It was the next morning when the doctors finally called for Brooke. She had been in strict isolation for a full day, refusing to take anyone's calls or messages. The staff had tried to present her with dinner, but she kept her door locked, until a maid came with a summon from Doctor Anders.
Following the sound of the elevator's ding, Brooke raised her teary gaze from the floor to the room of people in front of her. On each sides, the maids were lined up, heading each line stood Gilbert and Hannah respectively.
"Mrs Grayson." They slightly bowed their heads as Brooke walked towards them, a maid next to her supporting her balance.
"How is he?" Brooke immediately asked, her fingers clutched so tightly onto her skirt it caused wrinkling on the fabric.
Doctor Anders kept her head hung to her shoulder, in line with the solemn tone of the atmosphere. Brooke surveyed the faces of the doctors, the soulless looks in their eyes and the overall frowns they sported.
