Civil war!
The whole world is laughing at America right now.
In fact, Arizona's independence referendum is not the first of its kind among American states.
Take California, for example. They've said stuff like, "Our economy is so strong, America's just holding us back. Let's hold an independence referendum."
Or Texas. Once part of Mexico, loaded with energy resources, and absurdly enough, due to the federal government's indulgence of illegal immigrants. Texas wasn't having it, the federal government enacted laws forcing them to take in immigrants, but when Texas refused to comply, they also called for an independence referendum.
Then there's Florida. It goes way back—more than a hundred years ago and rooted in slavery issues.
Let's not forget Hawaii. Sure, it's a vacation paradise, but it's been messed with plenty, and calls for an independence referendum have always been there.
