Allison's POV
I'm back at my parents' house, as if my encounter with Darius had never happened. But something is wrong. No one's home. It makes me think they went somewhere after the funeral.
Shit. I should have said yes to Darius' proposal if I'd known this would happen.
Instead, I told him it wasn't a good time, that Jeremiah was right outside and there were bouncers at every corner. He even insisted we leave through the way he came in, but I refused out of fear, not wanting to upset anyone today, especially my grief-stricken mother.
"Empty house, huh?" I walk around aimlessly, rethinking my escape plan. Not even a bouncer in sight.
"You're home early..."
I whirl around so fast I nearly lose my footing. It's Jessica. And I'm alone with her. My heart thuds hard and fast, like it's about to explode.
"I'm... I was... I came from..."
She laughs at my confusion.
"I saw him."
My eyes widen. "Saw who?" The words fly out of my mouth, fear etched in my eyes.
