Chapter 416: Their Goal
To find the Sun-Shooting Divine Bow, Ye Tian needed some clues. The last person to use the bow was Houyi, so he had to track him down.
Finally, Ye Tian found Houyi.
However, he was surprised to see a large crowd gathered outside Houyi's residence.
"Hey, Laozi, what are you doing here?"
"What else? I came to find Houyi, of course."
"I suppose you're looking for clues about the Sun-Shooting Divine Bow?"
"Naturally. Houyi was the last person to use it. If we want to locate the bow now, we have to ask him."
Ye Tian looked at the tightly shut door and asked, "What's going on here?"
"Houyi has locked himself inside and refuses to come out. We've been waiting here all morning, but he still won't open the door. What do you think we should do?"
"He won't come out?"
Ye Tian knocked on the door and called out, "Houyi, come out now. Everyone is waiting for you. You need to clarify what happened back then. After all, you're the only one who knows the truth."
A voice from inside responded impatiently, "Are you guys done yet? I've already told you—I don't remember anything about those events!"
Suddenly, the door swung open. Houyi stepped out, rubbing his temples, visibly annoyed. His head was pounding from all these people pestering him for information about the Sun-Shooting Divine Bow.
The Laozi chuckled, "Houyi, you were a hero who shot down the suns back then. How could you possibly forget such an important event?"
"Sure, I shot down the suns, but don't forget—I was just an ordinary man with great strength at the time. I wasn't a god back then. Later, I went through death, reincarnation, and only then became a celestial being. So, I really don't remember much about those days."
"Do you truly not remember, or are you just unwilling to tell us?"
Erlang Shen chimed in, "Houyi, this is a matter concerning the safety of the heavens. You must not withhold information. If you know anything, you must speak up. If we can find the Sun-Shooting Divine Bow, we can shoot down the new sun that has appeared in the sky."
"How many times do I have to repeat myself? I'm telling the truth! If you don't believe me, there's nothing I can do about it. I swear, I'm not lying!"
He let out a deep sigh. If only so many people had visited him like this in the past. But no, they only came to him now because they wanted to know about the Sun-Shooting Divine Bow.
They wanted the bow so they could shoot down the new sun and claim first place in the Golden List Livestream. That was their true goal.
"I'm going to rest now. Stop bothering me!"
With that, he slammed the door shut. The surrounding immortals looked at each other in disbelief.
"What the hell is this? We're all anxious like ants on a hot pan, and he just shuts the door on us?"
"The heat from that extra sun is unbearable. If we don't find the Sun-Shooting Divine Bow soon, the mortal world will suffer. But look at his attitude—he refuses to help solve the problem!"
"But standing around here won't accomplish anything. Maybe he really has forgotten?"
"Just like that? No way. This isn't that simple. I think he's deliberately hiding something. If he told us the truth, he could take first place in the Golden List Livestream. I bet he just wants to keep the information to himself."
"That makes sense. If he's hiding something, we should just keep watch here. As long as he doesn't leave, he won't have any other options!"
"Exactly! The best thing we can do now is stay put and see what tricks he tries to pull!"
The immortals decided to stand guard. Ye Tian, however, felt that they were acting disgracefully.
After all, these were celestial beings of the Heavenly Palace. Yet, their only concern was extracting information from Houyi, who clearly wanted nothing to do with them. Ye Tian realized that if he wanted to get Houyi to reveal the location of the Sun-Shooting Divine Bow, he needed a different approach.
Inside his room, Houyi lay on his bed, exhausted. He sighed, "Why has my life come to this? This is just ridiculous!"
"What's wrong?"
A voice suddenly rang out in the room.
Startled, Houyi sat up abruptly. "How did you get in here?!"
Ye Tian stood there calmly. "If I wanted to come in, there are plenty of ways. Judging by your reaction, you weren't lying earlier. That means you truly don't remember what happened back then."
"Of course, I don't remember! I've been through reincarnation. You know that when someone reincarnates, their past memories become blurry. That's exactly what happened to me. I really can't recall those events."
"Hmm… If that's the case, I might have a way. If you truly can't remember, would you be willing to try?"
"What kind of way?"
Houyi had long been frustrated with his hazy memory. If there was a way to recall his past life, he was certainly willing to give it a shot.
