The sun had climbed higher, casting crisp shadows across the arena floor. With three matches concluded, the tension had thickened. Some Jade Lotus disciples stood anxiously near the edge, others huddled beneath the peach blossom trees. The younger ones, too weak to participate, watched with tight fists and clenched jaws.
One girl whispered to another, "Lora was amazing out there. She barely even looked like she was trying."
"Yeah," the other nodded. "Shaia too. It's like they both knew every move before it happened."
"I want to fight like them one day," another muttered, watching Theo out of the corner of her eye. "And I want Senior Brother to say I was amazing too..."
