Right now, it's just you and me here, little white mouse. Understand?"

"Snake... stop being so willful. You know what today means..."

Mobius's pupils dilated in anger at his words.

Her pale, jade-like arms tightened around Ye Feng's neck like a snake, as if intent on suffocating him.

"Hehe, of course, I know. Do you think I dragged you to the basement for no reason?"

"...What?"

"Don't you know? A snake needs at least 12 hours. We're far from done."

"Ugh... cough, cough!"

Mobius loosened her grip as Ye Feng burst into a fit of coughing.

"Now, transform!" Mobius suddenly demanded.

"Transform... into what?"

A mischievous smile played on Mobius's lips.

"You and Aponia seem to have had so much fun together. Show me what you've got!"

"Snake..."

"Don't call me that! Address me as Dr. Mobius! By the time the sun sets, I will have completely... cherished you."

Her maniacal laughter echoed in the dim basement.

The wall clock ticked slowly, its hands completing another rotation until it pointed to 12.

Ye Feng stood up, covered in faint marks but looking refreshed.

He gently carried Mobius, who had collapsed and fallen asleep on the lab table, back to her bedroom and tucked her in.

As the living room clock clicked past 6:30, Ye Feng glanced at Mobius sleeping peacefully in her room.

With a small chuckle, he shook his head.

"Twelve hours, huh? If I hadn't secretly helped Snake recover her strength, she wouldn't have lasted two."

At 6:50, as the sun peeked over the mountains, Ye Feng arrived at the church.

Aponia knelt in prayer beneath the morning light, appearing as serene and holy as a heavenly portrait. Her purity was almost too sacred to disturb.

But one of Ye Feng's favorite things to do was defile the divine, painting pure white with his own colors.

He wrapped his arms around Aponia from behind.

The nun didn't react, continuing to kneel with her hands clasped in prayer.

"Are we hurting Mobius too much by doing this?" she whispered softly.

"Not at all," Ye Feng replied. "By letting her follow her true desires and find her own happiness, Aponia-mama, you're helping her."

Indeed, whether by moving in or through their nightly escapades, it was all an intentional provocation for Mobius.

"Everything is as 'fate' foretold," Aponia murmured. "As the prophecy stated, it has come to pass through my hands. I cannot excuse myself from this arrangement. I know my sins. They are always before me. I am a sinner—at least, an accomplice..."

Her words were like a prayer.

"Aponia-mama, you could have refused me."

"I can no longer refuse anything you ask, Ye Feng."

Ye Feng nibbled on her ear. "Is it that you can't refuse, or that you enjoy it?"

Aponia trembled. "Don't say such things, Ye Feng."

"It's fine, Aponia-mama. What does it matter if we fall? No matter how you change, you'll always be my favorite."

"I... know. That's why I can't refuse you..."

"Then this is fine. Everyone is happy. Don't you want to see such a scene, Aponia-mama?"

"I..."

Aponia turned to face him, looking up with wide, innocent eyes.

Before she could speak, Ye Feng silenced her with a kiss.

"Aponia, you bear no sin. If there is any fault, it's mine."

"Mm... mhmm..."

As the morning light pierced the horizon, chasing away the forest mist, it filtered through the church's stained glass windows, casting twisted, fiery shadows across the walls.

"Although everything before was just a play, the wedding tomorrow is real."

Ye Feng took out a ring.

"I don't know if this tradition exists where you're from, but here, placing a ring on the middle finger signifies engagement. Let me put it on for you."
